I am retired military and am from Colorado. I met my husband while working here in San Vito. He is a Chef and we decided to stay here in San Vito to raise a family.
J. Ashley purchased this villa in 2008
Location, Location, Location..... its close enough to walk to town but it feels isolated because its on a dead end road with no traffic. You can reach the beaches and highway access in 7 km and town is 1.5km to the main road.
My husband and I reconstructed our home over 4 years. It has been a labor of love and we are happy to invite you to be our guests.
We had an amazing vacation, the villa exceeded our expectations. The villa was spacious for 6 of us, highly maintained, and had all the comforts and items we needed. The owners were very helpful and kind. The pool was the highlight and the outdoor living area was comfortable and convienent for coming and going into the kitchen being the heart of our vacation. We loved the food and the local village had great restaurants and lots of evening entertainment. The villa was easyly accessable and most evenings we walked into town. Beautiful towns and beaches nearby. And it was great being so close to the airport as the second part of our party arrived later.
We definitely reommended this villa and this town. We look forward to a return visit
We had such a lovely time at villa Grace.... despite the weather being unusually wet for September. Jackie was great, meeting us the day we arrived, and later that day drove back and led us on a tour of all the important points in town..... The most important one being the amazing wine shop. Oh so cheap!! The villa is well equipped, and the outside area amazing. So much room, and the pool is huge. Lots to do in the area, and various restaurants in St. Vito. Ex fadda our favourite for cornetist and cappacino and Locanda Nonna Mena our fav restaurant. Many Thanks Jackie, Vincenzo and Grace. Lovely to meet you all.
This is our 4th visit to this lovely villa. Well equipped with a homely feel, the pool and surrounding outside area is fantastic. The owners are friendly and very welcoming and nothing is too much trouble. Quite near to the town of San Vito, although if you wish to visit the many beautiful towns around it a car is advisable.
Jackie met us in San V and we followed her to her home/villa. First impressions were great, the house is a house and furnished in that way as opposed to some clinical soulless villas that you find on OD. The pool is fantastic and the pool area excellent. Yes you could do with padding on some of the sunbeds but that did not detract. The pool itself is the biggest pool we have ever seen at a villa where we have stayed and it was a real bonus for us.
San V and in general in that part of Italy we found that not many people if any really spoke English. The Italian phrase book was out all the time and for people that enjoy trying to get by in a different country with a different language this is perfect and great fun !
San V itself is clean and has lots of bars for drinks etc and of an evening it really comes to life with lots of Italians out for the evening. There are not loads and loads or restaurants but there are some and all the bars cater so you are never short of food options locally. There are 3 large supermarkets in town so its very easy to stock up on essentials and not that we did but if you want to cook at home then it would be easy to achieve. There were two beaches in particular 15/20 mins drive away that were great. The protected beach area of Torre Guaceto was the best. You drive there, park up, pay 5 euros and a bus takes you to the beach and the bus basically to’s and fro’s all day. Jackie also pointed us in the direction of several other beaches so there were always options.
We like to travel and my biggest tip would be to use trip advisor, especially for local restaurants. We found loads of lovely places to eat at nearby towns within 20 mins drive. Some of the smaller towns are lovely and less crowded than some of the larger and more obvious places to head to. I would suggest, Carovigno, Mesange and San Michele. The lager towns of Ostuni & Brindisi are equally nice but are busy and parking can be a challenge.
We took longer trips to Alberobello, Gallipoli and Lecce, the trips were not long and you can see and go to so many different places all within an hour or so. Sat Nav built in the car was very handy.
Italy is beautiful, Jackie and her family were so welcoming but aware that on holiday you like at arms length contact. The house and pool were great, it was easy getting around and the food and beer first class. All in all I would not hesitate to recommend this house and area to anyone wanting to explore Italy.
We chose this villa in the hope that it would suit the combined wishes of a couple looking for a quiet retreat and two eighteen year olds who wanted easy access to a town with a bit of nightlife and shopping and we really hit the jackpot with this gorgeous property. It is down a secluded dead end lane so it is totally private, yet is is less than 2km from the local town of San Vito dei Normanni. The roads leading to town are quiet and street-lit so you could easily walk if you wanted to although I confess we tended to take the car out of sheer laziness. San Vito has a lovely mix of bars, restaurants, boutique shops, a bookshop where we enjoyed the most wonderful evening of food and wine tasting at our host Jackie's recommendation, and some interesting architecture. The villa is also close to other places that made for enjoyable trips, such as Brindisi, the beach at Penna Grossa, Cisternino, Locorotondo, the lovely trulli houses at Alberobello and Polignano a Mare. Perhaps the best thing for us was the fact the whole region was very Italian and not over-run by tourists. Even the local market we visited one morning was very much a local affair, even though it was huge. The only touristy place we visited was Ostuni, although it is so beautiful it is a must-see and even then it still retained a local feel.
The villa itself is beautifully appointed and is actually the main home for the hosts Jackie and her family in the winter months. It's an old property so the walls are thick and the rooms stay cool in the summer heat, but there is a/c in the bedrooms to ensure a comfortable night's sleep. All windows contain mosquito mesh, but because the property is away from the town there was usually a slight breeze which meant that we were not really bothered by them at all. The villa kitchen is really well appointed with utensils, dishwasher etc, outside there is a huge stone BBQ, covered area and a vast choice of seating around the pool which meant that both sun lovers and those who burn easily could all be comfortable. I can't stress how welcome Jackie and her family made us all, even to the extent of getting provisions in for us (we arrived after 11pm). Jackie was fun and friendly if we fancied a chat, and completely unobtrusive when we wanted some private time. I can't recommend this villa enough; we will certainly be returning as soon as possible and will treasure our memories of this holiday.
We have recently returned from two weeks staying in Villa Grazia in San Vito Dei Normanni. What a great holiday - the villa was lovely, recently refurbished to a high standard and offered everything we needed and more. The beds were extremely comfortable, showers were really good, the kitchen was well equipped but the absolute icing on the cake was the outside area! The pool is wonderful and the various sitting areas offer extra space both in full sun or the shade! The gazebo area is well equipped with comfortable armchairs and small tables. The outside BBQ area is perfectly located next to the side door and close to the kitchen. Jackie and Vincenzo were wonderful, they are helpful and so friendly and took care of the pool, watering the garden and helped out with the rubbish collections!
The location is rural and quiet, but really pleasant - the villa is a good 20-25 minute walk from the nearest restaurant, however San Vito is lovey. It took a little getting used to as it is not at all touristy, but this adds to its charm - we were very lucky to visit during the annual Fiesta - a real bonus! There are good restaurants and access to other areas is excellent - the roads were great and driving wasn't too stressful!!
We would definitely recommend visiting Ostuni and Albarabello was just stunning - we did the Segway tour, very informative, interesting and a lot of fun!
Thank you again Jackie.... we had a very relaxing and enjoyable holiday x
