This house is perfect!! Just as you described!! We will certainly be back next year!!!
My family and I, husband, 6-year old son, and Yellow Lab pup, stayed at Mom's place last summer. We had the most intimate and rejuvenating time being tucked away at the Cabin...yet, we felt close enough to neighbors if needed. After getting settled in, we were greeted by the Neighborhood Welcome Wagon which consisted of two very sweet dogs, cutely named Alli and Gator. My son was absolutely smitten, as was our dog. The Cabin offered all the conveniences of home along with providing the much needed quiet time to reflect and recharge that we so needed. The views from inside of Lake Glenville and the Woods were just as nice as the views from the expansive deck. Just outside there were foot trails to follow or you could just meander through the quiet canopy covered roads to explore. The owner, Lisa, was great at responding to us and being available. She proved to be very personable and genuine in character. Thank You, Lisa, for a very memorable time sharing your family's place with us.
First words out of our mouths when we arrived: "wow! this place is awesome!" While the pictures in the listing are true and accurately reflect the excellent condition of this property, seeing it in person exceeded our expectations! From the cleanliness of the house, the well-equipped kitchen, and the beautiful views from the "wall of windows" this property is everything you hope for in a vacation rental - plenty of room to kick back and relax, comfy beds for lazy mornings, a huge deck for eating and entertaining, and nature's beauty as far as the eye can see. Lisa takes pride in her homes - and that's exactly what you get - Mom's Place is your home away from home! As a repeat renter of Lisa's properties (she has a gorgeous rental in Savannah!), I can truly say that Lisa sets the bar high when it comes to great properties. You'll hate leaving Mom's Place and want to plan your next visit as soon as possible! Which is exactly what we did today... see you in April, Lisa!
My husband and I stayed in July and even though there is no air conditioning it was quite comfortable as the owner had promised it would be since I HATE the heat. This was GREAT and made me actually look at potential properties to buy in the area. The home is nice and inviting it has rustic décor for a real old time feel. The kitchen was well stocked with pots pans, utensils almost every thing one would need to cook with if they brought their own food, which I did. Washer and dryer was great to have I brought less clothes and was able to by more stuff while I was there. The bed was comfortable and the house was clean and I am PICKY. The only thing I could complain about is there was no internet as stated and the television was very small and the drive to the house was gravel in hind sight next time I will bring a different vehicle and my own television. We had a wonderful stay meet some great people, the owner was great to work with and we even extended our stay. This is a great location not far from cashiers and highlands or DuPont Forest as well as Boat rentals at the marina to get on lake Glenville. Great shopping and sight sightseeing. I WILL be staying there again. Thanks for sharing your Grandparents home with us.
Our family loved mom’s place. First what a great location.. top of a mountain overlooking Lake Glenville. We were amazed at the view from the deck.
Mom’s place was a great place for a family vacation. The house was comfortable for 4 adults and a 10 year old and a 9 year old and our 7 year old Lab. The house was comfortable with a nice kitchen, great dining and family area. The bedrooms were spacious and having two twins in the back bedroom for the kids was great. Two baths sure made morning and evening easy. The tv and games in the family allowed us to enjoy the Olympics during family time.
This was our third trip to the Cashiers Ares and Mom’s Place location gave us a lot of options for fun and shopping. We enjoyed “Slippery Rock Falls”, rented a boat on Lake Glenville and went tubing, what a thrill for us older folks; went to Cherokee – less than a hour away…and shopped downtown Cashiers.
We always felt at home in “Mom’s Place.” The house has everything you need including a washer and dryer. We had all the privacy you could want. From sun up to sun down we enjoyed ”Mom’s Place.”
Lisa was great with ideas for our adventures and the “Big White Book” made finding local business and sites so easy. We recommend “Mom’s Place” to everyone, you will not be disappointed.
Thank you Lisa for sharing your home with us!
Mom's Place was fantastic for our small family. We are two adults and a ten year old. Our son really enjoyed having the whole upstairs to himself, while we really enjoyed the privacy of the downstairs master. The cabin itself is easily accessed, and is not too far from town to cause any inconvenience. Lisa was EXTREMELY helpful on providing insight into all there is to see and do in the area. If there's one thing I learned, it's that it all CANNOT be done in a week! Our schedule was packed with adventures, and there's so much we missed out on!
Regarding the cabin and its amenities: I concur with the previous reviewer. The beds were comfortable, the washer/dryer was fantastic, the kitchen was well-appointed. The board games and puzzle were a fantastic perk (we enjoyed both immensivesly). The water pressure was good in the bathrooms and kitchen, the view from the deck was spectacular!
Over all, we COMPLETELY enjoyed our stay in the Cashiers/Highlands area and Mom's Place absolutely made our entire vacation more comfortable, relaxing, and fantastic!
My husband and I came to this charming mountain cabin last year for our anniversary and LOVED it!! Not only is it a VERY romantic spot overlooking gorgeous lake Glenville, but we also felt SO comfortable there. It is obvious that the owner put so much thought and effort into decorating and supplying the cabin with everything you could ask for. Very thoughtful!! It was spotless upon our arrival and the owner was very receptive to our questions about the area. She offered many ideas about what to do and where to go...although we stayed in the cabin the majority of the time :) On one hand, it is very secluded and quiet....as if you are the only people for miles and on the other hand, it is very convenient to get to amenities and activities. We decided then to bring our family back for a visit.
We came back this year with our two children (tweens) and they were kept busy the entire vacation with, not only the lake activities, but the many things to do in the area. They got wakeboard lessons, fished, climbed magnificent mountains, went to holiday celebrations in Cashiers (July 4th), went to auctions (so much fun!!) and met other families around the lake that we hope to have lasting relationships with.
The cabin itself is stocked with everything you might imagine. Even video games for the little down time we had in the cabin. Our family was on the go from sun up to sun down most days but just hung out in the cabin a couple of days, which was so cozy and cool with the mountain air. I don't think my family has slept this good for quite a while!!
We will definitely reserve this place for our vacations for years to come.
Thanks Mom's Place!
Lake Glenville is one of the cleanest & most beautiful lakes in the US with waterfalls galore to explore along its shoreline. The lake also offers an abundance of watersports...bring your own or rent at Signal Ridge Marina. Discount golf for Mom's Place guests at our own Sapphire Mountain Golf Club. Biltmore Estate, Cherokee Indian Village, nearby waterfall sliding, great shopping (fabulous consignment places too), country auctions abound, hearty little places and upscale restaurants, Flat Rock Playhouse (best plays I've seen), great art & craft festivals, whitewater rafting all over this area (scary), gentler river tubing (not so scary), waterfall touring.
Other Activities: island picnics, hillbilly auction, Dodie's auction, waterfall sliding & sightseeing, lake sunbathing, Biltmore Estate, Cherokee Indian Village
