Now with PAVED DRIVEWAY. Welcome to the woods. Come and spend your vacation at a very special place, The Lodge at High Frontier. It is situated on 21 VERY private acres, surrounded by lush forests and overlooking a mountain stream. A large outdoor room overlooks an unspoiled mountain view. The custom built real log lodge is fully equipped with every thing you need to make your stay stress-free and easy. It has four bedrooms and three baths and a sleeping loft. Bring you family and friends and relax in real comfort. The living space is furnished with leather couches and hand built log table and chairs. We furnish all the linens so you walk into a lodge ready to use. The large hot tub comfortably seats seven and is situated at the back of the lodge in a private woodland setting. You can hike, mountain bike, or ride your ATV right from the front door for miles on old logging roads that run next to a large trout stream and through thousands of acres of wild mountain forest.

We do everything we can to 'pamper and spoil' our guests in a friendly, warm atmosphere. Come and make wonderful, priceless memories with family and friends. Brad and Ginger

Comfortable, private and dog-friendly, too!

  • 4 of 5

My family rented The Lodge during the last week of September 2016. We were a group of 3 adults plus my adult son and his friend joined us for part of the time. There was plenty of room for all of us PLUS my two dogs. The furniture is very comfortable & so are the beds - plenty of seating for all. The kitchen is well-stocked and I did not want for anything. The owners leave lots of pantry staples, spices, etc. from previous guests which helps save on cost when buying groceries. We allowed our dogs to roam freely around the property as they don't go too far. It was never a problem and the HUGE and very comfortable front porch was our absolute FAVORITE place to gather and hang out - including the dogs. We used the firepit several nights and had plenty of wood from previous guests. The only improvements needed for a 5 star review would be to improve the speed of the Internet - uploading large files was very slow; better ant control in the kitchen -it was not a big deal, but most mornings we had a trail of tiny unwanted guests crawling around the kitchen sink and counter; lack of a private bath for the king bedroom downstairs - although the hall bath is right across the hallway - but it is shared with the other bedroom and the main living area; upstairs queen bedroom is shown in pictures with a TV, so we assumed it had cable like the one downstairs, but that is not true. It can only be used to play DVDs. The only other thing that we could count as a negative would be the fact that there is another cabin on the 21 acre property. You are not all alone in the middle of 21 acres. Below The Lodge there is a cabin, but the entire time we were there we never saw anyone except the owners - we did hear the other guests the first night when we arrived, but after that all we heard at night were the crickets. It was peaceful and relaxing and I would certainly stay there again!

Owner's Response: We are sorry to hear that one of our guests had less than a perfect stay at our cabin. The ants are all gone. We were aware of the ants (tiny sugar ants) just prior to this booking and we had treated them but it take a few days for the treatment to destroy the whole colony. There are just the two log cabins on the whole 21 acres, there is a distance of at least 600 feet as the crow flies (which they do here) and this is always disclosed when asked. The cabins are remote and we feel blessed to have a DSL internet line which is usually adequate unless trying to receive or send large files. If a super fast internet is required then please ask us first and we are happy to recommend other properties not so remote. Even with our less than stellar review, we hope this guest returns.

Amazing Quiet Mountain Getaway!

  • 5 of 5

The lodge was perfect for our Girl's Weekend Away! Each of us had our own room and plenty of space to stretch out and relax. We left behind our busy lives and drove up the windy road to find this quiet retreat in a private, peaceful setting. You feel like you are all alone on the hill! The beds were comfortable, the fire was very nice and heated up quickly, hot tub was wonderful and the kitchen had everything we needed. Ginger's cookies were delicious and Brad was wonderful to help us get the hot tub up and running in just a few minutes over the phone. ATVs would have been great to have as there are many trails and logging paths to explore. Less than a half hour scenic drive takes you to Topoco at the bottom of the Dragon's Tail if you want a bit of socializing (we went to watch a football game at the grill and had an "unforgettable" time with some locals!) The fall colors were amazing for mid-October.

Our favorite place to be (besides the hot tub!) was the front porch. Sunrise and moonrise, it was beautiful. The fire pit was also nice. Groceries can be gotten at the Ingles in Robbinsville before you head up the road to the lodge - it is not a quick trip, but you are in the country and the mountains after all!

Highly recommended if you need a relaxing, spacious, isolated getaway for a small group of adults or a family or two. Had a wonderful time and hope to visit again!

An awesome lodge!

  • 4 of 5

We had a wonderful stay at the lodge and will consider returning at some point in the future. When we arrived the cabin was open and brownie bites prepared by Ginger were waiting in the cookie jar (they were delicious). When I write a review I like to explain to future guest what to expect and that’s the theme of this review. If anything seems critical that’s not the intent, just want to give a good review.

