Porto Fino is a new luxurious condominium complex that is walking distance to Marina Vallarta and all the shops and restaurants of the Marina. The golf pro-shop is 50 steps from the entrance of Porto Fino. The Marina golf course is 18 holes of championship golf with holes overlooking the Pacific Ocean. The Porto Fino pool is beautiful and has a convenience bar for drinks and food poolside.
Porto Fino is in a quiet neighborhood that is steps away from the 50 plus shops and restaurants of the Marina and a simple $3-$5.00 taxi ride to the action of Malacon of downtown Peurto Vallarta. Puerto Vallarta has so many fun adventures to experience. From pirate dinner cruises to zip lining over the jungle PV has it all.
The condo is well appointed and conveniently located within a short walking distance to shops, restaurants and the Marina. The condo was unexpectedly large for being a one bedroom. My wife, my two kids and myself fit there nicely and didn't feel crowded. The terrace was spacious. Loved to have my meals there. There was a grill there that we wanted to use but it had no gas although we were told that it had. Internet was spotty and was barely good enough for smart phones but not the laptop, images wouldn't download and lagged considerably. There were two TVs, there is a satellite box which we thought it worked but, after looking at closely, it was not connected. The TVs were smart TVs so if you have a NETFLIX account you could watch some movies there. I don't believe it had cable although my 10 year old boy was able to watch some Nickelodeon shows but in Spanish if it did, I couldn't find CNN. Getting hot water was tricking on the first day, ended up taking a cold shower, it wasn't until later that I was able to figure out that you must let the water run for awhile for the water to come hot but, once it did, it came scalding hot so be careful. There are some pots and pans but they had no lids and plenty of kitchen utensils. The only bedroom had plenty of closet space, shelves and a dresser with another TV on top. The king sized bed was a tad bit too hard for my taste but bearable. There is a washer and a dryer which was a hit to have available and worked perfectly make sure that you get your own laundry detergent, the same for dish washing liquid or dishwasher detergent if you plan to use the dish washing machine. There were plenty of towels and beach towels which we used although we also brought our own. I was not able to get the ceiling fan in the bedroom to work for me. Ditto on Deb's review regarding the grounds but the pool was murky and needed better filtering. Overall, it was a good experience with minor annoyances like poor internet access, the non working fan in the bedroom (or me now knowing hot to turn it on), no lids for the pots and pans, and not being able to figure out whether it had cable TV or not. However, the pluses outweighed the negatives. I will rent again if it was available next December but it is not.
We had the pleasure of spending a month at the Porto Fino condo. I have a long list of positives for the unit.
Convenient, Quiet (no activities like you find at resorts), Balcony is private, Pool is heated (only about 4' deep maximum), Grounds are well kept, Lots of seating around pool, Restaurant on premise is excellent, Bus stops right outside the condo for those excursions into Puerto Vallarta, Drinking water will be delivered to condo for a small fee, Security gate (although we feel very safe no matter where we are in PV), Walking distance to Marina where you will find many good restaurants. There is a grocery store if you want to walk a little further, Cable TV with ample American channels (flat panel TV in living room and TV in bedroom), BBQ grill on balcony (was somewhat corroded but still worked), WIFI (I had a hard time staying connected with laptop but my Kindle Fire worked fine), Comfortable patio set on balcony (cushions have some stains), Patio door opens wide for that nice breeze, Shades on sliding door and in the bedroom were very nice, there was also a room darkening shade in the bedroom, Property managers were very prompt and helpful (had to have a couple light bulbs replaced), Unit has pots, pans, dishes, silverware, utensils, toaster, blender (did not use it), coffee maker, iron & ironing board (did not use). Appliances include refrigerator, gas stove (didn't use the oven), microwave, washer, dryer (all were in working order of what we used) There is also a small wine refrigerator that we didn't use. Also did not use the dishwasher. There was ample bedding, extra pillows and the bed was ok. The only cons I have is that the living room furniture isn't the most comfortable but we have been to Puerto Vallarta many times and have yet to find comfy furniture in a rental unit. The cushions show a little wear and tear. The view from the balcony is blocked by palm trees. Because you are only on the third floor you don't have a view of the bay because of the layout of the buildings. There aren't any screens on the windows (patio door or bedroom) so was a little concerned about bugs but didn't have a problem. Overall, the Porto Fino is a great condo complex for your home away from home. It did seem like a retirement community at times (but that fits our age group) so if you are looking for a party place this is not for you. We loved it and would stay again at the Porto Fino.
My wife and I truly enjoyed our PV vacation. The Porto Fino Condo we rented was all that we thought it would be and then some. I Think it would be difficult to get a more ideal location, to say the least it fit our needs perfectly. We will definitely be staying there again, we just need to work out the dates before booking our next stay.
Portofino Resort is minutes from the Airport and a short 3 minute walk to the Marina where you have shops and restaurants and nightlife. We are located next door to the Marriot Hotel and a 1 minute walk to the Pro Shop for 18 holes of ocean front golf. You are also a short cab ride to the Malecon in downtown Peurto Vallarta.
