We love to watch the sunset just sitting in the sand, its what we do in the Keys after a great fishing day... or not.
David purchased this house in 2002
There is nothing like the Florida Keys. Great fishing and coral reefs very close and easy to access. We enjoy the quick ocean access and ability to just hop on your boat for a fantastic sunset cruise in a matter of minutes.
Private dock behind the house. Great fishing days and peaceful nights. Great location and the best restaurants in the Keys.
Capricorn Cove was a great fit for our active family affording us quick access to the open ocean and close to the sand bar and reefs for snorkeling or fishing. The use of the kayaks, boat dock, and fish cleaning station make ocean outings so convenient. The grill and patio furniture make the back patio inviting for family gatherings, morning coffee or sunset meals. The wide open dining/kitchen/living room worked well for our group providing plenty of room to prepare meals and enjoy each other without being on top of each other. Clearly, David was intentional about making our stay comfortable and convenient. He was never more than a phone call away for any questions or suggestions and he was always attentive. We had everything we needed and more. He's not kidding when he says, "Just bring your clothes!" cause that's all you need for a great time!
We come to the keys to vacation with another family yearly. We were 4 adults 2 teens. The house suited us perfect. It was roomy, updated, & well maintained. Everyone had their own room. The patio was a great place for dinner, games, fishing on the dock. David the owner is so accommodating, he has the unit so well stocked just bring your clothes! Over the past 4 years of renting in the keys, David and his home has been the best.
We were seven friends looking to take a break from the Minnesota winter while avoid the crowds of some parts of Florida. The house itself was set up perfectly for us with the four bedrooms, and the bathrooms were in really nice condition. The kitchen/dining/living area was good for late night cards, finishing a little work that we procrastinated on, and cooking/making sangria for everyone. The location was ideal, too. It's about a mile from a free beach that was quiet when we went during the week, and a short drive from a larger beach area. There is also a Winn Dixie only a few minutes away for when you forget to buy pizza sauce to make dinner.
The highlight of the house was definitely the back patio! There was ample room to lounge about and enjoy the outdoors! While some of my friends preferred to sleep in until 11 am, one of my favorite moments was putting the kayak in the water and paddling out to watch the sunrise from the ocean.
Altogether, I would highly recommend staying at this house. David is very nice, the property is beautiful, and the location is fantastic. If we can find a time next year that we all are free, we will try to go here first!
We came down from the bitter cold of Wisconsin to get away for the week down in the Keys. Capricorn Cove was beyond perfect. There was plenty of room for 7 adults and we all had beds to sleep in. The outdoor sitting area right on the canal was beautiful. The water was great and super refreshing. Just keep an eye on the tide cuz at low tide the ladder doesn't go all the way into the water and makes it difficult to get out. That didn't really stop us though, we still jumped right in. When we got there David was actually there tiding up from the previous renters which was great. He gave us A LOT of great information on what to do and where to go. He gave us some great snorkeling places to check out since we were renting a boat. Sadly the water was a tad to choppy to make it to the reefs and see anything but the information David provided was excellent. He was very accessible while down there too, just had to call if needed to. I can go on and on about how great this place was for us but I will run out of room. Plain and simple if you are looking for a nice, quiet, and affordable place to stay then STAY HERE! If we ever venture down to the Keys again out first place to look to stay will be Capricorn Cove. We didn't want to leave!!
I rented Capricorn Cove for a group get-away in August, 2014 and could not have chosen a better place. There were 8 adults and this house had the perfect layout for us – inside and out! Comfortable beds, convenient and well-stocked kitchen and plenty of space. The outside patio was huge – ½ covered by an awning. Although we never saw rain, it provided great shade. The canal was perfect for swimming and had easy access to the ocean. We used the bikes and kayak that came with the house. Paddle the Keys delivered 8 other kayaks and paddleboards that we kept tied out at the dock the entire time – reasonable daily rates with delivery and pick up right at the house. Grocery stores, drug stores and plenty of restaurants were located just a short drive away. David, the homeowner was extremely accommodating and never more than a phone call/text away. I highly recommend this property and look forward to staying here again in the future.
Our days started with coffee and breakfast on the covered patio overlooking a beautiful canal; and ended with cocktails and barbequing while watching the sky turn multicolors as the sun set. In between we took our small boat out to the sandbar every day to swim/float in the swimming pool clear water; we fished 5 miles offshore on a day when the seas were calmer than our local lake; and we took day trips to Key West and Coconut Grove/Miami South Beach. Ultimately, Capricorn Cove called us back to bask in the warm sun and the peacefulness of the setting as the tarpon rolled in the canal; the Manatee came by to say hello; and incredibly comfortable beds prepared us for the next day of adventure…or simply reading a book on the patio.
As for the home itself, everything we needed was provided, and worked wonderfully, including the air conditioning (yes, we are southern folks that are spoiled). We cooked lots of meals in the well equipped kitchen and the large living area provided ample space for our family to hang out, socialize, or just nap.
Our family of 6 (Mom & Dad; 16 year old girl; 19 year old boy; 24 year old boy and girl) had an incredible week that ended yesterday, June 7th 2014. We truly hated to leave, but since we have jobs in Atlanta, and the Owner mentioned that another family was coming in for the next week, we reluctantly departed to return to reality. Capricorn Cove is beautiful, and the Owner's hospitality in welcoming us upon our arrival, helping us put our boat in the water, and giving us tips about the area, was a wonderful way to begin the experience. He is highly accessible to answer questions, and a true gentleman. Capricorn Cove was perfect for us.
Ocean side of Overseas Highway, no bridge or tide restrictions. Quick ocean access.
