Our spacious well-appointed 2700 sq. ft. 4 bedroom home will make your vacation dreams come true. It is located on 1.5 acres in a private community at the top of the hills west of Sonoma, and sits 1300 feet above the valley floor. It is surrounded by mature Oak and Bay trees giving you beautiful wooded views from every window. There are sweeping views of the hills and the south end of the Sonoma valley, the Carneros wine region and the north end of the San Francisco bay waters. Our hills are bustling with deer, wild turkeys, squirrels and many, many species of birds. Our guests say that our house feels like a '5 star' hotel: that’s exactly what we’d hoped. As you enter the front doors you are greeted with the warmth and welcoming feel of this home. There are neighbors but with the beautiful mature vegetation you can’t see other houses. You will feel like you’re in a world of your own. We are 5 miles from Sonoma’s central square where there are world class restaurants & shops.
More About Us: Our kitchen has always been a favorite gathering spot. Lots of counter space, a great expanse of windows, a fireplace and our “pub” table all provide the perfect atmosphere. Our spacious dining room lends itself to romantic dinners or upbeat gatherings.
The living room and sunroom overlook our large deck and the expansive views of the valley and distant mountain ranges. The morning sunrise is spectacular. If you prefer to sleep late, just grab a robe and enjoy the valley views with your first cup of coffee.
The Sonoma valley is known as the Valley of the Moon. There is nothing more breathtaking than the big orange moon rising over the hills in the evening and flooding our deck with its glow. You’ll have a bird’s eye view.
Our Bedrooms are Inviting: Each bedroom has a personality of it’s own. Every bed has a down feather comforter to give you warmth without the weight and down feather pillows that will perfectly adjust to your preferences. All bedrooms have additional seating that will give you comfortable places to get-away from the group if you need a quiet time to talk or read.
The wine country is a destination in itself: add to that this really terrific house and you have the perfect combination.
My husband's family has owned this house for over 20 years, but I now manage it as our vacation rental. His family still lives throughout northern California, but we now live in Boulder, Colorado with our two young daughters. Although I grew up in New Hampshire and spent many years in the Adirondacks of New York, I lived in California for several years before moving in Colorado in 2005. I taught environmental education in amazing outdoor places such as Yosemite National Park, and then worked to conserve land in Colorado after our move to Boulder in 2005. I also fill my time by volunteering at my kids' school and with local non-profits that gets kids outdoors and into nature. My family and I travel back to California often, and still visit Pepperwood Place where we have created many fond memories over the years.
My mother-in-law lived in this wonderful home for over 20 years and everyday felt like a vacation. When she moved to Pacific Grove in 2006 she decided to turn her Sonoma home into a vacation rental. You will see from the reviews written by our guests that this is a special place.
The house is nestled among beautiful old oak trees. The views are wonderful. The wildlife is ever present. You can't help but relax when you're here.
I absolutely agree with everyone elses comments, right down to the deer in the yard. Our group of 5 women who have been BFF's for the past 20+ years stayed here the first week in November. It was perfect! So much nicer than staying in a hotel or B&B! The bedrooms are very nice and the beds were so comfortable. Each of us had our own comfy robe hanging in the closets. That was very nice since several of us flew into the Bay Area, saving room in our suitcases for our purchases made while shopping at the square. We enjoyed our morning coffee on the deck with views of the valley at sunrise all the way to the San Francisco Bay. The kitchen is spacious enough that we could all fit comfortably around the "pub" table and enjoy our "happy hours." The living room is appointed with beautiful, comfy furniture where we could all sit and talk, talk, talk by the warm fire. We were able to enjoy background music because the owner took the time to create very clear and helpful operating instructions for those of us who are a little challenged in operating stereo equipment. In other words, every detail was carefully considered. The property is a great retreat, and very secure with automated gates at the driveway. Although we were there only two nights, it's so spacious, it would be perfect for extended stays.
Melissa's home in Sonoma is lovely. All the things you need for a stay were there and then some. Melissa was top notch with communication prior to our arrival and very thorough with instructions on how to access the home, where various things were located within the home, etc. The home is in a lovely setting overlooking the valley. Unfortunately, rain, rain, rain for our three night stay so we only got glimpses of the valley itself, but when it revealed itself it was beautiful. On better days, enjoying the large, outside deck surrounding the house would be terrific. If you want to visit the wine country, you could not pick a better home that has it all: space, comfort, location and all the necessities!
Immaculate, comfortable home. Well equipped and well stocked kitchen.
Nicely decorated. Great deck. Beds very comfortable.
There were 6 of us (parents, kids and spouses) for a long weekend of wine tasting. The home had everything-- spacious kitchen ( with tons of spices, utensils, cookware, dishes), roomy bedrooms (loved the walk in/ down shower in master), patios with ample seating for sharing coffee or wine as we enjoyed the gorgeous views. Deer playing on the property, a large hot tub, game closet, huge tv for football watching, and notebooks with every available brochure and available amenity! I can't rave enough and highly recommend!!
I came with a group of six and we had a great stay for five nights. The house has a superb deck for afternoon and evening relaxation. Surrounded by huge oak trees, we ate dinner most nights at the house, grilling on the large outdoor grill. The house is a few minutes to good wine tasting rooms and to Sonoma Square. The house is very much as pictured and described. The property is well taken care of and was very clean and totally ready for us when we arrived. A great location for a family stay or for a group of friends, as we were. Highly recommended!
This home nestled in the hills above Sonoma has privacy and awesome views. One day we watched deer waking around just feet away from us through the windows looking toward the hot tub. The home itself is spectacular, the photos do not do it justice. We were in Sonoma for our daughter's wedding and we were so glad we found this home for our stay. We will be back in the future and recommend this property to anyone looking to stay in the Sonoma area. Thank you Melissa!
Our family planned a long weekend in wine country to celebrate lots of life accomplishments. This was the perfect place for 4 couples providing private sleeping rooms, large dining and living areas and gorgeous views. The sunrises were spectacular. The house is secluded which we loved and it was well equipped with all we needed. Melissa was great in making sure our stay was enjoyable. We are ready to go back.
