This lovely in-town home 1 block from the Village Green and 2 blocks from the waterfront has been fully renovated with all your comforts in mind. A retro kitchen and 5 bedrooms are vintage cottage perfect for your vacation in the spring, summer or fall. Take in the sights and sounds of Bar Harbor and Frenchman Bay, explore the natural beauty of Acadia National Park on your own or with its many Ranger talks and guided tours. Take a carriage ride or hike Cadillac Mountain. Relax on one of the many boating excursions or simply sit back and watch a world class cruise ship come in to Frenchman Bay. View the first sunrise on the Eastern seaboard from the Summit and enjoy the beautiful sunsets as well. This cottage offers a restful spot for relaxing on the enclosed porch with large sliding windows and wicker furnishings. A large private deck off the second floor master bedroom provides additional outdoor space for relaxation. A new backyard stone patio and grill is perfect for barbecue.

Travel on Mt. Desert Island / Downtown Activities: The Island Explorer is a free bus service running fixed schedules for 7 different routes on MDI in the summer months. One of those routes has a stop just across the MDI bridge in Trenton. Some buses have bike transport. This wonderful, convenient, congestion-reducing service is provided in large part by a grant from the LL Bean Company (the original store located in Freeport, Maine, north of Portland, is open 24 hours in case you are traveling from that direction. They also have an outlet store in Ellsworth, Maine, on the road to Bar Harbor.

Downtown Bar Harbor. Beyond the many interesting stores and restaurants and sights downtown, do enjoy one of the various boat trips out of Frenchman Bay. One of our favorites: Lulu's Lobster Boat with Capt. John. Very educational and enjoyable including a trip around the local seal haven and some lobster trap stops along the way. Also, enjoy cruise ship watching in Frenchman Bay as you stroll along the Shore Path or relax on a bench.

Acadia Park Ranger Talks and Walks: Acadia park ranger talks or walks: There are many of these daily and they are very enjoyable and informative. The topics range from geology to carriage trails to animals and birds of Acadia to history, such as the fire of 1947, to many different seascape or tidal pool topics. There is also a topic and slide show presented every evening at Blackwoods Camp and a hawk watch on Cadillac Summit at the appropriate season. We have found the rangers who present topics to be very dedicated to their subject matter.

Acadia: In addition to 44 miles of carriage trails, there are many opportunities for walks and bike rides of varying distances, and mountain hikes of varying degrees of challenge and effort with the ultimate probably being Precipice Trail. There are also Echo and Eagle Lakes and Sand Beach for water activities.

Jordan Pond: Don't miss the experience of coming here for the tradition of tea and popovers in the afternoon.

Relax and enjoy the beautiful view.

Golf on MDI - a Special Pleasure: Kebo Valley Golf Club -- very near Eden Center Cottage and a real treat and challenge to play. 8th oldest course in the US. It began as a race track and the terrain of the track is evident in the layout of the holes closest to the clubhouse. With the beauty and looming presence of Cadillac Mountain many greens have unexpected breaks and none more surprising so than the 17th hole. Also, from the vast sloped waste bunker of the 17th hole legend says President Taft took 27 strokes to escape. No matter how you play, unfailingly you will enjoy the day.

Northeast Harbor Golf Course -- a narrow, very scenic course threading through a hilly and wooded terrain on many holes. Short in length but challenging and very enjoyable for a strategy of positional golf.

Causeway Club -- Southwest Harbor. This is a pleasant, enjoyable, relatively flat 9 hole course with some water views. It does have a several very challenging holes and is recommended for a leisurely walk.

Perfect Location, super home

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in late April, Early May. We stayed with 4 of us, me, my wife and 2 boys. This house is large and equipped for waaay more people. We were late planning and wanted to stay in Bar Harbor in a central location. We are really happy that we picked this house. The location cannot be beat. Walking distance to everything Bar Harbor. One of the features of the house has a really nice, glassed in porch, It opens up, but when we were there it was pretty cold and it was a great sun-room. Great place for coffee in the morning when it's freezing outside.

The house is well equipped and all the basic supplies and then some. Super cozy. Would love to go again and bring grandmas and sisters, brothers and cousins along. Jerry provided us with all the info you could possibly need as far as things to do and see. Neighbors were super friendly.

We grew up and live in the Caribbean, so Maine is far removed from what we are used to. This house has the character that we were looking for really made our experience one of immersion. We would not hesitate to go back and can only hope that we are lucky enough to stay here again. Thanks Jerry!

