About Alan

I am an economist and I work in an international organisation, helping government improve competitiveness in the economy.

I am a family man with 2 teenage children. I love travelling as well as hosting.

When hosting, I like my guests to feel at home, and I also like to give tips on how to explore the region.

Alan purchased this cottage in 2005

Why Alan chose Le Faulq

Normandy is a breath of fresh air for any Parisian. Chilling out in the countryside and at the same time close to the sea - a dream come true by buying this house.

The walks, fresh air, good food, this is what we love and that we share with our guests.

What makes this cottage unique

Half timber house and wooden chalet.

Sleeps 8, with 3 bathrooms.

Game room with pinball, table tennis and table hockey.

Combining tradition and modernity , this residence is the ideal choice for an enjoyable vacation.

The traditional Norman farmhouse dates from the eighteenth century.

It offers a large living room offering an amazing view of the garden through large bow windows. You will admire the countryside while sitting indoors, next to a fireplace.

In sunny weather you will also enjoy dining on the terrace with a garden view.

On the ground floor, a bedroom and a bathroom are accessible to elderly or disabled persons . Upstairs there is a landing room with two single beds, a master bedroom en suite with a spacious, renovated bathroom.

The kitchen is fully equipped with dishwasher , multifunctional oven (conventional + rotisserie ) , microwave, hob, kettle, toaster, coffee machine and crockery for 10 people.

The cottage is converted into a loft game room complete with pinball, table tennis and table hockey. It also sleeps 2 people on an upscale sofa bed (you will sleep like on a real bed on its 14 cm thick mattress).

Cute house with lots of character.

  • 5 of 5

The location is beautiful. The town 5 KM away is from a fairtytale. it has great restaurants and a wonderful farmer's market on Friday. Such a magical stay in Normandy. Hope I get a chance to go back someday. My son liked the bathtub.

The house also has a fun game room for the kids with ping pong and pin ball machine.

Comfortable cottage in the Pays D'Auge

  • 4 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our week staying in Alan's pretty cottage. It just suited us with a downstairs bedroom and nearby bathroom for my 94 year old mother and nice warm fire in the cool evenings. We also made good use of the games room - hadn't played table tennis for years! It is in a lovely area and we went for several walks along local paths and small roads. Chateau le Blangy, the nearest village, is very pretty and the market in Cormeilles was good. We had good days out in Arromanche, ( the D day landings museum is excellent) and Honfleur and Trouville. Visits to Chateau Crevecouer en Auge, Chateau Canon and the Jardins de Pays d'Auge were the highlights of the week. We loved the Pays d'Auge with all the buttercups, cows, orchards and timbered houses.

Alan was very helpful all through, answering our questions before we booked, giving us good directions to the house and when we arrived with a puncture, he gave us the names of all the places nearby we could go to to get it mended.

We have no hesitation in recommending this house as a quiet rural base for exploring Normandy.

Owner's Response: I am very pleased that you had a good time in my house. It really has everything you need for a good holiday, whatever the weather condition. When the weather is nice, there are so many sights to see, and outdoor activities to do. If it rains, the fireplace can keep you warm, and the game room allows you to have fun and forget about the weather...
