The incredible views from this lovely custom built, waterfront home will take your breath away. The house offers a secluded setting with a green belt on one side and a house set back from view on the other. No need for window coverings to block the view--it is totally private. If you prefer a dark room in which to sleep bring your sleep eye covers. We enjoy being awakened by a gorgeous sunrise. Sit in the solarium and watch the eagles fly right overhead or fish in the water below you.

Enjoy unobstructed views of Puget Sound, the Cascade mountains and Mt. Baker from virtually every room in the house. Watch the ever changing activity of cruise ships, sailboats, tankers or a nuclear submarine, from the large deck or our cozy solarium. The professionally landscaped yard is designed for privacy and easy maintenance and features a tranquil pond and natural woodland setting. Watch the deer and raccoons drink from the pond and wander through the yard any given day.

The fully equipped kitchen has a 5 burner Decor gas cooktop, double ovens and Subzero refrigerator, beautiful granite slab countertops, and a view that makes cooking a real pleasure. Or you can pull up a bar stool to the eating counter and grab a quick snack. Fine dining is minutes away if you aren't in the mood for cooking.

The living room has a stone wall with a gas fireplace. Snuggle up on the comfy sofas (one converts to queen size bed) in front of the fireplace and enjoy great conversation, a good book or a glass of wine. Or, simply admire the beauty of the view.

The master bedroom has a large walk-in closet, a king sized bed and 12' sliding glass doors that open to the deck. Lie in bed and enjoy the fireplace in the evening and see the cruise ships heading back to port and watch the sun rise over the Cascade Mts. Master bath has double sink with granite slab vanity, large spa like shower with double shower heads, and like almost everywhere in this home, incredible water and mt. view!

Bedroom 2 has queen sized bed and a garden view.

Bedroom 3 is very large with queen bed (and available, space for our queen, double high air bed available for those groups looking for a couple more sleeping spots). Glass doors open to the deck. Relax with a cup of coffee at the bistro table with four chairs and view the marvelous water and mountain views or enjoy the fireplace for added .enjoyment .

Bedroom 4 is in our loft bonus room along with our office. It has a queen bed as well as an oversize twin convertible sofa bed. Spectacular views from the office.

The house is beautifully furnished and tastefully decorated to make your stay feel extra special and comfortable.

The soft breezes from the water below make grilling and dining, on the table for six comfortable, even on a hot day, a real treat.

Two fold-up lounging deck chairs are also provided. Try to spot the seals on the rocks below with the telescopes and binoculars provided or just marvel at the incredible view. There is a small patio with two lounge chairs at the south end of the yard.

From Port Ludlow you can hop a ferry to Seattle and tour the waterfront and famous Pike Place Market or drive about an hour to Port Angeles and take the ferry to Victoria and spend the day in this charming city with a visit to the world famous Butchart Gardens. Also Whidbey Island, Hurricane Ridge, the rain forest, Poulsbo, Sequim and the lavendar festival and Port Gamble are great trips.

Historic Port Townsend is about 20 minutes away with antique shops, many talented artists offering their wares and lots of charming shops. Farmer's Markets are held every Saturday during the spring and summer. Visit Bremerton and tour the naval shipyards or the Undersea Naval Museum in Keyport.

There are many options if you are adventurous. Or, you may want to stay close by and hike the local trails. It is a short walk to the marina to look at the boats, rental a kayak, fishing boat, or charter a sail boat. If you want a bit more exercise, we provide two sets of golf clubs, two tennis rackets and 4 paddle ball rackets (bring your own balls).

Another option is to stop by the Inn at the Marina and have a glass of wine or dinner. There is a bar and a large covered porch overlooking the marina.

This lovely home is a perfect place for a romantic get-away, retreat, honeymoon or family gathering. Thinking about moving to the area? Short- or long-term rentals available. Just give us a call.

About Joan

I am a retired legal assistant and my husband is a retired real estate project manager.

Joan purchased this house in 2006

Why Joan chose Puget Sound

Our family owns a condo (which we now rent out) at the resort a short distance away so the area was familiar to us. A dear friend previously had thise custom home designed for her. We were thrilled when it came on the market and snatched it right up. Living in the Seattle area makes for a quick weekend get-away or a long-term vacation spot. We love it here!