Owner's Response: Paul, thank you very much for your kind words. It was a pleasure having you and your family stay with us and we are delighted you enjoyed your stay and what Bar Harbor and Acadia offer. We especially appreciate your making the trek all the way from Sint Maarten in the Caribbean to Mt. Desert Island. By the way, we've been to Sint Maarten ourselves so I guess we've had an enjoyable exchange of venues of sorts!:-) We've love to have you return again -- thank you. Jerry & Rebecca

Eden Center Cottage

  • 5 of 5

We were very pleased with Eden Center Cottage. We had a family group of 9 inluding a 15 month old. The cottage was clean and well stocked. The gas grill in the very nice little patio in back worked well. The owners were very helpful in sending on recommendations for the drive from Portland, restaurants, and things to do in an e-mail at an appropriate time before traveling. Also in responding to an e-mail to help us rent a high chair.

The cottage is on a quiet little street and very convenient to downtown Bar Harbor and is possible to walk to all the attractions in town. There is off street parking for 2 cars.

I would strongly recommend this place and wouldn't hesitate to come back again.

The cottage is not fancy but remodeled nicely and fits the area nicely.

We were there the last week of May including Memorial Day weekend. It was a cool but we had sunny weather. It was nice to avoid the crowds the week after Memorial Day weekend and almost everything we wanted to do was open.

Perfect spot to unwind

  • 5 of 5

Sibling vacation.. We're all 55+.. Wonderful, well appointed home! Hosts are exceptionally cordial and helpful and welcoming. Location is perfect.. The town can get crowded so we parked the car and walked everywhere in town. Shuttle to points all over the area! Minutes to Acadia Nat'l Park and all it has to offer. We were on our way further up the coast and were here for only three nights which happened to fit into the owners' rental schedule. Would love to come back and stay longer!! Most highly recommended!!

Perfect family gathering place!

  • 5 of 5

We went to Bar Harbor for a family wedding. Some of the group stayed at a hotel. But, my group included an infant so we decided a house would be more comfortable and it certainly was. The house a very short walk to any place you want to go, shops, groceries, restaurants and buses that will take you to the

national park. The house is stocked with anything you could think of, from picnic supplies to coolers to pots and pans of every size, they've thought of everything. We were a party of 5 (not inclding the baby) shared the 3 bedrooms on the 2nd floor, didn't even need the 2 bedrooms on the 3rd floor. We made advance arrangements to have crib and stroller delivered to the house via Acadia Baby Outfitters, item were on the porch when we arrived. The house was spotlessly clean, the beds are comfy and the enclosed porch provides even more room to spread out.

Jerome was very quick to reply to my questions in the booking process and he sent tons of helpful information on things to do and see. Our favorite was Thunde Hole in the national park, don't miss it. Also, the low tide walk over to Bar Island was a good activity for family members of all ages. If you hike up the island be sure to look for the tree branch markers on the trail, it will point you in the right direction to an opening that gives you a

stunning view of the harbor. I recommend this property and would definitely rebook if we were to plan another trip.

Cozy, convenient and all-around wonderful!

  • 5 of 5

We had such a wonderful week! Eden Center Cottage couldn't have been more warm and inviting; and the location was so incredibly convenient. We were able to explore Bar Harbor and much of Acadia National Park without ever needing to get into our car. We loved every moment of our trip, including hikes along the Ocean, Shore, Beech and Cadillac Mountain trails; kayaking around the islands, biking the carriage paths; strolling around town; slipping out for ice cream and a few nice dinners; swimming at Echo Lake and more.

Perfect vacation rental

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed a wonderful vacation week in Bar Harbor/Acadia National Park, due in large part to this great downtown home. We were traveling to Bar Harbor with 11 family members between the ages of 3 and 66 for the first time, and this home worked beautifully for our needs. Everyone had a comfortable place to sleep and lots of room in the house to spread out, the home was very clean and well-maintained, and appeared just as described. The location couldn't be more convenient for walking everywhere in town. We enjoyed as much as you could possibly fit in a week, including a very fun July 4th celebration in town. Highlights included the top of Cadillac Mountain at both sunrise and sunset, tea and popovers at Jordans Pond House, a carriage ride through Acadia, Lulu Lobster Boat, Diver Ed's Dive-in Theatre, great food and ALOT of ice cream! Most importantly, the owners of this home are amazing. We have done alot of vacation rentals over the years and these are by far the best home-owners we have encountered as far as answering questions and providing an abundance of information about the local area. Thanks Jerry and Rebecca! We will definitely look forward to visiting Bar Harbor again in the future!
