This outstanding property is just outside the very small village of Wardsboro... you are able to see the church steeple in the view at the bottom of the valley. Very quiet except for an occasional echo of a dog barking in the valley and the river rushing by.

The location is very convenient between to major ski resorts Mount Snow, and Stratton as well as two lakes, parks and recreation areas. Townshend Lake and recreation area, Jamaica State Park and Grout Pond and of course the entire Green Mountain National Forest.

Hiking trails on the property as well as directly connected to the extensive VAST trail system. Enjoy a private trail to the summit of Stacey Mountain with views of Stratton Mountain.

Wonderful Stay

  • 5 of 5

This is our second stay here. The first was during foliage season and this time for skiing. The house is lovely. Clean, tidy and very well appointed. The kids love the pool table and the hot tub is wonderful after a -20 day on the slopes! Thank you and we will definitely stay again!

Great time!

  • 5 of 5

The house was in great shape, and any questions we had were quickly answered. The hot tub was the highlight- very clean!! The beds were comfortable, the living room was very comfortable. Everyone was happy! Convenient location. Thank you, Ken! Only recommendation would be that there are printed instructions for the house. Otherwise no issues at all!

Fantastic, comfortable house!

  • 5 of 5

My family really enjoyed our stay here. The common areas are extremely comfortable, and the open floor plan makes for a very social environment. The entryway had plenty of room for all of our skis, snowboards, boots, jackets, hats, gloves, etc, so it was easy to grab everything on the way out, and not to track snow in - a problem we've found with some other rentals we've stayed at.

The hot water replenished pretty quickly, which is great when you have 6+ people in one house. Ken was great, too, very quick to respond to any inquiries before, during, and after our stay.

Two things we wish we'd realized (not negatives on the property, just wish I'd read more reviews to pick up some tips): first, you MUST have 4WD/AWD to get up the driveway in the snow. Of course, that's true of most places in this area, but it gets us every time, because our truck isn't big enough for us +our dogs, so my husband and I usually travel in the sedan. We made it halfway up, then my brother and my dad came down in trucks to help us unload/load other car upon arrival and departure. Second thing is that we assumed we'd be able to watch football on the "mid-grade TV package", as we were up there during playoffs, but the TV is streaming services (Netflix, etc) - no football. Again, not the end of the world because we don't go on vacation to watch TV, but good to know (our previous ski trip was during the Superbowl, and that would have been very upsetting to miss!).

All in all, we'd love to stay at this house again (I just need to remind my husband we can't take the Honda to VT, because we always have issues!)

Great location between Stratton and Mt Snow.

  • 4 of 5

My family had a wonderful weekend here with plenty of room and comfort for all. Driveway was plowed and sanded for us after an overnight snow which made getting to the slopes a breeze. Hot tub was nice after skiing. TV was limited to internet only but we were able to watch DVD , Netflix and other internet programs. Thank you for a nice place to stay and a great weekend of skiing

Disappointed

  • 2 of 5

The first thing I did when I saw this property was contact the owner to be sure there was reliable WiFi access. The group going on the trip to VT is a bunch of workaholic New Yorkers with whose careers require us to stay connected. The owner Ken was prompt in his reply that the internet was solid.

Unfortunately, when we arrived, there was no connection. We called the provider ourselves, but none of the easy fixes worked. We got in touch with Ken the next day, and he too just suggested the easy fixes we had tried. We called the provider again and when we finally got to someone to look deeper into the issue, we were told that they couldn't help because the house used a "third party modem". Ken seemingly did not take any time of his own to investigate or try to assist - perhaps because it was holiday.

But the biggest insult is that he did not refund us any money for the inconvenience of lacking a very important amenity and it is for that reason that I do not recommend this house.

In general, the house was nice (smaller than it appears in pictures), is well-stocked, and has a terrific Jacuzzi. It should be mentioned that the "room" with the twin beds doesn't have a door, but is an alcove open to the downstairs pool room/living room. If you're traveling with kids, this can be an issue as the Jacuzzi is off this room and it can be tough to optimize that space while children are sleeping down there.

And, of course, if you need internet access, this does not seem to be a reliable spot.
