Sunny Collioure villa.Private pool, terraces, close to centre unrestricted parking

Bedrooms 4
Space 2,368 sq. ft.
Property type villa
Minimum Stay 7 nights

About the property

Semi Detached Villa, with private New Pool, various terraces and garden

Villa rose` Collioure.

located in the lower heights of Collioure a short walk into town.

This villa has recently undergone a complete renovation.

kitchen /bathrooms etc all re fitted and modernised, all new units, oven hob, washing machine and dishwasher etc.

all bedrooms well appointed and the whole property meticulously cleaned before every arrival by a local dedicated team.

1 with shower wc and handbasin,1 with bath with shower over and wc and handbasin, also a wc and handbasin on the ground floor.

the villa can sleep up to 9 people in four there is a good travel cot for infants.

there are two double bedrooms, one of which has a balcony with table and chairs for morning coffees. 2nd double has lovely sunny views up to the mountains and vineyards.

there is a large room with three single beds, and a gallery room with twin single beds.

well appointed allowing for family eating without always having to eat out, with doors out onto the south facing terrace, allowing access to one of the exterior dining areas ,also accessed from the dining room by separate doors.

living room

is a split level open plan space with the dining area on the lower level, the living area has french doors to the garden at the front and the dining area has doors to the rear terraces.

the dining room has seating for a high chair if needed.

The vaulted lounge area has 2 large leather sofas with a television and WiFi, there is French television service, also there is a "chromecast" fitted allowing access to uk tv and radio, also netflix you tube etc, teenagers will connect in seconds adults a while longer. and also (not needed in summer)a lovely wood burning stove.

entertainment/games room

,this is on the lower level accessing the outdoor dining area and pool area,in these rooms there is a large screen tv with dvd player and films (bring your own if favourites)also there is an area with a full sized football table ,this allows teenagers and younger ones a degree of freedom and adults a degree of quiet! electric radiator heating in all rooms with heated towel rails in the bathrooms.

off the kitchen and dining room there is a large balcony-terrace,overlooking the pool on the level below, with table and chairs for six, with a BBQ and "plancha (fantastic spanish cast iron hotplate)" and other facilities. there is then a spiral staircase to the lower levels, to the right is another very private dining area with table and chairs for eight, this has outside lighting for evening eating and entertaining, also a large brolly /parasol,(please wind in during the windy times), to the left there is a new in ground salt water pool, which if you bathe regularly is much kinder on skin and hair, chlorine being harsh, and being so hot in summer the pools require high levels of chemical maintenance to ensure hygiene there is a pool maintenance team come in twice a week to check levels and keep the pool clean ,the pool is 3.5 metres x 7 metres, with the deep area being 1.8 metres the pool has no stepped shallow area allowing swimming/diving to be enjoyed the full length of the pool, its alarmed for safety and security,it can also be observed and monitored from the terrace above, there are lights in and around the pool for night time bathing.the pool is not heated but faces south and is in sunlight pretty much all day.

the private lower dining area is also accessed from the lower lounge/area as well as from the spiral staircase.

there is off street parking for one large car,and there is unrestricted parking for other cars too.parking in the centre of Collioure is always a challenge in the summer season so the facility to park immediately outside the house is a blessing with shopping etc. there is a garage in the house which can be used for bikes/toys etc by arrangement.

The villa is situated in a quiet part of the town which allows for a relaxed and less stressful holiday space.

the walk into town is a 12/15 minute stroll with an option to walk down the Duey river into the centre of town, bringing you directly into the bay and sea.the other route brings you into the other bay in Collioure by the side of the castle.

in the summer the river bed is dry, although in summer storms water can rush down unexpectedly!!! look on you tube to see the consequences of parking there and not listening to locals!!!!

there are a multitude of restaurants in Collioure some of which are gourmet experiences some just honest bistro type with menus to suit most palettes, also there are various wine bars dotted around town ,one to visit must be les templiers, history and a great glass of wine in the same place. around the walls is a wonderful vista of oil paintings from many local artists going back very many decades.

