About Kathleen McCorvie

This is our only home in the Smoky Mountains. We love it, but live in the burbs of Orlando, Florida, so can't get there as often as we would like. Kathleen has put a lot of herself into our beautiful home and most renters comment on how beautifully furnished and decorated it is. It is the last home on the mountain lane, so it is private and peaceful with no other nearby homes to obstruct the mountain view from the deck.

Kathleen McCorvie purchased this house in 2006

Why Kathleen McCorvie chose Maggie Valley

We visited Maggie Valley for the first time in 2006 and bought our home a few months later. We love the unpretentiousness of Maggie and find it a place we can truly relax. The location is central to many activities.

What makes this house unique

We like hiking the mountain lanes around our home. Just a short hike down the mountain leads to a small waterfall. The gurgling sound can be heard from porches.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We had a great time staying in your cabin. It is so beautiful and i n one of the prettiest spots we saw up there. Watching the full moon rise while sitting in the hot tub was like heaven. We all agreed we would definitely go there again.

Great House

  • 5 of 5

This is a great place in the mountains. The place feels really private. There is so much to do in the area, or just sit on the deck and relax. We did a little of both and loved it. The view is Great and the cabin was really clean when we arrived. We will stay here again.

  • 5 of 5

Our family had an amazing stay at the Ultimate Treehouse! The house is decorated with a very homey feel. It was clean, comfy and cozy! The view was breathtaking and the hot tub on the deck was a great way to end the day. Our girls had a blast looking for animal tracks and sleeping in the loft. Can't wait to return to the Ultimate Treehouse.

Thank you!!!!!!

Summer Vacation

  • 5 of 5

We absolutely loved our stay at the Ultimate Treehouse. It was more beautiful in person than in the pictures. The cabin is very comfortable and cozy. It had every thing we needed for our vacation week. The kitchen had everything we needed and more. The cabin was very clean upon arrival. The hot tub was a great ending to the day after all the hiking and trail walking we had done. The porch is a great place to have your morning coffee and watch all the activity! Many beautiful birds came to the bird feeder and some really cute chipmunks were playing all over the yard. The view is amazing!!! The road to the cabin is VERY steep! After the first day it wasn't so bad, you get used to it. Beautiful cabin, amazing view and great location. We had a wonderful stay. Thank you very much!

Wonderful vacation

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I wanted to get away for a few days and go to the mountains. While searching on the internet for a cabin to rent, I ran across The Ultimate Treehouse in Maggie Valley, NC. The pictures looked nice so we rented it for 4 nights. This cabin was everything they said it would be. Beautiful wooden cabin, spotlessly clean, decorated perfectly, the mattress was so very comfortable and the hot tub was awesome. The view from this cabin is spectacular! The weather was perfect and we enjoyed the hot tub, the fire pit and the evening was cool enough to start a fire inside. If you are looking for a really nice private place to stay with a view, this is definitely the place to go. We will definitely rent this again. The owners are great to deal with and our deposit was credited the day after our return.

My only complaint was that contractors put in a culvert across from the cabin and we were unable to meet our friends until that evening as we could not get out on Friday. We were pretty hungry by 5:00 as we had not planned on cooking. Also they hooked up to the outside faucet and used water from the cabin. I surely hope they had permission as it ran your water bill up pretty high I imagine.

Thank you, Gina Haught

Wonderful New Year's Trip with the Kids

  • 4 of 5

Our family had a lovely week in Maggie Valley. It was unseasonably warm, so even though we couldn't ski, we had some amazing sunny hikes and some lovely moments out on the huge deck and roasting marshmallows over the fire pit. The kids 14,12 loved the laid back lifestyle. We played a lot of Yahtzee, so thank you for having board games available. My husband and I loved the stunning views from the wall of windows, especially when fog would roll in. I took so many beautiful pictures that I can't wait to get framed. Kathleen was very friendly and attentive. The only reason this cabin doesn't get a 5 from me is how steep the ride up the mountain is, especially at the very top, turning to come down a steep slope to the driveway. We came in on a dark, rainy night, and it was pretty harrowing. I can't imagine if it was iced over.

Absolutely Perfect!

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed at many cabins and The Ultimate Treehouse is our favorite by far! We are very picky about the cabins we stay at - we want privacy, mountain views, sunrise or sunset view, easy road access, non smoking, etc. This cabin met all of our wants and then some! The owners are very quick to respond to any questions we had and very friendly. The cabin has a nightlight in the bathroom and the lamp in master bedroom has 2 bears roasting marshmallows on a glowing fire ...just enough light so you arent completely in the dark. The owners have stocked the kitchen with anything you coukd possibly need and also have an array of board games for a family. The mountain views were long range and just beautiful! We ate our breakfast on the deck each morning, watched the sunrise and listened to the song birds at the bird feeder. We saw dark eyed juncos, black capped chickadees, towhees, cardinals and more. We shopped for groceries at Bi-Lo and Ingles in Waynesville - just a few miles down the road. I cooked us breakfast each morning and we packed a picnic lunch for our day trips. We used the crock pot to cook dinner on days we knew we would be getting back late. We hiked a few small hikes , Soco Falls off of US 19 and Waterrock Knob and Devils Courthouse off of the Blue Ridge Parkway towards Ashville. Waterrock Knob was on BRP about 10 miles and Devils Courthouse was about 35 miles on BRP. We went to the Oconaluftee Visitor center and saw an elk herd of 22 standing in the Oconaluftee for about 30 minutes before going back to the woods. We drove up to Newfound Gap in the Smoky Mountain Park and got to play in snow. I even made 3 little snowmen. Being from Florida, we don't see snow too often. I can not say enough about The Ultimate Treehouse, it's close to the BRP, Waynesville, and Cherokee and about an hour drive to Newfound Gap or Cling man's Dome. My husband and I thought this might be too big of a cabin for just the two of us, but it was absolutely perfect. We bought some 3 hour pine mountain fire logs from Ingles for around 6 bucks (green package) and had a fire each night after our soak in the hot tub while we watched TV and unwound from our day. We would love to come back with our kids and grandsons. This cabin has it all and is perfect for a couple or a family-- look no furthur! You will not be disappointed! We LOVED this place!!
