Our family so enjoyed the beautiful home and property- it was truly a home away from home and provided us with everything we needed for a relaxing and fun vacation.
We found this house during an internet search for a nice place to stay for our ski trip. Upon arriving, we could see it was a beautiful farm house with a gorgeous view of the mountainside. Inside was warm and cozy; the kitchen was very nice and well stocked with cooking utensils. The living room was a perfect place for our group to gather and hang out next to the fire while watching the Patriots-Bronco's game amongst other things. The house was in the perfect location for traveling to the Middlebury snow bowl and Killington ski slopes. Another plus side to the house was the big hill out back which we enjoyed sledding and snow tubing down for hours. We immediately looked up this house when we began to plan for next years ski trip, and we will be spending our second winter trip in this same house.
This is the second time our family of 5 has spent New Year's Eve in this lovely house. The listing can not possibly describe the breath-taking scenery that surrounds it... it is absolutely pristine and spectacular. The backyard is the Green Mountain National Forest and outdoor opportunities are out your backdoor. Most of our days were spent skiing (cross country at Blueberry Hill or downhill at Middlebury Snow Bowl). We relaxed in the evenings in the cozy living room with a fire and family games. We are smitten with the area and the location / setting of this special house, and we love the fact that it has not been over-improved with trendy things. The authenticity is charming, and given that we were on vacation, none of us minded washing dishes! Not even my 14 year old! Brandon is a very quaint Vermont town with everything you need. We certainly look forward to returning.
no satellite photo can truly tell you what a sweeping look you have uphill to the east. if you walk
up that hill you have an unspoiled look back at 4 rolling peaks. the roomy kitchen opens to the comfy
screened in porch which has a stone-tiled floor making a nice transition to the outside. the layout
of the house gives each bedroom its own unique corner. a very settled soulful house. the location is also
super if you are interested in trails and swimming spots. you can get around fine without dipping
into the valley.
This home served our needs in the small town of Goshen Vermont. My husband and I were in the area for a wedding with two small children and my mother. We needed enough bedrooms and a kitchen, which the local bed and breakfasts could not provide. By the end of the weekend we could smile at our rental but when we first arrived we were not very impressed. An instruction packet that was sent to us after we signed the contract and just a couple of weeks before our arrival details the many quirks this house as including pests and a foul sewage smell that emanates in the living room at all times. Had we read this prior to signing the contract we may not have elected to stay there. We did see mice in the kitchen, and we were unable to sit in the living room or watch tv due to the musty smell and the smell of what I think was the septic system. There is no cell service or Internet but there is a convenient house phone. The property was beautiful, the home has great potential but needs some TLC form the owners
It has low water pressure, temperamental toilets, loose faucets, musty upholstery and bedspreads, push button electrical switches so probably very old wiring. The house is quite remote on a dirt road, if you're just looking for a place to sleep and enjoy the quiet and scenery - then it's good, but if cleanliness and creature comforts are important to you, this might not be the place for you. Approximately 10 minutes from Brandon VT