if you are coming in from Perpignan then a good idea is to stop off at either a large supermarket in Argeles sur mer ,or Perpignan itself the massive Auchan in Perpignan being akin to a horror trip to Ikea ,but great food and fantastic choice.

there is a great local "mini supermarket "in Collioure but its best to think of it as foot traffic only as its in the centre of town ,so mineral water and other heavy goods are best planned ahead.

also on Wednesday and Sunday mornings there is a wonderful market in the town centre Catalan produce and other treats.

Local destinations..

the roads get very busy in summer so a nice thing about Villa Rose is that you can leave town to travel locally without too much troubles.

Argeles sur mer is about 4 kmtrs away with nice beaches,Racou beach being a specially nice "secret"destination. long sandy beaches ,also no problem parking with a few bars and restaurants dotted along.

Port Vendres, stunning, working port with wonderful restaurants of every summer the walk from the house to Port Vendres along the coast road takes about 40 minutes not at a crazy pace , if you want to drive there is plenty of parking, the rewards are a much quieter town so restaurants less crowded, and a wonderful fish market, the days catch sold along the quay.

a good place to visit is Paulilles recreation park, dont worry the dynamite factory is now closed and has been beautifully restored as a family venue on the beach. go early as parking is limited but a whole day on the beach with a picnic is a must.

many other towns and villages are easily accessed and each offer something unique.

the beaches in the Collioure are mainly pebble and swimming is safe and clean(the sea is crystal clear)the depth in most of the bay being under a metre.

if you wish to hear more or have any specific questions please dont hesitate to contact us.

About Andrew Barr

we have owned a house in the same road for ten years ,and bought this as a way of spending even more time in Collioure overseeing and supervising the works as a reason to keep coming down here, so without intrusion we are available for any queries /issues you may have during your stay.or regarding any aspect about Collioure.

at the ripe old age of 64 i have taken to the water on a rib boat,i have bought one but they can be rented locally( sans permis, without licence)its a great treat to see the area from the sea,,,those not wishing to see the sea that close a walk along the coast comes a close second

susy and andy

Andrew Barr purchased this villa in 2012

Why Andrew Barr chose Pyrenees-Orientales Coast

we are sure that whatever home you choose to rent in Collioure you will love your stay,we love to spend time in our home there at all times of the year even in January /February there is a lovely feeling in the town.

we hope you choose to come to our villa,as we have put love care and thought into making it what we hope is a place you feel is your home in Collioure, and that you will wish to return often.

the house is completely self contained and self sustaining,so if you dont want to go into town at any time there is no need, cooking bathing (sun or pool)so on lazy days you dont feel pressured to trot out.

also there are beautiful artisan houses in the centre of town,,,beautiful they may be chocolate box pretty, but tiny inside ,with no outside space, access is really limited ,parking is awful, and the thing you (or i do) want on holiday is the option of peace and quiet,in the centre the restaurants and bars dont close until late, then the youngsters can keep you awake til even later, then the street cleaning starts at 6am.....

all in all a very nice part of town.

What makes this villa unique

this home allows the pool to be used all times of day and night,(be aware of other residents locally, noise carries at night)meaning on those really hot evenings it allows you to just enjoy yourselves....

parking directly outside or on the front drive, equipped as a home not just a holiday home,so you arent just sleeping here and rushing out.

all generations will find something to remember about their stay in villa rose, from youngsters playing in the pool,to teenagers walking up to the disco (foam party, adults not allowed),to adults relaxing with a glass of local wine in the evening by the pool.

the second downstairs tv/games room allows a break between generations and should the weather be wet(yes even in Collioure it has to rain sometimes) it means kids and even adults can be doing different types of indoor fun.

Lovely, spacious, well-equipped villa

  • 5 of 5

This lovely villa was very spacious for our party of 8 on holiday as an extended family.

