About The Owner

I am Brent Kerger from Tallahassee, Florida. I am a research scientist for my regular job, but my wife and I invested in rental properties in Florida plus this one in the mountains of South Carolina. We manage and maintain all of our properties personally, and have been doing this successfully for about 15 years in total.

The Owner purchased this house in 2006

Why The Owner chose Table Rock

We bought a lot and built this rental property at The Rock at Jocassee because we fell in love with the beautiful area and the fantastic access to waterfalls, lakes, state parks, mountain vistas and wildlife that our family has enjoyed every year. Scenic Highway 11 has more than a dozen state parks including Table Rock State Park which is just a few miles east of our property. Great sites to visit in South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia and Tennessee are within an hour's drive. This is really a great location for natural family fun at a very low cost.

What makes this house unique

We built 'Waterfall Dreams' with families in mind. The upstairs has the master bedroom and bath, plus a kitchen, great room and sun room with treetop views in back and foothill/mountain vistas off the front covered porch. There is lots of seating upstairs for feeding a large group and just relaxing in the peaceful mountain environment. The downstairs has three more bedrooms and a game room for the kids, plus a nice deck and BBQ grill out the back door. This is one of only two homes that were built so far in a quiet subdivision off the golf course development. The clubhouse is a mile away and has golf pro shop, restaurant/bar, swimming pool, tennis, and other amenities.

Centrally located, great place to stay

  • 5 of 5

My husband, dog and I loved staying here. The house is centrally located to lots of things as our main purpose was to go hiking. We visited two waterfalls within the resort (one our dog found on a trail very close to the house) and many others that were within an hour drive. When I saw how big the place was I couldn't believe it was only 1900 sq ft - the main floor that you enter from the front door was perfect for us. We only used the 'main floor' and did not need the extra bedrooms downstairs but the price was great and it's perfect for a large group of people if you have them! Not much tv, but we didn't care. Everything we needed was at the house - they even had a crock pot. The master bedroom bed is very comfortable and the overall home was nicely laid out. I'd love to come back and spend time - perhaps bringing some friends along next time!

Family Reunion Venue

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I, along with our grown children, spouses, and grandchildren enjoyed a very pleasant few days in this cabin. When we first pulled up, it looked kind of small. But looks were deceiving, for there was plenty of room for everyone in the 4 bedrooms and 3 baths as well as the common areas. The spotless house was well stocked with the essentials like bedding, towels, and toilet paper. We enjoyed sightseeing and exploring in between the trips to town for a graduation and shopping. Don't expect to find much to watch on the tv. But that was actually a plus, since we could enjoy being together instead.

Great place to stay

  • 5 of 5

Our family of nine enjoyed staying in this comfortable, roomy, well-appointed house. The scenery was spectacular. We were in SC for a granddaughter's wedding at Table Rock S.P.

Stayed an extra day after the wedding to give time to visit waterfalls and for younger family members to climb Table Rock. Thankfully, although it was January, the weather was mild. We'd love to come back.

An Absolutely Wonderful Place to Stay.

  • 5 of 5

Our family had a wonderful time staying at this house. It was in the perfect location for our needs. Our family (7 of us staying for 5 days) and friends had plenty of room. Our son and Daughter in-law came up from Charleston to attend Clemson's graduation and stayed one night. Clemson is only a 40-45 minute drive away. Our daughter and her boyfriend came up for dinner and to hang out. So in all we had 13 people in the house and never felt crowded. We also had some heated foosball competitions downstairs!!

We were able to see some wonderful waterfalls in both North and South Carolina. We drove to Brevard, NC (maybe an hour) to go to Sliding Rock and Looking Glass Falls! What a blast. We also went to other falls in the area during our stay. There are guide books in the house (we made some notations to assist others) Also, the Kergers have put together a couple of three ring binders with useful information.

On our first night in the house my son and I were outside just enjoying the quite, and noticed what sounded like a waterfall. Just follow the sound across the street and there is a nice secluded "private" waterfall.

The house is well equipped, but I do recommend bringing some of your own pots and pans. Don't forget your own spices, we did and had to run to the store to buy them. Ingles is only 15 minutes away and BiLo about 20-25. There were plenty of sheets and towels for every bed/person. The house is located on a dead-end road and we only saw two vehicles the entire week.

There are board games in the house, but I recommend bringing some of your own. Also, bring CD's or your own Blue Tooth speaker system. The house has wifi that works, but I have unlimited data and the cell signal was good. The TV works, but the antenna.... not so much. I don't think we turned the TV on but a couple of times all week!!

There is a "Sliding Rock" in the resort area behind the condo's. Not so much fun. Again the drive to Brevard is nice and we had a great time. Next time we stay we will bring our clubs to play a round of golf. Course looked good and the rates were reasonable.

Everything is clean and the property manager Brenda Jones (Great last name!) made sure we had everything we needed. The entire process from booking to arrival to check out was hassle free. We are already planning our next trip to the area for later this summer and we will be staying here again!

Thank you for reading this lengthy review. The Jonesgang.

Loved it!!

  • 5 of 5

I can't say enough about this property. My stepdaughter was getting married at the Lodge in Table Rock and it was a five minute drive away. Totally beautiful surroundings; peaceful and bucolic. There is so much to see, we were there for far too short a time. Great house for entertaining and having separate space for adults to be upstairs and younger kids to be downstairs. I will be going back!!

Perfect basecamp for hiking adventures

  • 5 of 5

My wife, our small dog, and myself stayed here prior to hiking up Table Rock Mountain and it was perfect. The home is isolated enough for privacy without being in the middle of nowhere. In fact it's only a 6-minute drive from Table Rock State Park! If you have kids you may want to bring something for them to do as the TV gets few stations but does include a DVD player.

Personally, in such a beautiful location, I didn't watch TV at all - outside was ten times prettier. We visited in July expecting swarms of insects but were very pleasantly surprised to find next to none, save for bees and wasps who only bother adventurers foolish enough to disturb their nests.

Though I didn't have a chance to check it out during our brief stay, there is a golf course at the entrance to the neighborhood, and we regularly saw other visitors doing for walks around it. The whole area is beautiful and serene.

Overall, this rental is great for fellow hikers like my wife and I, but might be a little too woodsy for people accustomed to city-life.
