Do you dream about a place with crystal clear turquoise water? Uncrowded beaches with pale pink sand? Boating to secluded islands? Snorkeling and diving with no one else around? World Class Deep Sea, Reef and Bonefishing? A place with casual beach front bars? Well, Abaco & Great Guana Cay are for you!
Beach Walk Cottage is a recently remodeled three bedroom, two bath house in Great Guana Cay’s Settlement. We’re very close to the Public Dock, just make a right and then a left at Milo’s Vegetable Stand and you’re there! We’re 150 yards to one of Abacos most beautiful beaches and within walking distance to the World Famous Nippers and Grabbers. Also close by is Island Flavors (great burgers and sandwiches), Fig Tree Liquor and the new Drug Store & Sandwich Shop. Just around the corner is Sea Shore Villas/Pirate's Cove featuring Jerry & Chorene's yummy home made food and a tiki bar! Guana Grocery is a little bit further down the road.
Although there are ceiling fans throughout the cottage, there’s central air conditioning for those days that you need it. The master bedroom has a very comfy king-size platform bed with storage. The second bedroom has 2 twin beds which can be pushed together to form a king, and the third bedroom has a double bed. There are two full bathrooms, one with a cute ‘hula skirt’ shower curtain! The kitchen is fully equipped with a gas stove, microwave, coffee maker, and everything else you might need. There’s a Weber kettle barbecue and even an outdoor shower!
Hang out on the 'surfboard' deck with a cocktail and watch the 'world' go by. You’ll meet lots of nice people. This is also the perfect place for a barbecue or your morning coffee. If you’re into a more indoor mood, hang out at the bar inside complemented with a hand-painted tropical mural. We have satellite TV and a VHF radio, but no phone. You can listen to the Cruiser’s Net each morning on channel 68 at 8:15. It’s a great way to hear about restaurant specials, weather, what’s happening in Abaco, and have a few laughs.
Great snorkeling is right down the palm lined path, so be sure to bring your gear. You'll be amazed at the colors of the fish and coral and how clear the water is! A rental boat is the perfect way to see Abaco and all the surrounding cays (pronounced keys) and we can help you arange that.
We’re confident that you’ll love our little piece of paradise as much as we do. We will do our best to accommodate your party and make sure you have the best vacation ever!
We live in Southern California and love it very much but we are definitely Abaco-holics at heart! Especially Great Guana Cay! Rick & Tina Ferguson
Tina Ferguson purchased this cottage in 2007
If you love crystal clear water and white sand beaches, Great Guana Cay is the BEST! We first visited in March 2006 and a year and a half later we had Beach Walk Cottage!
Nearby miles of uncrowded pristine beaches, turquoise gin clear water, great snorkeling on the 3rd largest barrier reef in the world, boating and island hopping, deep sea fishing, it just doesn't get any better than this!
So I have stayed here two times now and cant wait to book my third visit. Great location in the settlement, good floorplan and well priced. Tina and sally are always a pleasure to deal with. thanks again for the much needed vacation spot. - zach
We loved your home and could not have asked for a better location. After 8 years of coming to Guana Cay I can honestly say one of the best beds on the island. Tina & Sally were great to deal with & we can't wait for our next visit. Thank you!
Beachwalk Cottage is absolutely awesome. We recently stayed for a week in May and could not have be more pleased with our choice of rental homes. Colorful, bright and vibrant, Beachwalk Cottage has plenty of living space and the bedrooms are roomy. Although we only ate in a couple times, the kitchen had everything we needed to prepare our meals. The dining room table and the cool bar provided ample seating. Perfect location in the settlement near everything that is Guana. Nippers, Grabbers, Dive Guana, Grocery store, Kidds Cover, main dock etc. are all within a few steps of the cottage. And it sits directly on Chere B Lane which is only a few steps to one of the best beaches in the Abacos. World class snorkeling is right off the beach and the house even had some snorkeling gear to use until we got our rentals at Dive Guana! The screened front porch is perfect for morning coffee and watching the locals and other vacationers pass by on their merry way. The people and visitors of Guana Cay are some of the friendliest you will ever meet and the front porch is a good place to interact or just people watch. There are even a couple very nice local cats who stopped by everyday for a taste of tuna purchased from the little convenience store around the corner. The owners and caretakers are very nice and easy to deal with and are very responsive. Plenty of beach towels so don't load down your suitcases! Beachwalk Cottage is perfect for a family or group of friends looking to experience the best of Guana Cay.