The villa was very comfortable allowing the family to spread out and chill as required, and the kitchen and other areas were equipped to a high standard.

Nice touches also included a library with some good crime fiction, beach towels, pool loungers, as well as barbecue with charcoal and barbecue tools.

Our youngest (aged 11) was particularly impressed with the pool! We particularly liked the fruiting grape vine on our bedroom balcony and the terrace outside the kitchen with its lovely views, for breakfast and after-dinner coffee.

We'd love to come back to Collioure one day!

Great house. But cover your bases, and if something arises, don't expect to meet a voice of reason.

  • 2 of 5

Two families, four adults, five children. Lovely house, lovely town. But:

There were some problems between our hosts and us. First: Our host was out of mobile range when we arrived, even though our arrival was confirmed in advance. It took some time getting hold of her, getting keys and access. A minor matter, but hopefully not habitual.

Some of the things listed in the ad were missing from the house, like an x-box and some bikes. The bikes were brought in after we asked for them. Some lights were out of order, one of the beds could not take the weight of an adult, there were supposed to be a pool alarm, and the ad said that the house should be, and I quote, «meticulously cleaned», by a «dedicated team». Well, bedrooms and bathrooms were fine, but the basement, where the tv was, was rather smelly, the couch both old and not quite clean-looking. We did not raise a fuss about any of this, because these things were trivial. Seems right to mention them now, as we were accused of causing many of these problems afterwards.

The ending of our stay was marred by a misunderstanding about cleaning. The ad at that time did not mention cleaning by the guests at all (this is updated now). We assumed that cleaning was included in the price. Our assumption was strengthened by the fact that neither the contract nor the information folder found in the house mentioned cleaning at all. This lead to a bad situation when we were going to leave for our train, and our host asks «what about cleaning?». Of course, we had to leave, and agreed to sort this out afterwards. Our deposit was docked 300£, the total cost of cleaning the house. Seeing as our agreement never mentioned cleaning, this seemed a bit much, so we wrote and explained the misunderstanding, hoping to at least share the cost. This resulted in a very sarcastic answer from our previously well disposed host, where she drew into question both our education and intelligence. In addition, she went through the house taking pictures of a lot of problems, most related to lack of cleaning, other that we ourselves had pointed out earlier, which we did not cause. Also, the strong wind we had a couple of days, that blew a couple of small sheets of paper into the pool was our responsibility. Our children were accused of jumping on the furniture, which we made sure they didn't do. This salty response took us by surprise, and our answer, where we tried to respond to these claims point by point, is as yet unanswered.

This place was awesome! We were there during a music festival and were sooo happy to be further out of the noisy center, but still within walking distance if you don't mind a ten to 15 min stroll. Take the sidewalk next to the water gulley right to the middle of town! No cars)

Beautiful house, beautiful pool! Spent many afternoon siestas under the palm tree next to the pool.

Owner's Response: how wonderful to receive such nice feedback!!!!! we were in our home just up the road and are always loathe to pop in for fear of seeming to intrude on what is somebody else,s space but when we walked past on our way to town all we heard was laughter and people having fun! from ist communication i was sure this guest was nice, and my feelings proved correct. the house was left spick and span and the echoing with smiles and laughter. Collioure says come back anytime. andy

Lovely villa in a beautiful resort

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our two weeks in Collioure, what a beautiful place! We loved the whole area and thought Collioure was quite spectacular with some fantastic restaurants and places to sit and enjoy the view. The villa was very well equipped and comfortable and we had some lovely evenings relaxing on the terraces with local wine and BBQ food, with fantastic views of the sun setting over the Pyrenees. A terrific base for exploring the area, we enjoyed days out in the Pyrenees as well as visiting beaches along the coast and walking the coastal path, equally a quiet afternoon by the pool or on one of Collioure's scenic beaches was a lovely way to relax and soak up the serene atmosphere. We'll be back!!

Beautiful Villa, Stunning Village, Loved It!

