WOW, we just arrived back home from our vacation in Puerto Vallarta. The condo was exactly as described. It was just absolutely the best place to stay. We enjoy cooking our own breakfast and sometimes we ate our lunches in the condo. We did enjoy the Pancake House and Fredys Tucan on any meal that we were in town. Pipis was absolutely the best dinner we had. We loved eating pizza on the boardwalk just passed the bridge over the river. We mostly took the bus which stops/picks up right a the condo for 8 pesos a person. It wasn't bad at all. We went to Walmart twice for groceries for 15 pesos. You must connect to a blue bus that will say Walmart/Sams. We did not take the bus back with groceries, a taxi was much better and quicker with groceries for 140 pesos. We road the bus to Salyulita and spent the day surfing on the Pacific Ocean side. The bus ride was an hour and half from the el Centro area. We rented surf boards and spent the day at the beach.
We spent most everyday at the beach of the condo. I read three books and fell asleep most of the time. We took our time in the mornings to wake up late, eat a breakfast and do whatever we wanted in the condo until the sun reached the beach side of the condo by noon or after. Both of the bedrooms were well attended. Bath towels are endless. We did do laundry during the week. The owners had laundry soap and the dryer worked very good. All beach gear was used and readily available. The only issue we had was the condo closed the beach and pool area at 7:30 p.m. We really weren't ready to give the beach and pool that early. The only issue we had with the internet was it was very slow during the day. We found it worked much faster in the early morning. We will definitely return. It was very beautiful, quiet and peaceful. I loved the location, the beach, the pool, the balcony and the whole condo layout. Thank you for letting us stay. We will return~~~
What can be said that others haven't? We have traveled all over Mexico and Central America and stayed in hundreds of places. Our stay at Casa Del Rey is on a 'return to' list now. The condo is soooo quiet! The deck is better than going anywhere else while there. The pool and the people we met there was the place for us when we wanted somewhere else to sit and take in the serene place this is.
We did venture out to a couple of places south and a couple of times into the city. I would recommend for anyone wanting to do their own cooking as we like to do, to visit the old market about five blocks east of where the bus stops in town. Take a cab back, it's only a few bucks! The veggies and fruits are huge and so much better tasting than here in the US. Our favorite dinner was at the Restaurant Argentina...the steaks are better than anything in San Diego and we carried out leftovers that made two other meals for us! Also try Joe & Jacks Fish Shack for some great fish tacos or fish and chips...both better than my own and that is not heard much from my wife!
If you want to see what your (not) missing on the deck at Casa Del Rey, go ahead and ride the bus for 8 pesos to Boca or Mismaloya...then run home screaming! Bring a snorkel and mask you'll need them for the relaxing pool like water swim over the small reefs your looking at from the deck. Then walk a few hundred yards up the beach the other way and have some fish or shrimp with the locals at the awning and seating up by the black cliff point. But first of all...reserve this place now! We beat out getting it from some people we met around the pool and they had to settle for another condo in this building :)
Hey... "The competition is on!"
P.S. we reserved 10 months in advance!
Oh yea, and THANK YOU Arlene and Alan (owners)
Rick and Mary
Our stay at the condo was amazing. We were 2 couples sharing it for a week and it was very comfortable. The best thing is how close to the beach you are, great, great beach and very private. The grounds are also very well taken care, the pool was very nice and the building very secure. We were there during spring break and never saw anyone. The location is secluded, so be prepared to buy groceries for your stay. The condo is on the local bus route, and for 8 pesos you can get to old town or head to Mismaloya. We rode it everyday without any issues. The sunsets are gorgeous on the balcony, and we even saw dolphins!
I'd definitely recommend this condo to anyone looking for a true PV experience without the huge crowds of the mega resorts.
This was our 6th visit to PVR with my husband and we shared the condo with my sister and her partner! What you view in the pictures is exactly what you will find when you walk in the door. The condo was clean, nicely decorated, the bedrooms were big and each couple had their own bathroom and privacy. The patio was big and had the shade until the end of the day, We cooked breakfasts and some dinners. The condo has an electric George Foreman BBQ, which worked great. You can also rent the gas BBQ in the pool area for 5 pesos if you are cooking a large meal, which is set up for you by the staff of the condo. The beach is the best in the area and the pool is warm and cleaned every morning. We also had laundry facilities in the second bedroom if needed which was very handy. The bus stop is accross the road from the condo and it takes you into the romatic zone for shopping and fun. We shopped locally at the meat shops and Ley's grocery store, which was walkable then cab ride home 80 pesos. To ride the bus it was 8 pesos. This was a great stay which we will do again. Arlene and George were great hosts, they phoned after we checked in to make sure we were enjoying our stay and made sure we were happy. We felt very lucky to have found this condo! I promise aside from food it has everything you need. See you next year 2015!
A quiet, clean, spacious condo on a beautiful beach - an 8 peso bus ride into PV to experience the bustle of Old Town. Those are the two worlds you get when you stay at Punta Negra Condos. Arlene and Alan's unit comes fully equipped with everything you need to enjoy your stay. The BBQ on the terrace for when you want to cook in, the extra comfortable Tommy Bahama beach chairs for lazing on the gorgeous beach, the satellite TV (Canadian!) to stay in touch with what's going on in the world and at home, wifi that works in the unit, at the pool and (sometimes) even on the beach - these are just a few of the perks you will find at Casa Del Rey. Arlene and Alan are super hosts who go the extra mile to ensure their guests have everything they need. Due to the northwest exposure, the sun does not reach the beach until about 10 am and the pool a bit later but, each evening you have the magnificence of a sunset. What's not to love! This is a place to which we will return.
This was our 3rd stay in this building, but 1st in this unit. Everything is as described and better. We particularly enjoyed having a grill and English language TV, although we don't watch much especially here, it was nice to have access. Everything worked well and the building staff was pleasant & helpful as always. The only downside was it was only 2 weeks!
We visited some old favorite restaurants , and found some new ones as well, all other guests were quiet, considerate & fun to compare notes with.
Although we never met, Arlene was great in making the booking & giving us helpful information prior to our trip and called while we were there to make sure everything was up to our expectations.
We have stayed in other units in this building as well as in the area (Punta Negra & south beach) , this is our favorite overall over the last 8 or 9 trips.
