Gorgeous views, house is okay
The views are stunning and the location is perfect. The rooms are very small -- there's barely room to walk around the bed in the main bedroom. There is one, two-seater sofa in the lounge and two wicker chairs, so there's not a lot of seating space downstairs. It was basically clean but not spotless: marks on the walls, the sofa cover and a really grubby TV remote. There's no wardrobe space anywhere, although there are some hangers on the back of doors. The beds are unbearably hard, especially in the main bedroom. If you don't like a hard bed, choose somewhere else -- it really is that bad and you won't sleep. The house is fairly well-equipped, although the temperatures had rubbed off the oven in the kitchen, making it very difficult to heat/cook anything. There was half a toilet roll in the entire house, and some out-of-date food in the cupboards. Nothing fresh was left for us (e.g. milk), however there's a Tesco Express and and a Co-op within walking distance. In summary, it's okay -- it reminded me of a student house -- but it's not luxurious. The location and the views really are gorgeous, though, so that counts for a lot!
Affordable accommodation with a beautiful view!
We enjoyed our stay at the property. Our children loved having a park just across the road! There was also plenty of space for us inside the property - we were a group of 2 adults and 2 children. The view is beautiful, especially as the sun is setting. We enjoyed having a glass of wine outside in the evening but would have liked a bit more privacy! The garden wall is low and the road in front was used as a cut through for people on foot. Overall we had a lovely stay! Trips to Portishead Marina and Weston-Super-Mare were highlights. Thanks for having us! :-)
Great views. Owner extremely helpful.
Spectacular views and a great location with easy access to shopping and sightseeing
A serene family home with a bonus of breathtaking views
Had a week's stay at this serene house. Arrived on a Sunday and the road leading to the house were filled with cars on both sides and some on the kerb. One neighbour was very impatient and argued about the road leading to this house(which is a cul-de-sac) being blocked and Emergency Services won't be able to get though😕. We apologized but he didn't want to hear any of it although I explained we had only arrived at the house no more than 10 minutes. It took some effort for us to re-arrange the car on the gravel in front of the house before we got it right. Any car longer than a Saloon car will definitely not fit in front of the house.
After the kerfuffle, we settled in the house. Our worries diminished and we felt at ease. The house itself is lovely.Well equipped just like a home. My daughter liked the room she slept in; so girly and pink filled with soft toys.
The only negative thing I have to mention is the hard mattress in the main bedroom.Perhaps a personal preference but we found the bunk beds to be more comfortable.
My 2 kids absolutely loved the playground which is a stone's throw across the road from the house. They visited it every morning before we left the house and in the evenings when we returned before sunset.
On the whole, an ideal family home to relax set on a location with beautiful views and clean sea air to revive one's lungs.Wished we could have stayed longer.
We found a spacious and lovely warm house on arrival on a cold late winters day. It was too dark to be able to appreciate the view but the following morning we realise what a fab location this was.
Portishead is also a good location for exploring N Somerset. The house has easy links to the M5 motorway and Bristol. Although reaching the property is greatly aided by a Satnav as it is off the main roads.
Communication with the owner was good (They speak German as well as English). they live next door.
The house is well equipped and now has a microwave in the fully equipped kitched. As a group we did feel that the property could benefit from a spring clean and freshening up of the paintwork. The bathrooms in particular were not very clean.
The beds and bedding were also not as good as they could be (as mentioned in a previous review) the master bedroom has a kingsize bed (A bonus) but the supplied bedding was too small leaving one of uncovered as we slept. The beds are rather firm and would be more comfortable if some memory foam "toppers" were added.
We would rent this property again when we are in the area and with the above tweaks it would get five stars.
