This beachfront unit is on the Gulf of Mexico with an awesome view of the beach and the Gulf. The condo is in great shape and includes everything your family might require for a comfortable stay. The Chateaux complex is well maintained and has a great courtyard and pool area. It also has direct access to the beach which you can walk on for several miles in each direction. You can also enjoy parasailing and waverunners right in front of the condo! The fact that Indian Rock beach is centered on Gulf boulevard between Clearwater beach and St. Pete's beach is a great benefit. You can head in either direction and enjoy many of the sights. Clearwater beach is only 10 minutes north of the condo with the beautiful Gulf, and tons of shopping and restaurants that you are sure to enjoy! John's Pass is a must see village just 10 minutes south of the condo, which also has all of the shopping and water activities for your enjoyment.
My Husband and I took a week here in Summer of 2008. Actually getting ready to book it for 2009 as I write this ! This corner unit condo has the best of many things...the best balcony, (Huge !) great table and chair set too . (I'm a sucker for details !) The view...breathtaking. Corner unit also. Unobstructed view up for miles up and down the beach ! Lest I forget to mention the beach is private...and the pool ! Not touristy at all...(go to Clearwater if you want crowds and overpriced everything !) Building has an elevator and a luggage trolly so you dont have to carry bags up and down stairs. 4 washers and 4 dryers are on the property also. The Kitchen was FULLY stocked. Just add food. Good sized TV...spent more time on the balcony sunsets though ! TV in bedroom too. Condo was very clean. Walk in closet with beach chairs, sand pails and assorted beach toys, umbrellas, etc. (Loved that !) Bathroom was well stocked with towels, had a blow dryer also. Very clean. Well appointed condo overall. Many great restaurants within 5 miles. 7-11 within walking distance. Grocery stores and shops are close-by. Never worried about our parking spot as they are assigned spaces. Overall, the best bang for your buck ! The view alone was worth the price ! By the way, just a short drive from the condo, up Gulf Blvd., is a great little place for seafood called "Crabby Bill's". I highly recommend it.
Condo is on 1st floor corner unit, very nice. Building right next door but blinds are closed so you get used to it. Power in adjacent bldg went out for an entire day and their generator exhaust is directly outside this condo's LR window, about 20 feet away. It made one full day unbearable..as loud as 5 garbage trucks revving their engines together. Rental company tossed me around but finally spoke to someone who suggested I go over and find out what was going on as they didn't know. He explained worse things have happened....
Met the owners, lovely couple...they came in a couple of times during our stay, as were redecorating and removing some furniture and replacing...very friendly and genteel people.
Kitchen pretty well equipped, had friends to dinner and managed a great meal, lots of serving things and plenty of plate. *note: why not supply cleaning stuff for renters? I resent having to buy dishwasher/dish detergent, garbage bags etc.. while on holiday (just a suggestion)
We were mostly two while there, and at 800+ sq ft, it is big...plenty of room. My favourite thing was the sound of the waves..left the sliding doors open in LR most of the time and could hear the crashing waves throughout the place...I miss the sound!
Swimming pool was very warm...wind was cold...not best weather but that's December...still went swimming.
Another suggestion? buy some nice BIG towels and nicer sheets....it would make it feel more luxurious (only thinking of what I would do) also put pillow protectors on the pillows, they smelled funky, like other people's heads ych!
Area is very very quiet also time of year was very quiet...great for beach walking, you NEED a car to get mostly anywhere..closest and cheapest groceries? Walmart Market on Walsingham .. left out the door then right at IR and about 1km up on left. Publix' everywher, but closest same directions and go another 2 km or so on left. 7-11 walk to ... Salt Rock Grill, very nice dining room, good meals. Generally groceries are very expensive, might be cheaper to eat dinners out and do breakfast and lunches in.
Smell of wet rot from bathroom got to me, but I just kept the door closed (remember smell from when we replace our bathrooms) but bathroom was clean as was whole apt (we're kind of clean nuts). Appreciated the cleanliness as didn't spend a whole day cleaning as usually happens in rentals in Maine.
Would recommend for quiet getaway, go to IR beach for more action at cocktail hour and restaurants!
The condo is just as it is pictured, but much larger than we expected! We are a family of 3 and slept very comfortably here. Great ocean view but the bedroom is in the back of the condo near the street. That is my only "complaint" - street noise, esp trucks in the morning. But it wasn't so bad that it distracted from anything. Condo was clean and well stocked with towels and bedding. Internet boxes can be rented from the leasing office for $30/week. Pool and beach access is easy from this unit. We loved the fact that the unit was on the opposite side of the building from the pool to cut down on the noise when enjoying the lanai. Lounge chairs on the lanai have been updated and we enjoyed sunsets out there every night! The beach is very lovely and not very crowded - just perfect. Condo is a quick drive to Clearwater beach and John's Pass. Across the street is an adventure golf that was very fun. All in all, a very pleasant stay and we would definitely reccommend to anyone!
My husband, children and I stayed for a week in June of 2010. We were very pleased to find the condo very clean and homey. Everything looked just like the pictures. We had a fantastic time on the uncrowded beaches. Very laid back. We actually had our wedding ceremony on the beach out in front the condo. Simply breath taking! Not much to do as far as night life in this area, but we enjoyed walking along the beach looking for crabs after sunset. And did I mention the sunsets!!! Words can't describe the sheer beauty. All in all the stay was wonderful. I would highly recommend this unit, and are in the process of planning our next trip!
Our first booking of this property in July 2008 was wonderful, and the 2nd time around in July 2009 was even better than the first ! The owner's have made some improvements to the condo, like a fresh coat of paint and beautiful, crisp white drapes on the main balcony. (There are actually two balconies; one in the bedroom and one in the living room) They add to the to the clean, airy beach feel along with the big white palm ceiling fan. I really felt at home as we entered and I immediately went to open the curtains and go out on the balcony, my favorite thing about this place ! I don't know if we just missed them last year, but we saw dolphins in the Gulf just about every morning ! Amazing ! The condo owners, Bruce and Chris have thought of everything one might need for a vacation stay. The walk-in closet, (with plenty of room for a lot of clothes) is also packed with beach gear from chairs to toys for kids. The kitchen is well stocked and ready for a home cooked family dinner, or you can get in the far left kitchen drawer to find a stack of take-out and delivery menus of local eateries. If you want to go out, head down Gulf Blvd. for a bite, from casual to upscale, you'll find it here. Walk across the street to play adventure golf or to go to the local surf shop that I understand has been there for around 35 years. If you fly in you can take the trolley all the way to St. Pete to get to where you want to go. It runs up and down Gulf (where the property is) all the time. You can also go a few miles up the road to Pier 60 in Clearwater for the Sunset party, a great time for the whole family ! The sunsets are really spectacular, as a lot of folks gather on the beach around 8 to watch it. Last year we encountered a lot of friendly people on the beach, and this year was no exception. Everyone offers to take your picture, as we do in return. There is no shortage of hospitality in Indian Shores, and the owners of the condo are just as cordial as this as our 2nd time dealing with them. They even remembered us from the year past ! I have recommended this property to many people simply because the value is outstanding and their listing is always accurate and honest. We brought our daughters with us and we feel so at home here that my Husband and I are planning to go back in a few weeks for some couple time. Yes, it is that affordable that we can do a family vacay AND a romantic getaway on our own. Go see for yourself and enjoy !!
