We rated the accomotdation as being Good, not excellent, due to the lack of airconditioning, wifi and television in the appartment. However, the Castel, reception and its restaurant are all excellent!
My husband, two children and I had a wonderful stay at the castle! We were in the old castle and had 2 different rooms because we were given the wrong room for the first night. This was due to our late night arrival and was handled perfectly. We were shown to a beautiful 3 room suite for our first night. The architecture was amazing! The next morning, we were given a choice of two other rooms as someone had reserved our current rooms. The one we chose was on the front of the castle on the 2nd floor overlooking the valley below. It was gorgeous, especially the views and the building itself. The furniture was a little aged, but fit the character of the castle. We were thrilled with our new rooms!
The restaurant was good and in a lovely location, though not open for breakfast. I recommend going into the little town, by car and getting food for mornings. The location can't be beaten. We drove into Florence one day and had no trouble.
Our only complaint was that there was no air conditioning, and while we knew that, we did not expect mosquitos. We wanted to sleep with our windows open because of the cool evenings but were unable to because of the mosquitos. Once we bought repellant, we were fine.
I would certainly return to Montegufoni!
We loved it! Absolutely beautiful building and environment. Lovely and quiet and we often felt we were the only ones there, even by the pool, although it was busier at different times of the day. Guests were friend, discreet staff in the office were helpful and friendly. Very spacious rooms, all equipment we needed and clean. We booked at the last minute so didn't have a huge choice of rooms. This one was a little dark and we didn't really want to eat indoors, so we took our breakfast downstairs and outside. Would love to go here again.
