HIKING Option 1:

3 hours on a sealed track to/from the rustic organic farming village of Gimmelwald, under the spectacular peaks and glaciers of the UNESCO World Heritage Jungfrau Region. Option to return via cable car and/or stop en route in a little Pension for a snack. Suitable for all fitness levels. Trainers/hiking boots and layers of outdoor clothing advised.

HIKING Option 2:

Enjoy the 4 hour North Face Trail, riding the historic funicular railway to the starting point up in the alpine meadows. Visit the alpine flower garden before setting off on marked trails. Option for a packed lunch or snack at the dairy. Suitable for all fitness levels. Hiking boots and layers of outdoor clothing advised.

BIKING

Choose from a gentle valley ride or demanding descents. Host will take you to the bike rental shop; guests are responsible for the hire cost. Optional Packed Lunch or stop en route.

INTRODUCTORY TOUR OF THE SKI & SNOWBOARD PISTES OF MURREN AND/OR WENGEN with a BASI qualified Ski Instructor. Half or full day. CHF50 per hour. Instructor will take you to the ticket office and hire shop at the start, if you wish, to get on you on the slopes a.s.a.p. Guests are responsible for hire and transport costs.

PRIVATE ENGLISH TUITION with a qualified TEFL/TESOL teacher. Business English, Conversation, Refresher Course, beginner to all levels. Let's create a programme just for you.

The above packages are entirely optional. You may wish to simply enjoy the garden with lawn, terrace and grill, and explore the region independently.

We offer an open-plan lounge, spacious dining area and proper kitchen, and a separate bedroom with large double bed (2 x 100cm mattresses in a single unit). The lounge, balcony & garden have stunning panoramic views of the Eiger to Breithorn mountain range including glaciers.

You may request a Breakfast Pack for your wonderful first morning in Murren. The cost is CHF15 plus the price of the groceries, payable in Swiss Francs on arrival. Please request this at least 3 days in advance.

There's an extensive Local Information File in the apartment. The nearby Schilthornbahn cable car links with the valley (car park) and the tourist attraction of the Piz Gloria Schilthorn peak with its revolving restaurant. It's also the meeting place for paragliding rides.

A sports rental shop and 2 restaurants are within a few minutes walk. 300m to beginners' ski slope in winter, summer hiking trails, grocery store, bars and many other restaurants.

As with many properties in this mountain village, access is via steps (with a handrail, lights and maintained by a snow clearer in winter).

Self-service laundry facilities are available in the village, 5 minutes walk from the apartment.

Past guests have loved my apartment and found it to be good value for money. Murren is beautiful, unspoilt and car-free. It features in many published bucket lists e.g. 100 places to visit before you die! Chalet Traumli is in the typically Swiss wooden style in a quiet residential area of the village, overlooking a small pasture with panoramic views of the mountains. The apartment has been thoroughly renovated and modernised inside, and is light and spacious. Guests enjoy a well-equipped kitchen, perfect for preparing real food and a dining area to entertain friends. There is something about Traumli that makes you feel calm and restful, from the moment you arrive. There are 7 apartments in total in this building and our neighbours are Swiss and friendly.

What makes this apartment unique

This is a very clean and well-maintained apartment. The quiet location and its own garden, ensure a peaceful setting. Our apartment feels snug yet airy with lots of natural light in the lounge/kitchen/dining area. We have deliberately not squeezed in extra beds or bunk beds, as we wanted to offer our guests something a little more comfortable and spacious. A baby cot/playpen suitable for up to 15 kg is available, with linen, towel and changing mat (for a small extra charge). The view from the garden, lounge and balcony is spectacular. WiFi is included in the price. Homely touches include books, CDs and DVDs, to encourage you to slow down and relax. A Breakfast Pack is available on request, allowing you to relax or dash out to the slopes on your first the morning.

Owner listens to your requests and does her best to ensure your holiday dreams and expectations are fulfilled.

Generally guests are met at the station by the owner and taken to the apartment.

