I love it.. It was a gorgeous view, loved the woods, and the beach. It was all very private, I will definitely go back next year.

Awesome Family Beach Getaway

  • 5 of 5

This property was a great getaway for our big family. The bedrooms and living areas were roomy and well furnished. The surrounding yard and pole barn had so much to do - fire pit, play house, arcade games, and that's not even mentioning the beach that's right down the street! The beach was fabulous and very private. There was only maybe 2 or 3 other small families (max) on a huge stretch of beautiful sand right on Lake Michigan. The property owner was very helpful with her directions as well as with the amenities on the premises. For instance, a great big yellow wagon made trips to the beach with our cooler and blankets a breeze. I highly reccomend this place. We'll be back!

Not as Describe, Never slept there.

  • 1 of 5

The house itself does look like the picture but that is about I can say positive. We have asked for a refund from Homeaway and the Property Manager.

I did request a refund of the PM and the property manager because I do not believe the listing was as described. We were told the beach was a walk across the street but the instructions at cottage said to drive.

There also was no cell service. The house did have a landline but there was also no internet or cable when we arrived. The PM asked my husband to talk to the cable company to set it back up.

The PM's manner was not appropriate. She told us that she would leave the key but was there at the property when we got there. She also told us to call back in an hour about the cable and internet. When we did she told us she hadn't called because her car broke down. Also that the internet issue might have been due to a credit card issue of hers. In addition she also complained about the previous guests from Chicago and how many trash bags they used. Also blamed them for messing up the TV service because they watched movies. There were also ants in the house and the vacuum was still out when we arrive demonstrating she wasn't ready for us even though we told what time we were coming.

There were also ants on the floor.

We had my mom, 3 year old child, and my husband with us. With tech issues we never slept there and are hoping to get a partial refund. If you use homeaway I would also suggest only use places that accept credit cards because we paid by check. If you do that it will be much harder to get your money back if there is a problem. I do hope the PM at least gives us a partial refund.

Just a reminder again if you pay the PM directly Homeaway will not help you. My ticket was open for a month and I had to make 3 calls and Tweet at them before they contacted me back.

Affordable but Absolutely Perfect

  • 5 of 5

First let me say I booked this place last minute and Maggie was great... We spent an hour on the phone talking about her place and about all the things I could do with the four teenaged girls I was bringing along...

Second, we arrived past midnight and Maggie called to make sure we got in safe and also to see if we needed anything.... What owner does that??!!! Maggie does... She was awesome to rent from and absolutely helped us to have a fantastic time by making sure we had what we needed and information I asked about...

Third the view is simply breathtaking... Spent a lot of time on balcony with my girls and in upstairs living room area it was roomy n relaxing...

Fourth, Manistee is beautiful, amazing, and just a must see place to be....

Thank you very much we will be back....

A wonderful cottage on Lake Michigan

  • 5 of 5

This cottage is a great place to relax with friends or family. The house is full of antiques and sea themed objects and is equipped with everything one may need for a holiday. Maggie the owner was available to give us advice and make sure we were settled okay. The location is very close to downtown Manistee which also has some fabulous beeches. We had a great time and would not hesitate to stay here again. The upstairs balcony is great, and we enjoyed relaxing breakfasts while looking at Lake Michigan.

Great house, great view

  • 5 of 5

Loved the house and the surrounding area. The view of the lake can't be beat and the surrounding area is among the best as well. Everything was provided which allowed us to have a worry free weekend to get away from it all! Close enough to downtown to go whenever you like even though we didn't want to leave. Would recommend for anybody looking to stay in the area.
