We arrived late and had no trouble finding the cottage with the excellent directions. The cottage was neat and clean and nestled in the trees along Elk Creek. It was quiet and cozy and a great place to relax far from the big city. Thanks for sharing your place with us!
Thank you Steven we appreciate your very gracious review of the College and you folks did a wonderful job taking care of "her" while you were there. It is so nice to hear that you relaxed and enjoying your stay and we hope you will return. Linda
Restful and Relaxing
Our Elk Creek Cottage experience was wonderful. We knew just what we were looking for and though it took some time sorting through all of the offerings out there it was worth it. The cottage was just as advertised and even though I didn't believe the part about fishing from the back porch I should have because the first thing I did was unpack my fishing tackle and the second was to go fishing!
Our first two days it rained almost constantly and we enjoyed every single drop we heard fall on the roof and could even watch the creek rise and flow more swiftly as a result of it. We enjoyed each other's company, reading and doing jigsaw puzzles and when the weather became clear exploring the area by car and learning about the history of the county. We heartily recommend staying here at any time of the year.

Peaceful and quiet place. Everything you need is in this cabin. Love the porch area which my son usually did his fishing. Great cabin!

Quiet rustic getaway
We bought worms at the general store, fished from the deck, and caught a nice trout. We enjoyed listening to the falls as we ate our meals on the deck. The bed was comfortable., the kitchen had everything we needed, Loved it!
Susan so glad you enjoyed your stay and love the fact that you fished from the deck and caught a nice trout. Rainbow Falls State Park is just a couple of miles down the road from the Cottage on the Chehalis River and has great spots for swimming and also large areas with a baseball diamond and other activities. He also has an "old growth forest" area of the park with trails which are fun to hike through and we do have a "rails to trails" system right we you turn off Hwy 6 into Doty that you can hike from Chehalis all the way to the Pacific Ocean on. Along Byway # 6 you can visit the Chehalis-Centralia Railroad's steam train for a nostalgic ride along the Chehalis River. Of course the favorite thing for our guests to do is exactly what you guys did and just sit on the deck and soak in the beauty of the creek and relax. Hope you will return you were great guests. Linda
Great place to decompress and disconnect.
Everything went really smoothly from contacting the owner to getting in and leaving. No hitches at all.
Paulette thank you for the great review and you were the perfect guests.
We loved your log book entry..."It is so beautiful here! We loved listening to the falls, imagining we saw huge trout below and see the beauties of nature all around us. Thank you for sharing your little pierce of heaven with us - it was a beautiful break from our hot Colorado summer. "
We have had so many guests describe Elk Creek Falls Cottage as: This little cottage is a quiet and humble place. It was a nice surprise. Quite interesting and unique; Great little cabin in a quiet, remote area; Very nice cabin overlooking a babbling river; Cute cabin, right over the river; Beautiful settling, cozy and very clean cabin in the woods; We loved it, the deck hangs virtually 20 feel over Elk Creek and they have fishing gear in the closet if you don't have your own...great place to unplug and unwind; What a wonderful little cabin for relaxation and for being a home base throughout a sightseeing vacation! Peaceful back deck to enjoy morning coffee on!! We enjoyed our stay and had a nice restful weekend...we were pleasantly surprised that it was decorated for Christmas. Very Cozy; Clean and well equipped with all we needed...guest guide was very informative about the property as well as the surrounding areas...we enjoyed reading the memories in the guest book and glad we could add ours to it...thanks for sharing your special place with us.
Thanks to all the wonderful guests. Linda and Rick owners
Very modest lodging in a quiet neighborhood
This is definitely not a cabin in the woods. Neighboring houses are visible across the street (which is about 20 feet outside the front door) and across the creek. The street is a dead end, so there's not much traffic, but we were disappointed to find it a residential neighborhood. For the price, though, it was okay. The creek behind the house was very pretty. We spent most of the stay sitting out on the back deck. The reason I won't return is that the beds were astonishingly old, saggy, and uncomfortable. The master bed was so bad that we spent the second night in the foldout couch, which was awful but slightly better. I wouldn't have stayed a third night.
Bottom line: if this is the cabin you can afford, go for it, no shame. If you can find anything else in your price range, choose it instead.
