A feast for the senses. This beautiful old villa was originally an olive oil mill dating back to 1718. The rambling stone house sits amongst acres of lavender and is surrounded by vineyards producing some of the regions best wines. The olive oil from the village is amongst the best in France and consistently wins the Paris Medaille d'Or. When the villa was reonovated in 2005 the owners were careful to keep the original character of the house but have tastefully decorated the interior making a really comfortable and stylish home.
There are a lot of places to sit and sip a glass of wine or or soak up the sun. Dine in rustic simplicity or wistful elegance with the help of a local chef we'd be pleased to recommend. The villa is spacious with large, cool rooms where the whole of the group can enjoy time together. We've had big parties and small weddings here and a whole lot of fun. There are also plenty of peaceful corners for quiet reflection or holiday reading. In the winter, open fires in the sitting and dining rooms make the Moulin a special place in which to celebrate the holiday season.
All the rooms have been carefully and tastefully decorated: (n.b some of the decor/furniture may differ to those in the photos)

The Moulin was built as an olive oil mill for this region of Provence in the early 18th century. It still maintains 12 acres of land which, through the ages, have transferred productivity from olives to vines and now, organic lavender. There is plenty of room to kick a ball, run and explore. The land adjoining is naturally wild common land which is protected from any construction or habitation and ensures the privacy of the house. The land opposite and next to the Moulin is given to wine production. Around the house there is a garden, a small olive grove, a wooded area with pine trees and lots of wild land; plenty of space for exploration and outdoor activities.
I rented the moulin with family and friends for a week to celebrate my 50th birthday and it did not disappoint! We were 10 adults and 5 children who range in age from 10-52 and my primary concern for planning the trip had been to find accommodations that could provide both privacy and comfortable togetherness. This place did that wonderfully. The kids were never under foot, but always busy exploring the grounds, swimming in the pool, etc...and the adults (4 married couples and 2 singles traveling together) especially enjoyed cooking and gathering in the kitchen and sitting in the outdoor dining and pool areas to share our stories of the day, listen to music and drink the fabulous and very affordable local wines. All of the beds were very comfortable and the people we met, from Houria who cares for the house to the vendors at the Sunday market in Pélisanne, were warm and welcoming. There were a couple of items that needed maintenance, a burner on the stove, a missing clothes dryer, but none of us felt that even these things diminished our enjoyment of this beautiful and tranquil place. I would love the opportunity to go back in the future!
We were a group of 13 folks renting this place ranging in age from seven weeks to seventy. We had a great stay. The villa is really lovely and private. It sits in a very beautiful location. The inside is just perfect in every way, but we spent most of our time outside, either at the pool or the lovely table under the lights at night.
We enjoyed the big, well outfitted kitchen which we cooked in almost every night. Great stove and just about everything you could ask for. The property has two big fridges - perfect for a lot of beer and wine storage!
The price of the rental includes a housekeeper for two hours a day. She was lovely and really did a great job in the kitchen and common areas.
Great food shopping at the local markets and the local Le Clerc, up the road.
We would definitely stay here again!
Beautiful villa! Seven of us spent a glorious week in this truly remarkable villa. The grounds are amazing with a beautiful pool, outdoor seating (where we spent our evenings eating and drinking French wine!) and lavender fields. Step inside and you’re transcended to a perfect balance of an authentic French villa tastefully updated to provide modern day comforts (top notch appliances and plumbing). The villa is incredibly spacious with a large, well-equipped, modern kitchen and seating area, a beautiful winding stone stairway, spacious bedrooms, a cozy sitting area and large, beautiful windows that provide wonderful light and great views of the property. The pictures truly don’t do this villa justice and it exceeded all of our expectations. Houria, the housekeeper, was gracious and hospitable and stopped by everyday to do light cleaning.
We used this location as our base and traveled to many towns, all within an 1-1.5 hour drive, including St. Remy, Cassis, Avignon, Aix, Bonnieux, LaCoste, Pont du Gard and Lourmarin. Pelissanne is a short 10 minute drive with a grocery and local restaurants.
The owner was very responsive and provided a very helpful package of information about the surrounding areas, including local markets and restaurants. This villa will not disappoint and all of us highly recommend a stay.
We were twelve people-- all one family. We had six children from six years old to 16 and six adults-- the oldest was me at eighty. We give the Olive Mill the highest recommendation. It is truly a remarkable facility with specious rooms, a fabulous kitchen an inside dinning room which seats at least 12. A beautiful tiled table for dinning outside which seats at least 12. It has the largest swimming pool I have seen in a private home with beautiful grounds. All was very clean with a very pleasant and competent maid who came every day. The location is fabulous with a very large store for food, wine, cheese and other items only twenty minutes away. We traveled all over Provence and came back every evening to swim and have great meals. The kids were delighted: We were enchanted. The mill also provides great privacy. You cannot see another building from the site. It also has a wonderful lavender field. It is even more magnificent than the photos. The owner was very helpful and responsive. Our only regret was that we had to leave after a week because of schedules.
We were concerned that the villa might be lacking before we arrived. We had planned this vacation with nine friends to celebrate our 60th birthday. We worried needlessly because the villa exceeded our expectations. The kitchen and dining area fit us all very comfortably and the bedrooms were so spacious and comfortable. We especially loved the patio with the large seating area and had our cocktail hours there every night. The weather was very agreeable and the housekeeper, Horia, was the best. The owners made it very easy to do business with them. The villa is beautifully decorated and even includes good books and games. The information basket was very helpful with ideas for day trips which we took advantage of....especially the wonderful Provence markets in Aix, Isle-Sur-la-Sorge and St. Remy. The huge grocery store in Salon de Provence was an easy 10 minute ride. We had a delightful dinner in the local village of Pelissanne at La Bastide de Moulin des Pouvris, which was recommended. We also did day trips to the Cote du Rhone region, Vauvenargue and Rians, Pont du Gard and Avignon. It was a glorious experience and the villa was just outstanding. It felt like home at the end of the day. Hopefully, we will be able to return someday.
Just come back from a wonderful week in the Moulin. Beautiful rambling old building wonderfully converted to retain lots of charm but provide high quality accommodation. We were a big group of 13 ranging from 1yr old to grandparents and all loved the house and the area. Really great accommodation. Lots of spaces so able to escape for some privacy when needed but plenty of room for socialising together even with such a large group. The cleaner comes in each morning to give a little tidy up and was a great source of information at the same time as providing a very welcome service - 13 people make a mess even when doing best not to. Plenty to do in the area and all well documented in a very comprehensive file that was sent to us once we had booked. Pool a great size for a change. Also went canoeing, visited markets, towns, lakes, caves and wineries when we could tear ourselves away from the house. Highly recommend a visit!
