Festivals and Seasonal Events in Tuscany:
There are many events all year round throughout Tuscany, but many are concentrated during the summer.
Many 'sagre', or festivals dedicated around a particular local product, start in early summer and continue on through the autumn when local specialties (truffles, wine, olive oil, marroni chestnuts) come into season.
In Versilia you will find a lot of sagre organised by the various 'contrade' which give life to the Palio dei Micci (1st Sunday of May). They offer typical dishes (tordelli and panzanelle) in the evenings of July, August and mid September.
If you are coming to Tuscany during other periods of the year, don't worry as there is always something to see or do (or eat!) then as well.
For specific events, it is best to contact the local tourism office.
Please, contact the owners for furhter details:.They will be glad to answer to all your questions.

About Gemma Ida Benedetti
Gemma, a teacher, and Andrea, an antiquarian, will welcome you! They are always happy to offer guidance to plan your visits, to let you have fantastic memories of your holiday in Versilia.
Gemma Ida Benedetti purchased this Chateau / Country House in 1973
Why Gemma Ida Benedetti chose Ripa- Pozzi-Ponterosso
The house was bought in 1973 by Gemma's parents: At that time they lived in Rome and wanted to have their own house in Versilia for their holidays. Back to Tuscany, her parents settled in Forte dei Marmi and Antico Borgo became Gemma and Andrea's house after their marriage. They decided to rent their house to share this pleasant place with people who love travelling and discovering new traditions and habits. According to the owners' experience, spending a holiday in a flat means to 'feel themselves at home', even if far from home!
What makes this Chateau / Country House unique
The main characteristic of this farmhouse is lying very close to everything, but being secluded and sorrounded by huge olive-groves at 360°, with a stunning view of the Apuan Alps!

Great Italian hospitality
The house is clean and the personal touch of the owners in the decoration makes it a very nice place to be. The location is quiet but within minutes your at the beach.
Railwayconnections to Firenze and Pisa nearby as well as motorway exit.
Very friendly owners who really understand hospitality. It is a house you really feel at home.
Dearest Rens, Helga and Koen, thank you hugely for your review, we just loved having you stay with us, and can't thank you enough for being such perfect tenants - you were all so charming to us!
We are delighted that you had a wonderful time, and very that the house lived up to your expectations. We're so pleased you had a good holiday at us: so lovely to see people enjoying the garden and have a talk with us! Antico Borgo is in a beautiful, peaceful place and it does seem to relax people and give them a good time. Please come again (as we loved having you here) and see more of the joys of Versilia! We will be very glad to welcome you back again some time.
Love from the 3 of us …to the 3 of you
Great Place for a relaxing vacation
This farmhouse is a wonderful place to stay in Tuscany. The apartment is beautifully decorated and very clean. The outside space is very nice too. The owners are extremely friendly and helpful. The location is wonderful within easy reach of the beach, mountains, restaurants, and attractions such as Lucca, Pisa, and Cinque Terre. We had a great vacation here in July and would return if given the opportunity.
Thank you very much for your kind words! A great pleasure to have you at us!! We are very pleased to know that our house was cozy and comfortable.
And we are more than glad, thinking you have had the chance to meet your Italian relatives from Lucca!
It was a great pleasure to meet you all and share some evenings together, chatting, laughing and eating tordelli and homemade cakes!!:-).
You will always be very welcomed, if given the opportunity!!
Love from the 3 of us!
The perfect place!!!
We have been travelling to Italy for some time now and this is by far the best place we ever stayed, everything was perfect!
The ancient house has charm, but also all modern facilities. It was very clean, tastefully decorated and Gemma and Andrea were the perfect hosts! All from waiting for us, even though we were very late to inviting us for a homemade cake or some bruschetta with their own olive oil and...even more! They are so nice and did everything possible to make us feel welcomed and "at home" in every way, but never being intrusive.
The house is set in a beautiful and quite surrounding, with a huge garden and olivegrove all around, but everyhing is a few minutes walk.
You have spectacular views from the windows and the garden of the Apuan Alps at short distance, just like the sea, with its fantastic sandy beaches.