Since we are budget conscious travelers it was great to find a place in the Abacos close to the beach that was affordable. This cottage is located just a few minutes to the Atlantic and a few steps to the Sea of Abaco. We shopped at Marsh Harbor on our arrival and took the ferry back once to replenish. Daily groceries we bought at the Guana store. It was easy to walk to all restaurants, the grocery, ferry dock and post office. Didn't need to rent a golf cart except for one day of exploring. Really enjoyed the first glimpse of the ocean's beautiful turquoise as we came over the path to the beach.
We spent hours walking the pristine sand beaches of the Atlantic from dawn to dusk. The sea was somewhat less accessible but very lovely.
The cottage had everything we needed for cooking and relaxing. We showed our videos and photos on the flat screen as evening entertainment. The month of Feb. turned out to be a bit cooler and windier than anticipated and Sally, the manager, brought us a heater which helped during the evenings. Tina, the owner, was very prompt answering email questions. Sally was also very quick to respond by coming to the cottage since we didn't have a phone.
One of the benefits of being close to everything was also one of the negatives. The traffic was pretty noisy, especially the trucks and unmuffled carts. Not sure if we'd want to be more secluded because of the easy access.
The cottage had a vintage charm with lots of art and fun colorful signs. The coolness and wind actually kept the bugs at bay, a good thing! If you go in Jan or Feb you may want to bring some warmer clothing just in case. Could seldom wear just a swimsuit and flip flops. A washer/dryer is provided and ample towels. Water is scarce so be prepared to conserve.
It's a pretty laid back place this time of year. Great for relaxing. Did not do much snorkeling because of the winds but the reef was close. Maybe next time.
Have great photos, shells, new friends and lots of good memories. Restaurant favorite was Grabbers for their excellent food and the best spot to watch the sunset while rays swam past the beach. Nippers is a bit more lively but not our style.
We loved the cottage and our visit to Great Guana Cay. Everyone to a person was friendly and greeted us with a hello, nod or wave. Loved it!
My fiancé, her parents, and myself took on the trek from Indianapolis to Guana last week. Upon arrival the housekeepers was there to pick us up and drive the LONG 2 minute drive from the ferry dock. You heard right, 2 minute drive, 4 minute walk. This cottage is in the PERFECT location. We had family staying in orchid bay, which is nice but not as great as the Beach Walk location. You'll find Milo's Produce stand about a stones throw away, a small little late night bar with room for only about 10! (So if you are on Guana with 25 family members and need a place to get away, that bar is the one!) I could rave about this cottage all day. In short, we had an excellent vacation and cant wait to go back!
Our family of four (two adults, two boys ages 15 and 12) stayed at Beach Walk Cottage for a week in November 2014 over Thanksgiving. It was perfect for us! We loved the convenient location - a short walk from just about everything including the fantastic, beautiful beach, the public boat dock, and restaurants (had a really delicious take-out Thanksgiving dinner from Island Flavors!). The cottage was well furnished, wonderfully decorated, and clean. The cottage is not luxurious, but it is cozy and comfortable. We really felt right at home. The wifi worked great and allowed us to stay in touch with life (emails and voice mails) back home in the USA. The screened in porch and deck were great for keeping our swim shoes, and wet snorkeling gear out of the way, yet handy for our next day at the beach. We would stay here again if we ever make a return visit Guana Cay!
