This ranch-style single family home has been owned by one family since 'Grandpa' built it the '40s. It has 3 bedrooms, two baths, living room with wood burning fireplace, dining room, office and TV/family room, large back room, in more than 2500 square feet. Single story, this home is surrounded by private lawn and gardens. Wonderful flow and outdoor living make this home an ideal retreat from which to base exploration of all the area offers.
Located on Salinas Highway a stones throw from the airport, this house on a family compound is central to many great sites and adventures. Only an eight minute drive to the beach. Also close by: Laguna Seca, Carmel by the Sea, Monterey Bay Aquarium, Pebble Beach, Big Sur and Pacific Grove just to name a few.

This beautiful property was purchased by my grandfather and grandmother back in the 1940's. The home was built by my grandfather with help from loving family and friends. My grandfather learned contracting working on sites like Hurst Castle under Julia Morgan and Superintendant George Loorz. My grandmother was born in Thousand Oaks, CA. Her grandmother came to California in a wagon-train around 1864. My grandparents met in Thousand Oaks, married and settled here in Monterey CA. They built a large family and a large homestead which we now call Rancho Buena Vista (the name given to it by my grandparents).

It's beautiful views and botanical grounds resinate the love and care that was put into this home when it was built by my ancesters in the 1940's. One can sense the love here and the peace. One can still feel the good times that were had here and are still had by family and friends!
We have a large house that is beautifully decorated. We have horses grazing just across the fence. We have apple trees producing fruit to feed the horses who are very glad to be given a fresh apple. Views of Mount Toro and Jack's Peak and the famous Tarpy flats. When the wind is blowing our way you may hear the sea lions call coming from the Monterey Harbor. We are close to everything yet far enough away so that it's quiet and country. At night you may hear the coyote's call and in the evening you'll hear the doves coo.
Great place and very homey and comfortable! Great choice for a family gathering. Highly recommended.
I brought my family of 7 here for a week while I attended a conference in Monterey. Had the best time! The large open yard, private and fenced, made it perfect for grandparents, parents, and young children. Plenty of sleeping space and the kitchen was spacious and delightful to cook in. Easy access to Monterey--by bike or car, the beaches, stores., even hiking trails. Felt like we were out in the country but close to everything we wanted to do. The aquarium passes topped it all off! Kids loved seeing the horses too. Madeline was tremendously helpful with arrangements and questions about the local area--even helped us find the best bike route into town! Thanks so much--we loved our stay.
We had a family reunion at this house and it was fantastic! Very large back yard which the grandkids loved. The front courtyard was also fenced with small gates to keep out the deer and keep in the kids. Lots of room inside and great kitchen to work in. One thing which I didn't see mentioned in the description is that the master bedroom is quite large! We put my daughter and her husband in there with 2 porta cribs for 8 month old twins and there was still plenty of room to walk around. The house is very close to beaches and the Aquarium, and there is hiking nearby also. I especially loved that it is off the beaten track, but still near to everything. Surrounded by trees and beautiful grounds. Madeline was great to answer all my questions when I emailed or texted before our arrival. She was also available during our stay, but thank goodness I never had to bother her because everything was PERFECT!
What an amazing house to stay at! We, a family of 5, rented the house with our friends, a family of 4, and had plenty of space for all 9 of us! And our two dogs! Much to our excitement there were 2 horses in a field behind the house...my kids loved waking up and checking on the horses. We hope to rent this house again next summer.
We stay and VRBO in Carmel/Monterey a lot. This is one of my new favorites. Very spacious house and wonderful gardens. We brought out 2 small/med dogs and they loved the out door gardens. The larger one is not fully fenced for a smaller dog, but the smaller yard is. Lots of light and very comfortable. We were greeted and given a tour to ensure our comfort. We did have a question while we were there and they texted us back quite quickly. 10 min to downtown Monterey and 12 to Carmel beach for a run with the dogs. 2 min to a starbucks and 5 minutes to safeway for groceries.
We had a bachelorette wknd at this gorgeous ranch house. Everything was perfect. Madeline was so sweet and helpful. She even picked our friend up from the airport since we weren't getting in till much later. Very comfortable. Beautiful grounds. We had the best girls wknd ever!!!
Near by to the world-famous Monterey Bay Aquarium and Pebble Beach.

Our standard rate is $400 per night and weekends are $450/night. If you stay for 6 nights or more, we can do a flat $350/nt rate. Prices may very depending on local events, holidays and depending on the number of people staying in the house, prices are subject to change until your reservation is confirmed. Deposit will be 20% of rent total. The house sleeps 12 if each spot in each bed is filled, however, any number of people over 6 is $50/head per night. Large groups increase wear and tear on the house.
Monterey County requires that we charge a 10.5% tot (transient occupancy tax) on rent.