Incredible apartment in spectacular location

Our favourite stay during our 3 week Switzerland holiday ! Everything was great and kitchen was well equipped ( including expresso machine ) . Very clean and modern. Skylights really effective ! Lots of local information was provided . Communication with host was fine . Even though she was away , we were well looked after by her friend Ann Marie. Dinner on the deck was especially memorable. Co-op in town was convenient for groceries . Murren is a superb location as a base for exploring Jungfrau region especially if you enjoy peaceful , quiet evenings . Great hiking just out the door . I even did the tandem paragliding ! My wife and I both highly recommend Sue 's chalet and we would love to return !

Owner's Response: Great to read this was your favourite stay! The peaceful location is idyllic all year round. Enjoy breakfast on the balcony and dinner in the garden after a day exploring. Guests also enjoy free entry to the nearby pool, and spa. With the cable car just a few minutes a way, you have easy access to transport connections as well as hiking/ski trails, paragliding and a Via Ferrata with a 800 drop!

We absolutely loved this place, and hope to come back again. The owners were so helpful and friendly, and the apartment so comfortable and well furnished. The view from the living room window is spectacular, with a panorama of snow capped peaks. It is located near some of the best hiking in the region. An unforgettable experience!!!

Stunning location

A beautiful immaculate apartment with two wonderful sky lights. The view from the balcony was absolutely stunning and we loved watching the moon rise over the alps. We took an early morning ride to the top of the "Shiltzhorn" which was very convenient. They offer a discount if you go early and avoid the crowds. It was easy to drop by and see the "live cam" before actually buying a ticket. It was difficult (for two 75 yr olds) to get our suitcases down the path (about 200 steps) and up the spiral staircase (100 steps) so I would arrange ahead of time to have some assistance. We did find that the railroad station would transfer our luggage for only 14 francs if we took it the night before. Since we were going on to Adelboden (several trains and a bus), this was a great help. We loved the town of Murren! There is a coop in town so we were able to cook all of our meals and enjoy them on the balcony. Kitchen was fully equipped and even included an Expresso machine that worked very well. Wish we were still there!!!

Owner's Response: Thanks for the great review. We're in a great location for watching sunrise, sunsets and waterfalls. Brunch in the revolving restaurant at the Schilthorn peak is a must - catch the cable car which is 3 minutes from the apartment. Just to clarify for future guests, if you let us know in advance we can usually assist with your luggage. The apartment is on the 3rd floor (42 stairs not 100 as mentioned). Access to the building is via 71 steps through lovely gardens. Skiers & snowboarders may use the lockable racks at the cable car station or ski to our garden if conditions allow.

We had a very pleasurable stay in this cozy apartment. Great location, comfortably fitted out and easy for self-catering. Sue was very accommodating with us and helpful with the non-trivial logistics of staying in Murren.

This idyllic, car-free mountain village has a charm you cannot help falling in love with. The Jungfrau range seems almost close enough to touch but still a long way off, as Mürren sits on a sunny terrace above the Lauterbrunnen Valley. A winter sports resort, with Sports Centre offering guests free access to large swimming pool with jacuzzi and ice rink (ice rink in winter season only), and a beautiful Wellness Centre. Perfect during the rest of the year too for hiking, spectacular waterfalls, exploring this stunning region by train, mountain biking and other adventure sports, or simply enjoy being at one with nature. Don't miss a trip to the top of the Schilthorn, including a visit to the 007 James Bond exhibition, the revolving restaurant and newly opened viewing platform. Home to the Inferno Triathlon (August) and the longest downhill ski race (January). Convenient base for the Lauberhorn Ski Races. Various other amateur snowboarding and ski events throughout the season. Great sledging! Take a day trip to Wengen or up to the top of the Jungfrau (ice palace) in any season - the highest point in the Alps reachable by train. During the summer, visit Trummelbach Falls, valley museum or hike to a local dairy for lunch.

Featured on the BBC as the launch place for base-jumpers and popular with paragliders (book your tandem trip in the village). Other summer adventure sports include the Via Ferrata, hanging 800m above the valley floor and ending with the Nepalese bridge (not for the faint-hearted). This is a stunning location for both relaxation and activities.

A resort tax is payable by all visitors to Murren payable in person at the Tourist Office, CHF4.60 per adult per night. In exchange you will receive a Golden Card, offering free access to the large indoor pool with jacuzzi, and ice rink (subject to seasonal opening hours).

Once a booking is confirmed, basic guest information will be requested by the owner in order to prepare a personalised Rental Agreement.
