This property is designed so nicely nestled in the oaks with nature. Deer often roaming, relaxing and resting in the meadow below the deck.

What makes this house unique

Our secluded oak retreat is incredible for enjoying sunsets, star gazing, wild flowers and bird watching all from the comfort of the deck, hot tub, or large windows in the living-room.

This custom home was designed by a local designer with lots of special details. The open beam ceiling, gable windows and skylights allows the home to feel light and spacious.

Dream Rental!

  • 5 of 5

This was the perfect rental for our Yosemite Trip. The rental was incredibly spacious, clean, and comfortable. It was great to relax in the hot tub and look at all the stars at night, and eat breakfast outside in the morning and look at all of the birds and deer in the yard. The owners were very attentive, fair and easy to reach. There were really nice details all through the rental, such as the new wood burning stove, clear instructions and labels on everything (which is incredibly helpful while at a rental place!), clean linens and towels, and a great kitchen. The location was right off the main road to Yosemite, close enough to a great supermarket and pharmacy, but still isolated enough to not hear a single noise aside from wildlife while outside. We would definitely recommend this as a perfect rental for any visit to Yosemite, or just to get away from it all and relax.

Beautiful secluded retreat with all the amenities you could ever want! Highly recommended!

This is a beautiful home and was the perfect place for our family of 4 adults to spend a week. It is very spacious and airy but still feels cozy and comfy. Our family is spread out in Chicago, Austin and San Francisco so we met in San Fran and drove over (3.5-4hrs) to spend a week at Yosemite National Park. We wanted a place that allowed us to relax and enjoy some family time but was close enough to Yosemite that we could spend our days hiking and exploring the park. (The park was unbelievably stunning, but that's another review!) All the descriptions and photos posted for this home were accurate: There are two bedrooms, two full bathrooms, a sofa bed in the living room and a kitchen fully stocked with ALL the dishes, cooking utensils, pots & pans etc. you could ever want or need. We were concerned about having to use a sofa bed but our kids reported that it was really comfortable! No bars or sagging thin mattress - it was a nice solid foam mattress on a flat platform. There was a full bedding set up for use with the sofa bed as well. There is a hot tub outside which we used once. We were so exhausted after our days in the park that we usually came home and dived into bed immediately, but it was fun on our last night to relax under the harvest moon in the warmth of a nice soak. We didn't use the wood burning stove as it was 90+ during our stay and we needed the AC - not heat! The solitude and quiet were amazing and wild turkeys, humming birds and deer visited the property. We liked the fact that the town of Mariposa was only about 10 minutes away. We ate at some great restaurants there (we highly recommend Charles Street Dinner House and Savoury's), and found that the Pioneer Market grocery store had everything we needed at very reasonable prices. The home is an hour drive from the park entrance (Another 20+minutes to Yosemite Village from there) but the road is beautiful and since it was later in the season the traffic going to/from the park wasn't a problem. If it was peak season I would anticipate the drive could be slower as it is very mountainous and there are rarely areas to pass. So my advice is to sit back and enjoy the journey - just allow enough time to get to the park if you have reservations for anything inside the park. If you want a getaway retreat fairly close to Yosemite this is an excellent option!

Great time in a very nice cabin at Midpine, Mariposa

  • 5 of 5

Nice furniture, clean house, excellent equipment, nothing is missing. We enjoyed a great time. It was a pity that our schedule did not allow to stay longer. "Herzlichen Dank" to Kathleen and Alex.

We had a truly wonderful relaxing time in Mariposa. The Cabin is lovely with beautiful surroundings and has the added benefit of a hot tub.The location is great for visiting Yosemite and the town of Mariposa is great and has all the facilities that we needed. Restaurants, supermarket and petrol station. I would thoroughly recommend to my family and friends. We have come home with lovely memories

Warm, Welcoming & Responsive

  • 5 of 5

It's difficult to select a home through Internet listings, but we are so pleased with our selection of Pine Canyon Retreat. Initially, the hot tub was attractive, but every day during our stay was over 100 degrees (rare, we hear) and we didn't even think about the tub on property. The tub is an extra benefit, because the home and location are definitely worth strong consideration. The attention to cleanliness and responsiveness of the owners was outstanding, and the home is perfect location for a secluded yet safe setting. It's also a beautiful drive to Yosemite, similar to most other homes we considered. Ask the owner for recommendations on hikes, drives and restaurants as they were all perfect for our needs.

This experience is exactly why we use VRBO.

Overall a pleasant experience

  • 4 of 5

We were here only 3 nights so we could experience Yellowstone np , home is spacious and comfortable. Had a couple minor issues and owner was prompt to reply to assist. Recommend putting update chairs on patio and some chest or somewhere to place unpacked items in guest bedroom , other than that I would say it's nice home overall
