About The Owner

This is our only home in the Smoky Mountains. We love it, but live in the burbs of Orlando, Florida, so can't get there as often as we would like. Kathleen has put a lot of herself into our beautiful home and most renters comment on how beautifully furnished and decorated it is. It is the last home on the street, so it is private and peaceful with no other nearby homes to obstruct the mountain view from the deck.

The Owner purchased this house in 2006

Why The Owner chose Maggie Valley

We visited Maggie Valley for the first time in 2006 and bought our home a few months later. We love the unpretentiousness of Maggie and find it a place we can truly relax. The location is central to many activities.

What makes this house unique

We like hiking the mountain lanes around our home. Just a short hike down the mountain leads to a small waterfall. The gurgling sound can be heard from porches.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We had a great time staying in your cabin. It is so beautiful and i n one of the prettiest spots we saw up there. Watching the full moon rise while sitting in the hot tub was like heaven. We all agreed we would definitely go there again.

Wonderful New Year's Trip with the Kids

  • 4 of 5

Our family had a lovely week in Maggie Valley. It was unseasonably warm, so even though we couldn't ski, we had some amazing sunny hikes and some lovely moments out on the huge deck and roasting marshmallows over the fire pit. The kids 14,12 loved the laid back lifestyle. We played a lot of Yahtzee, so thank you for having board games available. My husband and I loved the stunning views from the wall of windows, especially when fog would roll in. I took so many beautiful pictures that I can't wait to get framed. Kathleen was very friendly and attentive. The only reason this cabin doesn't get a 5 from me is how steep the ride up the mountain is, especially at the very top, turning to come down a steep slope to the driveway. We came in on a dark, rainy night, and it was pretty harrowing. I can't imagine if it was iced over.

Absolutely Perfect!

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed at many cabins and The Ultimate Treehouse is our favorite by far! We are very picky about the cabins we stay at - we want privacy, mountain views, sunrise or sunset view, easy road access, non smoking, etc. This cabin met all of our wants and then some! The owners are very quick to respond to any questions we had and very friendly. The cabin has a nightlight in the bathroom and the lamp in master bedroom has 2 bears roasting marshmallows on a glowing fire ...just enough light so you arent completely in the dark. The owners have stocked the kitchen with anything you coukd possibly need and also have an array of board games for a family. The mountain views were long range and just beautiful! We ate our breakfast on the deck each morning, watched the sunrise and listened to the song birds at the bird feeder. We saw dark eyed juncos, black capped chickadees, towhees, cardinals and more. We shopped for groceries at Bi-Lo and Ingles in Waynesville - just a few miles down the road. I cooked us breakfast each morning and we packed a picnic lunch for our day trips. We used the crock pot to cook dinner on days we knew we would be getting back late. We hiked a few small hikes , Soco Falls off of US 19 and Waterrock Knob and Devils Courthouse off of the Blue Ridge Parkway towards Ashville. Waterrock Knob was on BRP about 10 miles and Devils Courthouse was about 35 miles on BRP. We went to the Oconaluftee Visitor center and saw an elk herd of 22 standing in the Oconaluftee for about 30 minutes before going back to the woods. We drove up to Newfound Gap in the Smoky Mountain Park and got to play in snow. I even made 3 little snowmen. Being from Florida, we don't see snow too often. I can not say enough about The Ultimate Treehouse, it's close to the BRP, Waynesville, and Cherokee and about an hour drive to Newfound Gap or Cling man's Dome. My husband and I thought this might be too big of a cabin for just the two of us, but it was absolutely perfect. We bought some 3 hour pine mountain fire logs from Ingles for around 6 bucks (green package) and had a fire each night after our soak in the hot tub while we watched TV and unwound from our day. We would love to come back with our kids and grandsons. This cabin has it all and is perfect for a couple or a family-- look no furthur! You will not be disappointed! We LOVED this place!!

Nice, comfortable, fully equipped and cozy stay in the mountains

  • 5 of 5

Great space, comfortable, central and well equipped. My two boys and I had everything we needed. The hot tub was enjoyed at the end of long days. Beds were comfortable, bathrooms clean roomy and bright. Kitchen was spacious and fully stocked with all we needed.

Go by the cabin before you buy soap and tp. Many people leave leftovers and we had plenty and didn't need to open what we brought.

Great Value!

  • 4 of 5

Centrally located to GA, TN, and SC the Treehouse offers a cozy place to come home to after sight seeing and outdoor activities. FYI: Road to treehouse has very steep inclines and sharp angels that this flat Floridian would not have felt comfortable driving had it been snowy or icey. No garbage service which requires a penalty fee or disposal at a given location. Considerable amount of ants in the kitchen.

Owner's Response: We are sorry the ants decided to move in for the weekend along with our guests. The house was treated upon check-out and we have been assured the ants are no longer with us.

Best Vacation in 32 Years!

  • 5 of 5

This little cabin is the best kept secret in Maggie Valley! The owners have put so much thought into every little detail and made every effort to make your vacation feel like a home away from home. Whether you are like us and are seeking solitude, rest and relaxation or you want a landing place at the end of a fun filled day, the ultimate treehouse is the place!! Some of our favorite spots were the Looking Glass Waterfall, the Rock slide, and Mast General store in Waynesville and we didn't even get to Asheville! If you are looking for great restaurants locally, Sagebush Steakhouse, Blossoms on Main and Haywood Smokehouse are just a few of our favorites. Second, of course, to steak on the grill in our own sunny little kitchen tucked in the mountains of NC.

Perfect Weekend Away!

  • 5 of 5

This is the perfect home for a couple's weekend away in the mountains! It is very comfortable and the views are spectacular! We cooked every meal and the kitchen had everything we needed. The hot tub was the perfect way to end each day. The owner even checked in with us when the weather forecast was looking bad on our day of departure to see if we needed any additional accommodations. We look forward to visiting again!
