We were totally in awe of our "luck" in finding this cabin through an online source, rather than friends or referrals I had never booked a vacation this way and was skeptical at least. The owners have excellent customer service/communication and have an incredible attention to details and hospitality. The cozy, classy decor was exceptional and hard to leave! Loved the secluded, private setting. Thank you JJ's Retreat for your part in a truly unforgettable family memory. Some tips highlights follow!
We dined at the Dillard House (total wow factor according to the teens), they LOVED Alpine Helen and Cherokie NC and meeting the Indians, the culture. Their favorite was "grubbin" at Gold N Gem's where we found HUGE rubies, sapphires, emerald among many gems and had the stones cut and rings made right there! They even liked hiking and all the N GA waterfalls and nature. They actually became antique junkies and wanted to hit every antique shop. I don't think I saw them TEXT all week!!

JJ's Retreat is a fabulous place to stay in the north Georgia mountains! We arrived in the dark, so at first simply marvelled at how well appointed the cabin was, and went to bed. The next morning we got a real treat when we woke up to wonderful views! The sunrise from behind the mountains opposite the rear porch is stunning... and at the other end of the day we star-gazed from the hot tub. The first morning, my dad, who doesn't sleep heavily, said he had the best night's sleep for the first night in a new place / bed he'd ever had, which is quite an achievement!
Brian and Dale have thought of just about everything, and far more than most vacation rental owners usually do - it almost felt like a show home that we shouldn't be spoiling, everything was so beautiful, yet it was very homely and comfortable at the same time.
All 4 of us (myself and hubby, plus my parents visiting from the UK) enjoyed our stay and really had a hard time leaving. This is the first vacation rental we've stayed in that we have immediately wanted to go back to and take other people with us to enjoy! Truly memorable for so many reasons, all of them good :-D
I should also add that the whole rental process, from the first enquiry to the directions we were given to get there, was also very easy and pleasurable, which of course sets the trip out on the right footing.
Thank you for everything - whenever we can find the time off work (!) we will be back again, probably with different visitors or maybe even on our own, despite the place being a bit more than 2 people need!
We will definitely book JJ's Retreat the next time we head up to North Georgia. The property is a home and doesn't feel at all like a rental. Very warm, comfortable and welcoming property in a very quiet, pretty location.
The place mat with water bowl and accompanying biscuit for our dog was a thoughtful and appreciated touch.
Had one of the best burger's ever at Brother's at Willow Ranch in Young Harris; and the wait-staff make you feel like family.
Crane Creek Vineyards is only about 3-miles away and worth an afternoon visit. Wine tasting and bottles were reasonably priced and the setting, looking east over the vineyards, was as beautiful as it was relaxing. We also enjoyed the Brasstown Valley Resort. Plan on a late dinner and have a drink or two prior, sitting on the deck watching the sun set.
There's lots to do in the area if you like the outdoors and hike, bike or fish. If you just want to kick back and relax... well, there aren't many places better for that either. We also took a trip over to Blue Ridge for, believe it or not, an olive oil and balsamic vinegar tasting. We found it fascinating, informative and fun. Good place to pick up gifts, especially for friends that like to cook. Here's a free tip... if so inclined to sample, try the red cayenne chili infused olive oil last. We had such a great and fun experience staying here. Everything was so clean and in place, they literally thought of everything! We went out during the day on Saturday and coming back to a beautiful and relaxing cabin was exactly what we needed! It felt like home! We will be coming back for sure! Thank you so much for a beautiful stay :)
We have stayed here a few times. So much room and like a home away from home. Wouldn't even consider another cabin!!!!!
The home is immaculately clean and well maintained. Brian was very responsive and helpful with questions and issues before our arrival. Once there, it was equally easy to enjoy the weekend with such a well equipped home. We found everything we needed for preparing snacks in the kitchen, and it is well supplied if you were to prepare large meals too. There are extra blankets, towels, soap, and dish washing detergent. The quality of the furnishing, bedding, towels, and other supplies make you feel as if you're staying in a friend's home rather than a rental property.
This is my favorite cabin of all of those at which I have stayed. Every detail addressed made this home feel like the most homey, yet very special place. While here, we enjoyed Cane Creek Winery and a fabulous restaurant in Hayesville, the Copper Door. I would readily return with friends or my family to share a wonderful experience.
We are located a short driving distance to horseback riding, golf, water sports, several lakes, white water rafting, Brasstown Bald, hiking, John C.