Downstairs

Large family room with gas fire logs that heat the house nicely. The TV network is Directv and it worked without any issues. The kitchen is large for a cabin and we enjoyed cooking all our meals. There is one bathroom downstairs along with 2 bedrooms (one king and one queen). The beds upstairs and down were very comfortable. The washer and dryer are in the bathroom and worked without issues.

Upstairs

There are two bedrooms upstairs and two bathrooms. One bedroom has a bathroom and the other bathroom is separate. The loft area has a sofa couch and one child who slept on it said it was comfortable.

Outside

The hot tub was very nice and we all enjoyed it. The deck area is large and while we didn’t use it, I imagine it would be wonderful in the summer. The fire pit was used two nights. There were a few pieces of firewood available and we used them in addition to searching the woods for wood.

Wi-Fi

The Wi-Fi was hit and miss. I didn’t bother me tremendously, but if you have a family that can’t do without it, this might not be the place. On the other hand that might be what you’re looking for in a cabin.

Other items

Graham Country is a dry county and the nearest town with availability is about 45 minutes from the cabin. Going west on HWY 143 puts you on a scenic route to Tennessee with several hiking trails and observation locations.

As I said above we had a wonderful time and I would encourage everyone to rent this Lodge. It’s a great get away and if we can work it out, we’ll be back.

Owner's Response: A fair and honest review. Don't know why the wifi was having a bad day, perhaps it was Thanksgiving holiday with lots of guests trying to use limited bandwidth. There are always trade-offs, we offer maximum remoteness and feel blessed to even offer internet service. We will continue to monitor this issue and get it resolved for future guests. This guest has already contacted us about a return visit.

A Place for Memories

  • 5 of 5

My comments are to assure you that the lodge is attractive and very spacious. What is not visible in the pics is its cleanliness especially with 3 bathrooms. You will get a good night sleep in the beds. All the rentals our family have enjoyed, we have never experienced such a bountiful and quality of amenities and pantry items as generously supplied by Ginger and Brad. The front deck is an area made for memories. Whether it be for bon appetit, tranquility of nature, or adventure beyond the lodge, you are gonna love it.

Absolutely Gorgeous!!

  • 5 of 5

This is were you want to spend your vacation in the mountains!!!

This was our third time to the area and our first time renting a vacation property and we could not be more pleased with our decision.

Brad and Ginger were fantastic hosts...they helped us with all our questions regarding the lodge, directions, the area and were always available a phone call away for any questions regarding the property during our stay.

The property was spectacular, serene, the perfect getaway if your looking for peace and quiet. It is conveniently located to all the attractions around the area and fabulous to come back to after a day of adventuring.

A paradise for dirt bikes and quads, we never made it to the end of any trail we set out on and the hot tub was nice to come back to after a day of riding to sit under the stars and relax.

The lodge is very clean and beautiful, so much custom wood detail and great furniture. All the amenities of home were provided. I was even pleased there was an electric mixer as it was my boyfriends birthday and i wanted to bake a cake.

You can rent this property with confidence...We will most certainly be back to this hidden gem in the mountains...

Relaxing family getaway

  • 5 of 5

Our family couldn't have asked for a better experience. The cabin was beautiful and spacious enough for our party of six. Our teenagers enjoyed the rustic look of a cabin with modern amenities. Upon our arrival we were pleased to see a roaring fire in the fireplace and sample some sweet treats that had been baked by Ginger. Our family enjoyed the perks of this non-commercialized setting. We enjoyed hiking to the creek, sitting by the fire pit, and relaxing in the hot tub .I would highly recommend staying at this property if you are looking for a quiet and simplified destination to unwind.

This new log cabin is located about 14 miles due West of Robbinsville, NC in an unspoiled and unpopulated area with lush forests, tall mountains and fast flowing mountain streams. The setting is so special that it will probably redefine the the terms 'private and remote'. This is a no stress environment offering a scenic feast for the eyes, clean air and water and the natural background sound of a bold mountain stream cascading over large boulders. The immediate area offers trout fishing, hiking or strolling, extreme mountain biking, hunting, ATV riding and nature walks or just rest! A short drive away, you will find boating on Lakes Santeetlah and Fontana, scenic driving or motorcycling on the Cherohala Skyway and The Tail of the Dragon. Great Smoky Mountain National Park, Joyce Kilmer/Slickrock and Big Snowbird Wilderness Area. Cherokee and Harrah's Casino. Smoky Mountain Scenic Railroad. Stecoah Valley Center, whitewater rafting, fine dining and local art and craft studios
