About Kathleen McCorvie

This is our only home in the Smoky Mountains. We love it, but live in the burbs of Orlando, Florida, so can't get there as often as we would like. Kathleen has put a lot of herself into our beautiful home and most renters comment on how beautifully furnished and decorated it is. It is the last home on the mountain lane, so it is private and peaceful with no other nearby homes to obstruct the mountain view from the deck.

Kathleen McCorvie purchased this house in 2006

Why Kathleen McCorvie chose Maggie Valley

We visited Maggie Valley for the first time in 2006 and bought our home a few months later. We love the unpretentiousness of Maggie and find it a place we can truly relax. The location is central to many activities.

What makes this house unique

We like hiking the mountain lanes around our home. Just a short hike down the mountain leads to a small waterfall. The gurgling sound can be heard from porches.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We had a great time staying in your cabin. It is so beautiful and i n one of the prettiest spots we saw up there. Watching the full moon rise while sitting in the hot tub was like heaven. We all agreed we would definitely go there again.

Fantastic vacation home for our family of four

  • 5 of 5

This house was perfect for our family. The master bedroom is great. Upstairs had a bedroom with a queen bed for one of my kids, and the loft had a sofa bed for my other kid. All of the beds including the sofa bed were comfortable. We enjoyed the hot tub and the grill. We had great spring weather, so we enjoyed meals on the deck which has a spectacular view of the area. Thank you for a great home to enjoy our time in the Great Smoky Mountains!

Great Place!

  • 5 of 5

Everything was very clean and functional, but the house has a great cabin-in-the-mountains feel to it. Kitchen had everything we needed to cook and grill 3 meals a day. I knew this place was near some good fishing spots, but was very happy to also find that it's located by a great grocery store. Terrible weekend for fishing (weather's fault, not the house) was made better by evenings sitting around a fire or in the hot tub.

As others have noted, the roads to the house are extremely steep and hug some serious drop-offs, just like most roads in the area. Typically shouldn't be a problem (even for my small car), but it snowed several inches during our stay. They salted some of the roads but not all of them. Had it not been for some lucky subsequent warm weather and sunshine, we would have been stuck at the house until the snow was completely melted from the roadways; I suspect that even a 4x4 wouldn't be able to make it out. That said, we grabbed some extra food and wine, and decided that it would be a wonderful place to spend a few quite snow days!

Very relaxing, very comfortable, will definitely return

  • 5 of 5

Everything you need is there, beautiful view. The only problem we had was the neighbor to the left of you is nosey and rude, tried to walk to the near by waterfall and was told to get off her driveway( which is a road). Other than that very great place and will definitely return to stay again.

Wonderful location

  • 4 of 5

My family had the pleasure of staying at the home the last days of the year. My young daughters enjoyed exploring around the home and visiting Cherokee, Soco Falls and the Great Smoky Mountains. The views from the home are beautiful and the house is well-maintained and comfortable. It was a nice treat to end the day at the home enjoying s'mores and a warm fire just steps from the home. The home has a large deck with ample furniture that should be a great spot in warmer weather. Like others, we recommend arriving the first day before nightfall. Road to home is steep but drivable. We would consider the home again for future trips to the Smokies and recommend it to others without hesitation.

Fantastic mountain getaway!

  • 5 of 5

Best vacation we've had in a while. Perfect location! The house and its amenities were perfect for what we needed and the views can't be beat. It's centrally located for activities and day trips to surrounding areas, and is a perfect venue for a couple or a family getaway 365 days a year.

I wish we could've stayed longer!
