This 2 bedroom, 1 bath house is nestled in a small mountain town called Pascoso, in the Apuane Park, 2,231 feet above sea level. Pascoso, in the Tuscan province of Lucca, has just under 100 inhabitants and is so small, with such narrow stone roads, that cars enter town along a short strip of the main road only. Nearly all the houses in town are built in stone, including their rooftops, and the smooth stones of the streets were laid hundreds of years ago.
At guest's disposal
There is a patio furnished with chairs, table sun umbrella and BBQ.Traffic is almost unheard in Pascoso. There are no nightclubs, bars, or other attractions of mass tourism. However, you will find all the essential services provided by the town's store, which is run by a local family and sells everything to meet your daily needs, from fruits and vegetables, meat and bread to laundry detergent.
Next door to the store, the family runs an old style trattoria welcoming in its genuine Tuscan hospitality, you'll feel like a guest in their home. The decor, complete with wooden benches, checkered tablecloths, and flasks of Tuscan wine on each table, adds to its charm. The dishes served are exclusively those typical of the region-wild game, delicious homemade pasta, Tuscan wines and cheeses and last, but certainly not least, homemade cakes and pies. Another restaurant/pizzeria ("La sosta") is located in the church's square of Pascoso.
By car, you can also reach more refined, fine dining restaurants in the surrounding area. There is a post office open all year round and, just a few kilometers from Pascoso, there are towns with more stores.
Pascoso is a hiker's paradise; however, it is not far from the 'cities of arts' of Tuscany:Lucca, Pisa, Florence, and Siena are 15, 30, 60, and 95 miles far; moreover,Viareggio and Forte dei Marmi, among the most famous Italian beaches, are 30 miles far, including 15 on the highway.
Not far from town (a 10- to 15-minute walk or 5-minute drive) is a charming little church on a tiny piazza, where there is a restaurant/pizzeria.
From Pascoso the road in asphalt continues for another 8 to 10 km (5 to 6 miles), and ends at the foot of Mount Matanna (4,000 feet above sea level) where you will find breathtaking fields and a restaurant.
Parking area, suitable for small cars, in front of the house. Public parking: 100 meters far.
There is a bus (2 times daily) to and from Lucca.
Pascoso's finest asset, and the most important reason to travel there, is the nature in which it is literally immersed.
Pascoso is really a hiker's paradis;many of the mule paths are suitable for mountain bikes and horses, which you can rent in Pascoso.
For some hikes you might want to drive a few short minutes to your point of departure, whereas for others, you can leave directly on foot from your front door. And clearly, for visitors with off-road vehicles, the opportunities are endless.
A section of the Turrite Stream is reserved for fishing. Trout abound, although, given the low levels of the water, they generally do not grow to be very large. Further downstream, the Turrite flows into a large, artificial basin where the fish are less numerous, but much bigger. As you may have already imagined, the only sounds you'll hear in Pascoso are dogs barking and townsfolk chatting. Quiet reigns through the mountainside. The area is ideal for hiking, horseback riding (there are two barns where you can rent horses), and biking.
However, it is not far from the "cities of arts" of Tuscany (Lucca,Pisa,Florence,Siena, etc., and beaches (Forte dei Marmi and Viareggio, which are among the most famous Italian beaches) are no more than 30 miles far.

===== ACCOMMODATION DESCRIPTION =====
The house is truly lovely. It is an 18th-century stone building with three floors spanning roughly 325 square feet each.
In short, the house is made up of: 1 kitchen/living room + 2 bedrooms ( 1 with double bed and 1 with 2 singles beds with pullout beds ) + 1 full bathroom + 1 toilet.
The house does not have a lawn, but there is space just outside the French doors leading out from the downstairs bedroom for a small table, sunshade and chairs.
There are two entrances, the front door which takes you into the kitchen/pantry and the back door which leads to the downstairs bedroom, as the house is nestled on a hill, with three floors on one side and two on the other. You should be able to get a better understanding of the layout from the pictures.
The house is fully furnished with all new or antique pieces (Tuscan pieces from the 19th century), except for a wardrobe. The light fixtures are lavish and we have provided a television (satellite), radio and CD player. We have not yet installed a telephone (there is a public phone in town if you don't have a mobile), but telephone, computer, and internet access are available at our office. A central heating system (gas) has also been installed. And, naturally, a working fireplace adorns the second floor, as how would a mountain house be complete without one!
On the ground floor there is one double bedroom.
The master bedroom, spanning nearly 325 square feet with four windows, hardwood floors and wood beamed ceilings is on the top floor. It has two single beds with pullout beds, closets, a television, CD player, and so on. This room is not only ideal for sleeping, but also serves as the perfect playroom for small children.
The main entrance is on the second floor, where you find a kitchen and living room in an open floor plan.
The kitchen is equipped with all the essential amenities: dishwasher, washing machine (in the pantry), gas stove with five cook tops, microwave, refrigerator, freezer, etc.).
On the ground floor there is one bathroom with toilet, sink and bidet and a laundry room (washing machine and storage space for suitcases, etc.).
