Beautiful cottage a short distance from the beach.
Erik was always quick to respond. The house was not beach front, but it was only two short blocks to the beach. We enjoyed a relaxing week and the house had just about everything one could want.
We (three friends) really enjoyed our stay at this charming cottage. It was a bit chilly for the pool, but we loved relaxing on the patio and rooftop deck. We used the beach chairs one day when we went to the beach - it was nice that they were available. We also enjoyed sitting on the front porch in the mornings and evenings. We would definitely come back again!
I can't say enough about this home away from home. The house was comfortable, interesting and immaculate. Plenty of fresh beach towels, nice quality beach chairs, umbrellas and really nice bikes were just the beginning. The kitchen had everything one could ever need, including condiments, paper products, and soap. The back sitting area was the perfect place to gather, relax and enjoy happy hour. The swimming pool was a delight. We were a group of five sisters, and the accommodations met all of our needs. Erik has thought of everything to make this a wonderful vacation home. I wouldn't want to stay anywhere else on the island.
Erik thinks of everything!! Beautiful accommodations & location!
The house was clean, comfortable, in a great location, and we just loved it!
The house perfectly fit 8 people with room to spare. The outdoor shower and pool were a huge hit with the kids. The house had everything we needed and we already want to come back!
Couldn't ask for a better place to experience Tybee Island
Erik's house is great. The pictures don't do it justice. It has all the look of a classic mid century cottage with all the updates you would want in a vacation home. Check-in instructions and check-out instructions are very clear available both online, and in a printed copy inside the house for quick reference. Communication was quick (usually within the hour). We couldn't have asked for an easier reservation, payment, check-in, or check-out.
The kitchen is the most well stocked kitchen I have ever experienced. My wife and I travel a lot, and if you would use it for cooking at home, Erik probably has it in his cottage. There was plenty of space for the 6 of us to prepare our meals, and enjoy them either inside the cottage, on the screened front porch, or on the pool deck.
The two upstairs bedrooms are great for a family with kids. The queen bedroom is right across the small hallway from the twin bedroom, and they do share a great bathroom. The second queen bedroom is accessed from the pool deck, and the shutters give plenty of privacy day or night.
The cottage is located on the bike path for easy movement around the island. The bikes Erik keeps in his shed are in perfect working order, and even come with a lock you can use if you venture out around town. His shed is stocked with an array of beach chairs, body boards, a cooler, and even a wagon to pull to the beach if you desire. We had our own, but if we did not, we would have been well provisioned. The beach itself is pretty crowded on the weekends. Nothing you wouldn't expect to see on any other beach in the summer, but the proximity to Savannah does lend itself to more day trippers than some beaches we have visited. But with wide sand and plenty of spots to set up, it wasn't a problem at all.
It's about a 7 minute walk to the beach, and about the same distance to many of the shops and restaurants Butler Ave. has to offer. Seaweeds ice cream is just around the corner, so we made sure to hit that a couple times during our stay. The Tybee Island Lighthouse and Museum is about a 10 minute bike ride away. Its a very scenic ride, and if you get there early, the climb isn't too hot.
I could probably write another 1000 words about Erik's place. We didn't have a single disappointment or a single problem the whole time we were there. It was perfect for our trip, and I suspect it would be for yours as well.
Tybee is one of Georgia's true small towns, it makes for a great family get away. Historic Savannah is only a few miles away if would like to make the trip in town for fine dining, antique shopping, or to visit historic sites. Kayak rental and boat tours are available on the island along with many eating establishments. Please note that is a no pet property. Tybee Island does not allow dogs or pets on the beach.
