This property is designed so nicely nestled in the oaks with nature. Deer often roaming, relaxing and resting in the meadow below the deck.
Our secluded oak retreat is incredible for enjoying sunsets, star gazing, wild flowers and bird watching all from the comfort of the deck, hot tub, or large windows in the living-room.
This custom home was designed by a local designer with lots of special details. The open beam ceiling, gable windows and skylights allows the home to feel light and spacious.
We were here only 3 nights so we could experience Yellowstone np , home is spacious and comfortable. Had a couple minor issues and owner was prompt to reply to assist. Recommend putting update chairs on patio and some chest or somewhere to place unpacked items in guest bedroom , other than that I would say it's nice home overall
We had a wonderful time staying at Pine Canyon Retreat! It is definitely secluded and peaceful. We enjoyed relaxing in the hot tub after our hikes in Yosemite. It did take 45 minutes to get to the entrance of Yosemite, but is was such a lovely drive, we didn't mind the distance. There is a great grocery store right in the town of Mariposa, a 10 - 15 minute drive from the property. The home had everything we needed for cooking a few meals, we even grilled outside one evening. We had wished that there was more tables and seating on the deck area. Except for some areas that needed some repairs, the home was exactly as expected from the VRBO site and would recommend this property to anyone looking for a place near Yosemite!
We booked this property after extensive research for our base whilst visiting Yosemite. I don't think we could have made a better choice! The house is beautifully presented with many little finishing touches which makes it feel like a home away from home.
The setting is amazing, and feels secluded with no view of any neighbours. At night, the views of the stars are great, and with the skylight in the bedroom you can even watch the stars from your bed.
We found the hot tub relaxing after our days in Yosemite, and the deck that surrounds the house was great for sitting out having a few drinks. Gas barbecue outside and full kitchen inside meant we didn't really need to go into the town of Mariposa as we cooked all our own meals, however it is close if you need provisions.
The whole experience was wonderful, being from the UK we do not have such amazing wilderness areas so was a new experience and very peaceful to stay in such a lovely setting. We saw deer and hummingbirds, and luckily none of the scary creatures such as bears and rattlesnakes! The owners were very quick to reply to all correspondence and couldn't have been any better.
Thank you Kathleen and Alex for allowing us to stay in your property, our only complaint is that we didn't book for long enough! We are looking at booking again maybe for a week or so in the future, I will be in touch once we confirm dates.

This is a quiet, secluded home less than an hour from Yosemite (just down Route 140). We had a wonderful 3 night stay - we weren't in the house much, as we were in the park from mid-morning until well after sunset photographing the stars. However, it was sooo nice to come home to a place that was super private and comfortable, with a washing machine to do hiking laundry, and a kitchen to make and eat our own food (food in the park is mediocre at best). We would definitely stay here again, and would recommend it to friends.
We throughly enjoyed our stay at this well-equipped house near Yosemite. Comfortable beds, including a pull out sofa bed. While we didn't use the hot tub, it was there. We did take advantage of the outdoor grill. We would gladly stay her again.
We loved staying at Pine Canyon Retreat. The open plan of the house, the wood burning stove and large windows made us feel relaxed and at ease. One of things we love about staying at rented home is how clutter free they are, and how peaceful that can be. The kitchen is well stocked with wonderful knives and appliances that worked well, and we were able to enjoy several meals there. I don't know about the grocery stores in the area because we brought all of our own food. Beds are comfortable, and sheets and towels are very nice and the place was immaculate. I would suggest some more throw blankets or extra blankets for the beds however. We used an extra blanket on both beds and this meant there would not have been bedding for the pull out couch had we needed it. We made a day trip to Yosemite which was very accessible and enjoyable. Staying here made just going for the day (we have small children) easy to do. After a long day, the hot tub was wonderful to come home too, and not too hot for our little people to enjoy as well. Directions and information were perfect and Kathleen was wonderful to deal with. Thank you both.
Great for birders. The swimming in Bear Creek and the Merced River are fabulous in the summer!
