The incredible views from this lovely custom built, waterfront home will take your breath away. The house offers a secluded setting with a green belt on one side and a house set back from view on the other. No need for window coverings to block the view--it is totally private. If you prefer a dark room in which to sleep bring your sleep eye covers. We enjoy being awakened by a gorgeous sunrise. Sit in the solarium and watch the eagles fly right overhead or fish in the water below you.

Enjoy unobstructed views of Puget Sound, the Cascade mountains and Mt. Baker from virtually every room in the house. Watch the ever changing activity of cruise ships, sailboats, tankers or a nuclear submarine, from the large deck or our cozy solarium. The professionally landscaped yard is designed for privacy and easy maintenance and features a tranquil pond and natural woodland setting. Watch the deer and raccoons drink from the pond and wander through the yard any given day.

The fully equipped kitchen has a 5 burner Decor gas cooktop, double ovens and Subzero refrigerator, beautiful granite slab countertops, and a view that makes cooking a real pleasure. Or you can pull up a bar stool to the eating counter and grab a quick snack. Fine dining is minutes away if you aren't in the mood for cooking.

The living room has a stone wall with a gas fireplace. Snuggle up on the comfy sofas (one converts to queen size bed) in front of the fireplace and enjoy great conversation, a good book or a glass of wine. Or, simply admire the beauty of the view.

The master bedroom has a large walk-in closet, a king sized bed and 12' sliding glass doors that open to the deck. Lie in bed and enjoy the fireplace in the evening and see the cruise ships heading back to port and watch the sun rise over the Cascade Mts. Master bath has double sink with granite slab vanity, large spa like shower with double shower heads, and like almost everywhere in this home, incredible water and mt. view!

Bedroom 2 has queen sized bed and a garden view.

Bedroom 3 is very large with queen bed (and available, space for our queen, double high air bed available for those groups looking for a couple more sleeping spots). Glass doors open to the deck. Relax with a cup of coffee at the bistro table with four chairs and view the marvelous water and mountain views or enjoy the fireplace for added .enjoyment .

Bedroom 4 is in our loft bonus room along with our office. It has a queen bed as well as an oversize twin convertible sofa bed. Spectacular views from the office.

The house is beautifully furnished and tastefully decorated to make your stay feel extra special and comfortable.

The soft breezes from the water below make grilling and dining, on the table for six comfortable, even on a hot day, a real treat.

Two fold-up lounging deck chairs are also provided. Try to spot the seals on the rocks below with the telescopes and binoculars provided or just marvel at the incredible view. There is a small patio with two lounge chairs at the south end of the yard.

From Port Ludlow you can hop a ferry to Seattle and tour the waterfront and famous Pike Place Market or drive about an hour to Port Angeles and take the ferry to Victoria and spend the day in this charming city with a visit to the world famous Butchart Gardens. Also Whidbey Island, Hurricane Ridge, the rain forest, Poulsbo, Sequim and the lavendar festival and Port Gamble are great trips.

Historic Port Townsend is about 20 minutes away with antique shops, many talented artists offering their wares and lots of charming shops. Farmer's Markets are held every Saturday during the spring and summer. Visit Bremerton and tour the naval shipyards or the Undersea Naval Museum in Keyport.

There are many options if you are adventurous. Or, you may want to stay close by and hike the local trails. It is a short walk to the marina to look at the boats, rental a kayak, fishing boat, or charter a sail boat. If you want a bit more exercise, we provide two sets of golf clubs, two tennis rackets and 4 paddle ball rackets (bring your own balls).

Another option is to stop by the Inn at the Marina and have a glass of wine or dinner. There is a bar and a large covered porch overlooking the marina.

This lovely home is a perfect place for a romantic get-away, retreat, honeymoon or family gathering. Thinking about moving to the area? Short- or long-term rentals available. Just give us a call.

About Joan

I am a retired legal assistant and my husband is a retired real estate project manager.

Joan purchased this house in 2006

Why Joan chose Port Ludlow

Our family owns a condo (which we now rent out) at the resort a short distance away so the area was familiar to us. A dear friend previously had thise custom home designed for her. We were thrilled when it came on the market and snatched it right up. Living in the Seattle area makes for a quick weekend get-away or a long-term vacation spot. We love it here!

What makes this house unique

The first time we walked into the house we were captivated by the incredible views. We have complete privacy and no need for curtains or blinds to block the view. Bald Eagles nest in trees close by the house so they are constantly flying overhead or fishing in the water below. Deer wander through the yard daily and there is abundant bird life.

Great friends, great house!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in this house for two weeks with another couple, and in the second week were joined by two more couples. The house had plenty of room for all of us. We found all the kitchen appliances that we needed to make some great dinners, when we didn't eat too much while wandering around during the days. The house was a great location for all the places we wanted to visit.

There was one minor problem, which was addressed quickly and fixed perfectly. We are already planning our trip for next year.

Beautiful Views from every room.

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time relaxing in the sun on the deck, preparing dinner together in a very nice kitchen overlooking the shipping lanes and Puget Sound. Hope to do this again.

Remarkable Home

  • 5 of 5

Several times when we have rented a vacation home, the home doesn't live up to the photos. Not so this time; if anything the photos don't do the home justice. First thing walking into the home we were greeted with a wonderful view of the water and mountains across the way. This home is supplied with all you will need to enjoy a quiet and relaxing stay. A very well stocked kitchen, with a laundry room next to it. The bed was very comfortable, and plenty of linens and soaps were available. We would get up every morning before dawn and sit on the deck and watch the beautiful sunrise. What a sight. In the evening we would sit and watch the sunset color the mountain peaks in the distance. There were large freighters plying back and forth; interesting to get ship names and find out where they were from. We didn't see any deer around the house, but plenty of squirrels and birds of several varieties would visit the feeders. We took several walks around the neighborhood with our dog and met some very friendly people; it was fun to stop and chat. A small store in Port Ludlow has most basic supplies, and a short drive to Port Hadlock which has a supermarket. We drove to Port Townsend to sample some coffee shops and a couple of restaurants. There was no shortage of either. Downtown can get very busy during the day. Fort Worden is a must see, a very interesting place. But most of our time was spent at the nice home enjoying the beautiful scenery. This home just begs you to sit and relax and watch the boats, birds, water, or do nothing but chill out. Can't go wrong with that. I can recommend this home with the utmost confidence you will enjoy your time there. Joan was very responsive to a minor snag in our reservation; and it was all worked out with no fuss. Go, you won't be disappointed.

Owner's Response: We are so happy you enjoyed your stay in our home. When we are there we spend most of our time in the sun room just enjoying the beauty of the area. We usually see deer wondering through the yard and drinking out of the pond. In fact one time a mama deer came with her twin fauns. That was great fun watching them romp around and drink from the pond. Thank you for a very nice review and hope you can return.

An amazing house, made for a memorable trip!

  • 5 of 5

This beautiful home along Hood Canal comfortably housed and slept our group of 8 (four couples) for a busy wedding weekend. The kitchen was spacious enough to satisfy the chefs in the family. In fact, the wedding cake was assembled there. Waking up to a sunrise on the canal and coffee on the back deck was heaven. I can't say enough about this home and it's ideal location.

We are already planning next year's visit.
