Wicked Awsome!

  • 5 of 5

Saw 3 moose, 1 bear, too many loons to count, turkey, baby fox and coyote. Wonderful place to get away from the cell phone/ crackberry. If you enjoy what New England has to offer, one could get lost in this wonderful area. Hiking along very kid friendly trails that follow the many streams and go swimming in the natural pools. Comfortable accomodations and the amenities to have great family dinners. We so enjoyed retreating to the camp fire after an adventure filled day. Our days were not long enough!! Want to come back next year!!!

Fantastic Cabin!

  • 5 of 5

This is a fantastic camp in a great spot. We spent a guys fishing weekend at the cabin, we couldn't have asked for anything better. There's plenty of room to sleep, and plenty of space to just chill out. Plus great fishing right around the corner!

Better than expected!

  • 4 of 5

We got together as a group of guys looking to go to a fishing camp. What we got was a great cottage with more amenities than we could have hoped for. While we were there the grill worked great. The stove was excellent, and there was certainly no shortage of dinnerware. The beds were pretty good and the place was in clean and in good shape when we got there.

We got to spend a lot of fun time fishing the different bodies of water located close by and are already planning our 2016 trip. We look forward to dealing with Dan again as he was very upfront with us and easy to work with.

Very Dissapointed

  • 1 of 5

The place seems nice at first and then as soon as we had issues the owner and didn't want to refund our money back. We had major skunk and water problems, so much that we could not even used the cabin and had to drive 3.5 hours home. This went on for weeks. After repeated request to the owner with no word, we finally decided to move out since the cabin was uninhabitable. BUYER BEWARE. This owner operates on a NO-CONTRACT clause and wants his money up front. Personally I am sure IRS would love to know more about his under the table business. We have filed with the state and BBB and are awaiting a date in court to retrieve our 3K he still owes us. MY ADVICE - KEEP LOOKING!

nice stay overall

  • 3 of 5

We had a nice stay after a few initial snafus. The stove in the kitchen is awesome....loved the griddle for making blueberry pancakes. The deck overlooking the lake was a wonderful place to have morning coffee. We were pleasantly surprised that there were no pesky bugs to speak of during our stay! Enjoyed the easy walk to the store, Al, the proprietor is very friendly. Moose Alley Cones next door had yummy ice cream treats, and we had a wonderful dinner at the Rainbow Grille on Back Lake- make a reservation! Lovely hiking trails and wonderful scenery in the area,.,.We visited 4th Conn. Lake, worth the hike around the lake as well, and there is a neat surprise if you find it at the end of the trail to the lake. Hiked to the falls on the Conn River from 2nd Conn Lake, and enjoyed Beaver Brook Falls near Colebrook. Make sure you drive down the East Inlet Rd to the area kept up by the Nature Conservancy....just gorgeous. Were able to view Mt Washington from the Magalloway Mt firetower, and there are spectacular views from the scenic outlooks. Many of these places were not well advertised, which made hiking that much more enjoyable- no crowded trails or noisy people. But, there were a few things not quite up to snuff at the house. Upon arrival, the house had not been cleaned due to a miscommunication with the cleaning person. She did not come the first day we were there, even though Dan attempted to contact her twice, and we ended up cleaning the house ourselves. Awaiting "some money back" per the owner. Also, there are 2 canoes, but we were only able to locate one kayak paddle, we improvised, taking it apart to use. The pfds were in questionable shape, and we were glad he had brought our own. The owner was notified that the gas grill was not working, we did find a grate to put over the firepit to grill outside, but there was not an adequate supply of wood, as there were instructions not to use the cord wood inside for the woodstove. Glad our teens were not with us, due to the shortage of paddles and the air hockey table depicted is no longer present. Detailed instructions for the TV/DVD would be appreciated for those of us who are "technologically challenged." If you have Verizon for cell phone service, you should be ok, but not if you have any other carrier. It was nice to have wifi at the house, as we needed to be in touch with family during out stay. The owner was gracious in letting us use the house phone.

Owner's Response: I am glad to hear that people post their thought and comments here, so I can make it a better place to stay. im sorry to hear about the paddles for the canoes. they were there at the beginning of the season. I have no control over where people place them when they are done with them , amongst other things..... the air hockey table got broken over the winter, and I found it to be a hazard .... so it was removed, I will be replacing it with another type of game..i am not responsible for camp fire wood.. there is plenty of forest there to pick your own. there is also a lumber yard down the road that sells campfire wood. if there is a problem with the grill, I am not aware of it, this seems to be the only complaint I have received about it. again was in great working order in june when I was there last. thank you again for your comment.