  • 5 of 5

I stayed at Villa Rose with a large group of Friends at the end of Summer 2015.

It was such a lovely house, which was really well equipped, and felt like a real home away from home.

The owners, Andy & Suzie, couldnt have been more helpful, and offered advice & tips on the best the area had to offer, where to shop, Which local wine to try!

We really loved the village of Collioure, which was a ten minute stroll away from the house, and found there to be a wide selection of great bars & restaurants, but it was also really nice to sit on the one of the (multiple!) terraces at the house, and have a large group dinner watching the sunset!

I am planning on a return visit to Villa Rose this summer, absolutely loved it!

Owner's Response: thank you so much for your review, also , thank you all for leaving the house in such a nice way,and the bottle of red wine was a lovely thought! I hope it will help other guests make Collioure their destination for holidays. if you are coming back again im sure you will like the things we have done in the lower level, the football table seems to be a favourite when the weather stops outside play.

Lovely villa in a beautiful location

  • 5 of 5

Returned yesterday from this lovely little place of colliour!,

Surrounded by beautiful views, plenty of restaurants, and quaint little shops!,

The villa was well equipped, comfortable and very spacious.

We were greeted by the owners, Andy and Suzie who couldn't do enough for you and made us most welcome, (a big Thankyou to them).

Situated in a quiet little road with only a 15 min walk into the town, which is truly stunning!

An abundance of restaurants serving a great choice of fish and shellfish!! Would recommend booking in peak season as all were so busy.

I would recommend a car to explore the beauty of the area. We visited a local vineyard, the valley of the tortoises in Sorede, Argeles- sur- mer, Port Vendes but unfortunately only had a week so will need to return to explore further!!!!

Would 100% recommend this villa to anyone who maybe looking for a lovely stay in this beautiful part of France.

the villa is set back from the centre of Collioure in a quiet cul de sac with plenty of unrestricted parking directly outside,12 minutes walk to the bays and beaches, restaurants and shops.

the bay offers safe shallow swimming, in summer there are diving rafts and pedalos.

with restaurants,bars,cafes on both bays.

historic castle and cathar church, dating back to the 13th century

.boat trips leave the pier regularly to other ports along the coast,a pleasant inexpensive way to enjoy a different view of the area.

in august there is a festival (fetes de st vincent) from the 14th to the 18th with a memorable firework display taking over the whole town(nice being 600 metres outside the centre!!) .there are events for a whole range of ages, during the day and going into the small hours.

there are dozens of restaurants open in season, varying from michelin starred to wonderful seafood venues! plus lots of budget, family friendly eateries ,where even fussy diners will be happy with the choices.most sea front restaurants are open air, allowing children enjoyment without restriction.

there are a selection of well stocked food shops in town with a wonderful market on wednesday and sunday mornings, offering local produce from wines to fruits and vegetables as well as cheeses and meats herbs and spices.also there are many artisan bakers offering freshly baked bread and patisserie,in the busy season it is probably best to walk in for this as parking is in demand, especially on market days.

close to Collioure there are other towns and villages with varying attractions.

Paulilles beach previously Nobels dynamite factory ,now a fabulous heritage destination offering an all day picnic venue for peaceful and free enjoyment of the beaches and gardens, either free parking or the 1euro bus from collioure every half hour.

alternatively Argeles sur mer offering miles of sandy beaches most of which are supervised by lifeguards.

further along at St Cyprien there are jet skis for hire,an equestrian centre and golf course.

half hours drive inland is Ceret, which offers a chance to view the museum of modern art ,containing works by Picasso and other revered modern artists. Ceret also has a wonderful market on a Saturday.

Being close to Perpignan there is the opportunity to explore and discover some of the history of the area.

Barcelona is appx a two hour drive over the border and is well worth a visit.

the area is very cosmopolitan with most languages spoken in shops and restaurants

there are two very good pharmacies in Collioure with English speaking doctors available.