What makes this house unique

The first time we walked into the house we were captivated by the incredible views. We have complete privacy and no need for curtains or blinds to block the view. Bald Eagles nest in trees close by the house so they are constantly flying overhead or fishing in the water below. Deer wander through the yard daily and there is abundant bird life.

great place to overnight get together with friends and families.

  • 5 of 5

It was the most beautiful and relaxing place. I will go back again.

We should have planned to stay at the house more instead of running around for sightseeing and shopping.

I will bring thick big eye cover as the sun comes in the bedroom.

Our family will definately come back there again.

Owner's Response: I'm so happy you enjoyed your stay at our house. Many people who stay with plans to do a lot of sightseeing end up staying at the house just to enjoy the wonderful View and the deer Eagles and other birds in the yard. And many are lucky enough to see the nuclear submarine pass by on its way to sea or back to Bremerton. The housekeepers are instructed to leave sleep masks for our guests on each night stand. I'm sorry you didn't have one to use and I will definitely speak to our housekeeper who should have left them.

Idyllic Retreat on the Sound

  • 4 of 5

My book club of six senior ladies has been going on an annual retreat for the past 16 years and this place is one of our all-time favorites. The solarium was so relaxing: a great place to enjoy our morning coffee while watching the birds and squirrels, as if we were part of their environment. The doe with her two fawns even came while we were there. The neighborhood is very quiet. The beds were comfy, the bathrooms were spotless, and the kitchen was easy to work in, with the incredible view of the water as we cooked. One of us even used an app to identify the ships sailing by. What fun!

Owner's Response: I am so happy your book club enjoyed your stay at our home. You were very lucky to see the doe and her fawns. The deer wander through our yard almost daily. We love sitting in the solarium and watching the world go by. I'll have to check out the app for identifying ships. Hope you will return.

Spectacular Views

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time during our 2 week stay. It was a very comfortable house for 4 people and with spectacular water views. We thoroughly enjoyed watching the many varieties of birds and deer daily in the back yard. The house had plenty of amenities and kitchen gadgets, not typical for a rental house. Thanks to Joan and Jay for renting the house to us. Chuck and Pam

Owner's Response: We are so happy that you enjoyed your stay at our house. When we are there we spend much of our time in the solarium watching the deer, birds, eagles from a nearby nest and the activity on the water below. We never tire of it. We hope you will come back to enjoy our home again.

Spectacular view, lovely home, beautiful grounds.

  • 4 of 5

We rented the house for a family gathering around a memorial service. The big kitchen and dining area were perfect for a family dinner, and guests loved the comfortable solarium for cozy talks while enjoying the changing view of the light and wind on the water. Everything was clean and the kitchen supplied all we needed.

The only drawbacks were minor. There are no blinds on the bedrooms facing the east. The view is superb, but late sleepers sometimes want to keep the room dark. Also, we were one bed short. I believe the house description said there were two queens in one of the waterside bedrooms, but there was only one, and the Murphy bed in the garden room was inaccessible, because a bed was up against it. It all worked out, and we would come here again. Next time, the early risers get the bedrooms with the view!

Owner's Response: We are so very sorry for the confusion.. After reviewing our website the description for the house and sleeping accommodations is accurate (we do mention not having window coverings and to bring sleep masks if you need a dark room). However, we found our error in the "overview" section. We do say two queens in the green (middle) bedroom. The intention was to show two queens were possible by using the queen air bed. But we certainly see how that was confusing. We do not mention the Murphy bed anywhere because we have replaced it with a more comfortable queen bed. Again, we are so very sorry for the confusion and appreciate you bringing this to our attention so we can fix this error on our webpage.

Our Happy Place

  • 5 of 5

It's hard to find the words to describe our experience in this lovely home. The fabulous view, design of the home, the quality of the furnishings, linens, kitchen design and variety of dishes, appliances, fire places, deck and solarium!! All of these parts of Joan and Jay's home show taste and concern for their guests. We are so at home and comfortable here-- rain or shine!! This location offers so much to see and do -- even staying home and enjoying the view. We have rented here five times and plan to return--- it has become our happy place --- and Joan and Jay are so pleasant and easy to deal with. They truly care about their guests.
