The structure is completely and exclusively reserved to the guests, exclusive garden, 3 usefull free mountain bike (to let to the costumers to explore the countryside and Palaia). Spent a very nice week here in May. Lovely garden though the weather wasn't quite good enough to take full advantage of it, very quiet and nice 'neighbours' - owners horses! There is a narrow (unpaved) driveway to negotiate and the house sits on a small hillock overlooking the village of Palaia. Relatively easy drive from Pisa airport and very well located to reach major sites in western Tuscany - Volterra, Lucca, San Gimignano, and east to the Chianti hill towns (Radda, Greve, Castellini etc). Florence and Siena also within an hour's drive. We ventured south to Massa Martimma - absolutely charming wee place - and to Piombino where we caught the ferry to Elba. Great days out!
The House itself is relatively well equipped but making tea (and toast!) was a bit of a challenge. I would recommend that the owners invest in a kettle (and maybe a toaster though that's not quite so essential) as boiling water in a pot wasn't exactly safe! The pellet burning stove was very welcome as we had a couple of cold evenings but can't imagine it would be used much in the summer months. It is very efficient!
We didn't eat at the on site restaurant (open Fri-Sun) but judging by how busy it was, it must be good. We ate at the Anticha Farmacia in thr village and had carry out pizza from the al Borgo restaurant opposite the market car park. Both were excellent and good value.
The Owners of Il Fienile are lovely and very helpful. A very pleasant week away - grazie mille!
Nice cottage in a beautiful landscape
We had a beautiful time at the cottage in Palaia. Perfectly located to explore big parts of the Tuscany. The landlords are very friendly and helpful.
The view around the house is amazing especially in the morning.
Thanks again for the hospitality.
Guests delicious , a special family with a beautiful baby girl . Friendliness , education and sympathy . Perfect hosts !
Following the good directions we arrived at the property at 20.00hours and were met by the owners by prior arrangement . The property was a well converted barn with all facilities close to the old farmhouse that is now converted into a part time restaurant . We ate there twice and had a typical Tuscany meal. The views were fabulous from the terraces from either side of the house in the evening. We were made very welcome by the family.
Nice cottage with Tuscany flair
We had a great stay at this beautiful cottage with a wonderful view over Tuscany landscape. The restaurant in the neighbours house is a must.
We had the pleasure to host Stefan and his family, nice guests.
Super Unterkunft-perfekte Lage!!!!
Martina and her family were perfect hosts, a hug from Angiolo and Simona. I hope to see you soon
In the center of Tuscany, ideal point to visit Pisa, Lucca, Florence, Siena, San Gimignano, Volterra, a short distance from the sea and the mountains. Near the medieval village of Palaia, where there are monuments, churches and all the basic amenities. A short distance away you can play sports: tennis, swimming, golf, horseback riding, soccer, moutainbike, beautiful walks in the woods with mushrooms and truffles ...
