If you prefer a dark room in which to sleep bring your sleep eye covers. We enjoy being awakened by a gorgeous sunrise. Sit in the solarium and watch the eagles fly right overhead or fish in the water below you.

Enjoy unobstructed views of Puget Sound, the Cascade mountains and Mt. Baker from virtually every room in the house. Watch the ever changing activity of cruise ships, sailboats, tankers or a nuclear submarine, from the large deck or our cozy solarium. The professionally landscaped yard is designed for privacy and easy maintenance and features a tranquil pond and natural woodland setting. Watch the deer and raccoons drink from the pond and wander through the yard any given day.

The fully equipped kitchen has a 5 burner Decor gas cooktop, double ovens and Subzero refrigerator, beautiful granite slab countertops, and a view that makes cooking a real pleasure. Or you can pull up a bar stool to the eating counter and grab a quick snack. Fine dining is minutes away if you aren't in the mood for cooking.

The living room has a stone wall with a gas fireplace. Snuggle up on the comfy sofas (one converts to queen size bed) in front of the fireplace and enjoy great conversation, a good book or a glass of wine. Or, simply admire the beauty of the view.

The master bedroom has a large walk-in closet, a king sized bed and 12' sliding glass doors that open to the deck. Lie in bed and watch the sun rise or the cruise ships heading back to port. Master bath has double vanity large spa like shower with double shower heads, and like almost everywhere in this home, incredible water and mt. view!

Bedroom 2 has queen sized bed and a garden view.

Bedroom 3 is very large with queen bed (and space for our queen, double high air bed (available for those groups lookig for a few more sleeping spots). Sliding doors open to the deck. Relax with a cup of coffee at the bistro table with four chairs and enjoy the marvelous water and mountain views.

Bedroom 4 is in our loft bonus room along with our office. It has a queen bed as well as a full size convertible sofa bed. Spectacular views from the office.

The house is beautifully furnished and tastefully decorated to make your stay feel extra special and comfortable.

The soft breezes from the water below make grilling and dining, on the table for six comfortable, even on a hot day, a real treat.

Four fold-up lounging deck chairs are also provided. Try to spot the seals on the rocks below with the telescopes and binoculars provided or just marvel at the incredible view.

From Port Ludlow you can hop a ferry to Seattle and tour the waterfront and famous Pike Place Market or drive about an hour to Port Angeles and take the ferry to Victoria and spend the day in this charming city with a visit to the world famous Butchart Gardens. Also Whidbey Island, Hurricane Ridge, the rain forest, Poulsbo, Sequim and the lavendar festival and Port Gamble are great trips.

Historic Port Townsend is about 20 minutes away with antique shops, many talented artists offering their wares and lots of charming shops. Farmer's Markets are held every Saturday during the spring and summer. Visit Bremerton and tour the naval shipyards or the Undersea Naval Museum in Keyport.

About Joan

I am a retired legal assistant and my husband is a retired real estate project manager.

Why Joan chose Puget Sound

Our family owns a condo at the resort a short distance away so the area was familiar to us. A dear friend previously owned the home and we were thrilled when it came on the market and snatched it right up. Living in the Seattle area makes for a quick weekend get-away or a long-term vacation spot. We love it here!

What makes this house unique

The first time we walked into the house we were captivated by the incredible views. We have complete privacy and no need for curtains or blinds to block the view. Bald Eagles nest in trees close by the house so they are constantly flying overhead or fishing in the water below. Deer wander through the yard daily and there is abundant bird life.

Beautiful home away from home!

  • 5 of 5

We had an amazing time at the Port Ludlow house on the bluff! The home is beautiful, with everything you could ever need and plenty of room for us all! The yard is so much fun with all the birds and feeders. I would sit in the solarium drinking my coffee in the morning, watching the hummingbirds and staring out at the water. The location was perfect, quiet and peaceful, yet not too far from what you would need. The owners were great and made everything so easy! Would love to come back in the future. Thanks so much!!

Owner's Response: We are so pleased that you enjoyed our home. We also love sitting in the solarium watching the wildlife. Deer are frequent visitors and bring their fawns to drink from the pond. Occasionally we see the nuclear subs heading out to sea. Lots of cruise ship activity.

Relaxing oasis

  • 5 of 5

House is in a quiet beautiful neighborhood, just outside of Port Ludlow. Great place for family reunion! Lots of living space for large group to enjoy. House was very clean and well stocked. WIFI was strong - we had no issues with it! Amazing views from every corner of the house! Sunroom was used every morning - we all found ourselves having our morning coffee looking out over the water! Good restaurants in Port Ludlow and in nearby towns. Easy to explore Seattle or Edmonds via ferry, or drive to Port Townsend, Poulsbo, or Port Gamble. Can also easily find your way to Port Angeles and take the ferry to Victoria for the day! During our stay we also saw a submarine pass by on its way to Bangor Naval station! Great place! Highly recommended!

Returning Customers For Life!

  • 5 of 5

We love to stay at this home in Port Ludlow. It's a beautiful home with unmatched views, and a large, sprawling floor plan with lots of room for our big family. The home is clean, and the owners give you all the times you'll need to stay comfortable, fed, and entertained. The only downfalls for us, personally: WIFI is very weak, and the there is limited cable. BUT! We know that's not a deterrant for most. However, we stayed here for almost a week with our extended family (several kids) so we rely on WIFI (iPads) and favorite shows for wind-down/nap times for the little ones. We definitely made it work,, but that would be the one improvement we'd like to see, if possible (sometimes due to location/reception, it's out of the homeowner's hands). Other than that, this is our favorite place to stay! We miss waking up to those stunning views each morning!

Owner's Response: We are also frustrated with the Wi-Fi. Unfortunately, at this time there is no better option in Port Ludlow. We do work on the computer when we are at the house and it takes much longer than at home on Mercer Island. We keep checking around and always get the same answer. This is as good as it gets. Hopefully, some day soon there will be an improvement. Other than the Wi-Fi I am happy that you enjoyed your stay and are looking forward to your return.

Excellent time

  • 5 of 5

We celebrated our anniversary and Thanksgiving..two biggies. First don't try to take away my time...lol It was great..terrific and so relaxing. The house has so much to talk about but most everything was there and available to use. Just the view was so beautiful. I sleep so good and it is so quiet and secluded. As I was walking our dogs a lot of neighbors said.."must have a great view".It does and is so fun to watch the big and little boats and wildlife. It is so worth the stay.
