Lake Glenville is one of the cleanest & most beautiful lakes in the US with waterfalls galore to explore along its shoreline. The lake also offers an abundance of watersports...bring your own or rent at Signal Ridge Marina. Discount golf for Mom's Place guests at our own Sapphire Mountain Golf Club. Biltmore Estate, Cherokee Indian Village, nearby waterfall sliding, great shopping (fabulous consignment places too), country auctions abound, hearty little places and upscale restaurants, Flat Rock Playhouse (best plays I've seen), great art & craft festivals, whitewater rafting all over this area (scary), gentler river tubing (not so scary), waterfall touring.

Other Activities: island picnics, hillbilly auction, Dodie's auction, waterfall sliding & sightseeing, lake sunbathing, Biltmore Estate, Cherokee Indian Village

Cozy Getaway with Spectacular Views

  • 5 of 5

Mom's place is a newly updated, throwback gem to cottages and lake cabins of the past... Quaint, rustic, compact, and comfortable.

When you arrive at Mom's Place, you feel very secluded as it's at the end of the road without any neighboring cabins beside it. This cute cabin is perched on a steep hill giving you the sense that you're in a giant treehouse. It's surrounded by towering oaks and Eastern White Pines that give it an unrivaled fragrance that lowers your blood pressure the moment you open the car door.

Despite the home's small footprint, Mom's had enough room for our 5 person family and 2 medium-large dogs. Everything was VERY clean, the kitchen well stocked, the wifi was solid and the TV/entertainment options abundant.

We used wifi plenty but only turned on the TV for about 1 hour over four days because the views off of the deck are literally one of the most beautiful I have ever seen, anywhere! Every waking moment we were at the cabin seemed to be spent on the deck overlook the mountains and lake. We even saw a Bald Eagle flying and fishing several days in a row while we sipped our coffee and watched the early morning fog burn off.

One thing to know is that this property doesn't have direct lake access and you have to drive to enjoy Lake Glenville. So to make the most of it, we rented a pontoon boat at a local marina for 2 fun-filled days on the water. Mom's location is centrally located for easily visiting Cashiers and Highlands. But the little windy mountain roads make a quick trip to the grocery store a 30 minute round trip drive, so be sure to bring what you need or plan to pick something up next time you head to town for some live music or dinner. Also be aware that the new Weber grill is charcoal rather than gas. We had anticipated grilling the first night we arrived and I had to run back into town for charcoal and lighter fluid. No biggie, just got an excuse to buy more wine and apps for the chilling on the deck.

Lisa was a fabulous owner who was very easy to get ahold of, responsive, gracious and accommodating.

So if you're looking for an affordable, amazing place to take the family, then look no further. Seriously, stop haunting rental options, reading countless reviews and contact Lisa to book Mom's place!

Perfect cabin with A VIEW

  • 5 of 5

My family had a wonderful time at Mom's Place. This cabin has a cozy mountain feel with a tastefully upgraded kitchen and bathroom. It was wonderful for our family to escape the sweltering heat in Florida. We slept with the windows open and had to use all the comforters. The weather made for lovely morning coffee on the back deck. Bring a sweatshirt (even in July) although the house is stocked with nice robes. I cannot say enough about the view from the back deck. IT IS AMAZING! The deck railings do not obstruct the view so there are beautiful long views of the mountains and the lake.

The house is well stocked with everything from cooking needs, to laundry, to grilling, and all is clean and well cared for.

One of the best features of this rental was the owner, Lisa! She provided us with an awesome guide of things to do in Cashiers and helped us with every detail of our stay. We vacation in the Cashiers and Highlands area every summer and this cabin has the perfect combination of mountain privacy and convenience to town and lake activities. We will definitely be back.

fantastic view . . . but be aware

  • 3 of 5

be prepared for a fantastic view . .. but no air-conditioning and poor ventilation made nights tough . . . this place is remote/access is an issue if you plan to go in-and-out to activities off-site. If you are simply planning to stay at the house, no problem. Just do it in the cooler weather of the fall and spring.

Owner's Response: Glad you liked the view as it is spectacular and for the price point, this house is exceptional in every way. i have spent every summer in that house, or 1 of 2 lake houses, for the past 51 years. And yes, sometimes it gets warmer, but it's ALWAYS a comfortable night of sleep. Guests actually prefer opening the windows and screen doors as a sleeping preference, listening to crickets and/or a nice rain storm. In addition, fans in every room and multiple windows in every room of the house, with one entire wall of massive glass sliding doors, means this house IS very well ventilated at all times that windows and doors open.....screens in place. As far as the house's location to activities and attractions, you wouldn't know it because you're not familiar with the area, but this house is actually located CLOSER to town (and all other activities) than 90% of the houses on the lake, which are further around the lake to the north, and thus longer driving periods to town than the quick 10-15 minutes that this house is. This house is situated within a good driving radius of cashiers, highlands, franklin, sapphire and all other locations due to its situation and location on the southern part of the lake. i believe you mistook the remoteness of the house because its tucked away at the end of a dirt road, which again up in nc mountains, is a premium thing, not a bad thing. Who wants to be in a private mountain home, perched on the side of a hill, on a lake and listen to busy traffic on an asphalt road? i KNOW this because my house that i live in for 5 months each summer/fall is on the lake and also ON paved Norton Road and i listen to traffic!!! Mom's Place has NO traffic, at all, except it's guests. By the way, i have 3 houses on the Lake Glenville and none of them have AC and I've never heard a complaint in 15 years of vacation rentals and my mom's vacation rentals prior to that for 20 some odd years.

WOW!

  • 5 of 5

What an amazing place! This is really just perfection. A stunning view, privacy and a true home away from home. Everything you can possibly need has been generously supplied-and clearly the owners know how to cook because this kitchen has everything needed to prepare a grand meal! Super clean and comfy -can't emphasize enough how great Moms Place is! Been home two days now and our two dogs are still exhausted from all the mountain running. as for the humans, we're missing the fresh cool mountain air and sitting on the deck checking out the lake and incredible mountains. This has been by far our favorite rental ( our 4th thus far for 2017) and thank Lisa for sharing!

Our little cabin in the woods

  • 5 of 5

We have been going to this little cabin for so long, it feels as if it were truly our own! Lisa's mom actually rented to my parents even before I had a family of my own to bring. It has become a tradition and we can't seem to stay away! And this year we got a major surprise when we arrived for our week in the woods. Lisa had upgraded the entire house!!! Everything from the kitchen cabinets to flat screens in all of the rooms. We are talking a seriously contemporary face lift. The big back deck has this neat new cable fencing that allows an even better view of the lake (my dog and 4 year old were completely secured behind it). It seemed like every day after a swim or a kayak, we would end up right back there, grilling and watching the sun go down. All in all, the beauty of our long-standing connection to Mom's place was made all the more special and fresh this time around. If you want seclusion, nature, views, comfort, rest, convenient access to the lake and town, an overall lovely place to spend time with your favorite people, this is it! Thanks again Lisa for another beautiful summer getaway!!!