There is also a lot to do nearby if you want to: some of Europe's biggest caves, pictoresque villages, lively towns as Pietrasanta and beautiful art cities as Lucca, Pisa, Siena and San Gimignano. The 5 Terre a must!
We would highly recomend this farmhouse for anyone looking for a peacefull place to enjoy his holiday at full. Thank you again Gemma and Andrea! All the best, hoping to see you again, maybe next year! S.
A perfect place
We stayed at Antiche Travi for one week. It was our first time in this beautifull place but won't be the last. The house and their owners (Gemma and Andrea) are just perfect. They made us feel very welcome from start on. The appartment is beautiful, very clean and everything you need is in it and more. Gemma and Andrea are very helpfull in giving you tips about the surroundings. Lots of nice places to visit very nearby, the beach is only a 5 minute drive away from the house and also very clean and comfortable. We wil defenatly go back when visiting Italy and Toscany.
Mirjam, Hans & Angelique
Dear Mirjam, Hans and Angelique,
Thanks a lot for your 5 Stars review and for taking the time to post your review - it always helps to get feedback.
We are so pleased that you enjoyed your stay with us at Antico Borgo and you are considering a return visit to us from Holland. You were such wonderful guests, always smiling and friendly! It has been a pleasure to spend some time with you... chatting together!.
Yes, our place is short distance from the beach and the Apuan Alps and we are glad if you have had pleasure in discovering some of the several things to do nearby!
We look forward to meeting you all again next year. Our very best wishes, Andrea and Gemma
Delightful house filled with brocante.
The owner Gemma is a lover of antiques and brocante, speaks good English and is very hospitable. This place is an excellent base for visits to Lucca, Pistoia, but.. please.. do not forget Pietrasanta... especially! As far as we are concerned, we had a lot more fun there.. than in the "over-the-top" Forte Dei Marmi.
Thank you very much for your feedback! As you can see, we have translated you nice review in order to let everybody understand it!
You are right..
We are really fond of antiques and all the objects belonging to the past: they can give a special atmosphere to your house..so cosy!
We love England and English as well..
But we particularly like welcoming people at us! A great opportunity to share nice moments with guests coming form all over the world!
Yes, Antico Borgo and the surrounding area is central for a lot of activities.. for visiting art cities and towns, but... also our sandy beaches and Apuan Alps can offer stunning views and relax.. according to our guests' taste.
Thanks for having come! Our best wishes! Andrea and Gemma
Lovely house in a beautiful garden
We (a couple from Germany) stayed in the little house Tra Gli Olivi. This house is located in the middle of a beautiful garden. It is fully equipped (we did not miss a single thing) and really lovely decorated. We immediately felt comfortable there. Furniture and equipment are in good shape and everything is very clean. We did appreciate that very much.
There is a little terrace at the front of the house where you can have all your meals while enjoying the surroundings.
The big neat garden accommodates a large number of old olive trees which give it a very special touch. Numerous chairs invite you to relax. In addition, you have the possibility to do some sports in the garden. There is a basketball ground, table tennis, table soccer and much more.
The property is located in a quiet part of the village. There is some shopping in walking distance (a good bakery, pharmacy, etc.). Bigger supermarkets are only a couple of minutes away by car. Thus, getting your supplies for the holiday is easy.
The location of the property gives you easy access to both, the beach and the mountains. The beach as well as the mountains are in short driving distance. We did several tours into the mountains where all kinds of hikes led us through beautiful scenery with sometimes stunning views.
Saving the best for the end of this review: our hosts. Gemma and Andrea are very friendly and helpful landlords. They offered good advice for some trips into the mountains as well as for visits to the villages around. We did enjoy our chats with them at different occasions very much. They really want you to enjoy your holiday at their property.
Dear J. and J.,
Thank your very much for your outstanding and comprehensive review of our farmhouse and local area. Thanks for taking the time to do it! It is very rewarding to receive comments like yours and to see all the effort we put in to making the place well cared...to ensure an enjoyable holiday....really pays off!
We were delighted to have you to stay at our home ( you were such wonderful guests!! ) and that you found it comfortable and a good base to explore the local area.
Perhaps we shall have the pleasure of your company another time.
We look forward to welcoming you back. Take care!! Andrea and Gemma
