Colibri Cottage is situated on Malgretoute Bay, a quiet haven for sailboats and yachts cruising the Caribbean. Imagine enjoying a sunset glass of wine on a pool deck overlooking the shimmering blue Caribbean Sea. Enjoy the mast of large sailboats that have docked nearby to share your view of the Petit Piton and to enjoy St. Lucia's prized World Heritage site. Colibri (hummingbird in the native language)Cottage has it all-what is believed to be the largest villa pool on the island -perfect for swimming laps or just floating around; lovely flower gardens humming with birds and butterflies; porches and decks for reading or napping. Yet a short drive away there is much to see and do - botanical gardens, a rain forest, hiking, resorts with excellent resturants-even a live volcano. The beach is steps away. Colibri is spacious, cozy and comfortable.
Colibri Cottage is made up of two adjacent villas. The main villa, with lovely colonial architecture, has two bedrooms with ensuite baths, king sized four poster beds and attractive common areas. The detached two story villa is divided into two apartments each with two bedrooms including beds that flexibly convert from king size to twins, two bathrooms, living room/kitchette and long graceful verandas with cooling ceiling fans and spectacular views. Colibri Cottage is the perfect location for a small, intimate wedding, a family reunion or a group of friends (no more than 12) getting together. It is a quiet, peaceful place perfect for unwinding and relaxing.

The area around Sourfriere is gorgeous. We love to view the Pitons while sitting by the pool. The hiking is fun. We are close to the sandy beaches of the Jalousie Resort. The weather is fine year round. It is a wonderful, relaxing get away from the 'real' world of jobs and snow. It's a great family get away for our children and now grandchildren. They love to visit during the holidays.
Thank you for sharing your beautiful home and fabulous pool. We've had a great 8 days. Sylvia is a true gem. Livina fixed us two very delicious dinner. The men had a wonderful diving experience with Chester at the Hummingbird resort.
Myself and 11 of my friends stayed at Colibri Cottage and had the time of our lives! The house is incredible! More than enough space for all 12 of us with room to spare! The VIEW was like nothing I have ever seen! We were in town for a wedding so we ventured to other hotels and villas visiting friends and I have to say ours was the best! Our housekeepers and gardener were the friendliest and most accommodating people we met while in Soufriere, just the best! The short walk to town was perfect for us and the pool was heavenly. We will definitely be back!
Colbri villa offered us a relaxed family holiday in one of the most stunning settings I ever had the pleasure of. We went with another family so 4 adults and 5 kids under 5! We were looking for sometime to relax and enjoy hanging out with the children and we got exactly that. The meals prepared by Lavinia were wholesome and tasty and she was able to advise on buying the best food locally. The pool was sublime with the view of the piton, and beach close by. Road getting there was not for faint hearted in rainy season but overall felt safe and secure. Can't wait to return.
St. Lucia is a magnificent island. Colibri Cottage is charming and smartly situated, overlooking the Pitons with a glorious view of the sunset. The staff was happy to take care of us and made us feel at home. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and look forward to returning.
Our group of 13 adults stayed in Estate Colibry for 10 days, 10 nights from December 6 to 16th of 2013. All of us came from different parts of US for our yearly reunion. Our flight from Dallas was cancelled for an indefinite time due to a winter storm and me and my husband arrived to St. Lucia one day later then the rest of the group. When we called our friends who already arrived to the villa to let them know about our problems, the first words we've heard was: We are in Heaven! All our stay was the stay in Heaven! Absolutely amazing view of Petite Piton, steps from the beach with the calm clear water, infinity pool with fantastic view of the Caribbean sea. The estate with two houses comfortably accommodated our fairly large group. Susan, the manager of the estate, was very helpful in arranging our activities. We felt safe with Randy, the security guard living on the property; daily housekeeping was great! We loved gathering in the evening on the huge patio for our diners and get together. And all these for the amazingly low price. All I can say that it was our very best reunion, we've had in the last 5 years. Thank you so much! We will definitely come back and will recommend villa Colibri to our friends.
Our party of six adults and two children just returned from a week at Colibri Villa and can't wait to return. This house is so elegant and peaceful it's hard to bring yourself to leave the property, Lavinia's cooking is so delicious it's a struggle to justify eating out, and the view of Petit Piton is as good here as anywhere on the island. I can't imagine a better location: the house is a short water taxi ride from either Sugar Beach or Anse Chastenet beach (the water taxi can pick you up at the house's beach which is a very short walk down some steps from the pool area. I believe the beach is now called Freedom Bay. And by the way, this is a pretty nice beach in and of itself, with good snorkeling). A few things I can add to what has already been written: 1. Soufriere is a 15 minute walk away- you need to walk through a very poor area, but it never felt threatening to any of us, and someone from our party did it every morning for water/beer and other necessities. 2. The property management company offers a pre-stock option that we took advantage of, but were not entirely happy with because they only bought about 2/3rds of the things on the list, leaving off necessities like wine, and milk (hard to eat cereal without milk). The property management company also offers very inflated rates for rental cars- we got ours on-line from Hertz for half of what the property management company wanted to charge us, and found it much easier to navigate St. Lucia than the directions to the house suggested. 3. Although I never saw a mosquito, I was eaten alive by bugs, although that may have happened off-site. 4. Lavinia will do laundry for you- $10 a load. 5. Finally, there is a very fine library in the house, (fiction, non-fiction, travel guides) as well as board games- so no need to bring books or games.
We stayed for 10 days in the lower house of Colibri Villa and it was a wonderful experience. It was just my wife, brother-in-law and his wife, so we occupied the 2 bedrooms in the large lower house, leaving the 4 bedrooms in the upper house un-occupied. By splitting the cost with another couple the price was more reasonable than a hotel on the island. Location near Soufriere cannot be beat. View of Petit Piton is perfect. Access to the beach below is down a rough trail (nearly everything on St Lucia was impacted in a big way 3 years ago by Hurricane Thomas, but the trail is do-able and it's a very, very private, partly rock, partly sand beach. Ocean is very warm everywhere. We rented a car for the last 8 days and enjoyed having our own schedule. A 4 wheel-drive SUV is a great way to go. We hired a National Guide for 1/2 day and he did a custom tour, tailored to our desires. We didn't utilize the included cook, since we tended to leave the villa before she arrived, but it was nice to have her available to us if needed. St Lucia was a memorable trip and we enjoyed every minute. By the way, the frogs are VERY loud on St Lucia, so if having some quiet when you go to bed is a must (you get used to them), then just bring earplugs. 3 of us didn't wear earplugs and still slept fine, I DID wear earplugs (I do at home, too) and I also slept great.
We were very pleased with the condition of the property, great open veranda, screening on the windows, great parking for the car, onsite gardener (security), etc. The grounds are beautiful and have not only an abundance and variety of flowering plants, but also many kinds of fruit bearing trees, including banana, mango, papaya, lemon, grapefruit, breadfruit, and more. Febornia sets up whatever you like in any regard. I highly recommend having her arrange a taxi to drive you from the airport to the house, even if you plan to rent a car. even with their excellent written directions, you may not find the villa. It's not like there is a rectangular grid of streets laid out with street signs and addresses on every house. But, once you get there and have the rental car delivered to your door, it's easy to drive away and get familiar with the island (as long as you ALWAYS remember to drive on the left). We drove the car to the airport at the end of our trip, which after 8 days of driving, was easy to do.
We ate in the house for most meals, but did eat at SugarBeach Resort & Boucan, Rabot Estate.
