Good family time
Our family had a great time. FYI you should repair or replace BBQ. We would stay again
Hi Rose, thank you so much for leaving a review for "My Huckleberry Hideaway" in Pine Mountain Lake. Our team is delighted that you enjoyed your stay! The comment on the bbq has been noted, thank you. We've had 2 different handyman visit the property just recently and both have assessed the bbq, neither have found anything wrong with it. We'd like to have more information about your experience with the bbq, so that we can know better what we are looking for. We'd love to have you back to stay again in the future! Happy adventuring! Peace, Tara & The Yosemite Region Resorts Team
inadequate cooking facilities spoiled the week
We stayed at Huckleberry hideaway at Pine mountain lake from July 29 to August 4th 2019. We've stayed at PML many times in the past and know the resort area very well. The house location , bedrooms, showers etc. are as advertised and presented no problems.
What was a big problem was the cooking facilities. Specifically the outdoor BBQ and the kitchen stove.. Upon arrival the first night we planned to grill on the BBQ put couldn't due to a serious propane leak that couldn't be fixed that night. Plan B was to use the stove in the kitchen which was barely functional because several of the electric burners would not work, and the oven was simply too filthy to even consider cooking anything. The next morning we called the property manager to report the problem and they sent a handyman over to try and fix the issues.
The handyman was able to fix the leaking propane problem, but the BBq is completely burned out inside under the grill and presents an issue that in our and the handyman's opinion can only be rectified by replacing the unit. He was unable to get the electric stove burners to function properly for more than a few minutes and this was an issue for the rest of our stay there.
Again, in the opinion of the handyman and us, the stove and BBQ should both be replaced and he said he would make a note of that in his report to the property managers.
To charge the amount of money we paid considering the deplorable condition of the cooking facilities is unacceptable.
If you are considering renting this unit please be sure that these cooking issues have been resolved.
We have tried to get the property manager to respond to our complaints but he has not. Phone calls and e-mails to the manager (Yosemite region resorts in Groveland CA) have produced responses from the office personal answering that they have passed the complaints on to the owner but so far no responses from him.
Dirty dishes and bedding
On a negative note, most of the silverware was dirty including the drawers and plastic silverware holders. Some pillow covers smells like someone slept on them.
On a positive note. You could use their kayaks to venture out to the lake. The property has the room to support a large group 8 or more because of the added space downstairs.
Hello Al, our team is surprised to read your review and to see that you found anything wrong with the bedding. The cleaning crew assigned to this home are absolutely outstanding cleaners and make up the beds for each guest stay with fresh linens that have been laundered properly & sanitized. This crew cares deeply about each guests experience, as does our office team. We would have all loved the chance to make this right for you. Unfortunately we did not hear from you during your stay. If the silverware was not clean, this would be because a previous guest did not wash them properly. Our housekeeping crews perform a thorough clean between each guest, but they do not have time to wash all of the kitchenware. Guests are instructed to wash & put away all used dishes & kitchenware properly before departure. This is standard in the vacation rental industry. We hope you enjoyed your stay at "The Big Easy" in Pine Mountain Lake. -Tara & The Yosemite Region Resorts Team
