This half acre property is located just 6 miles from downtown San Jose Del Cabo in the guarded and gated community of Laguna Hills, walking distance to the beach. This is a 1 bedroom / 1.5 bath solar powered casita with ocean and mountain views. There is another rental on the property, an ocean view studio which is 642197 and can be rented also. Each property has their own space and privacy.
Enjoy home cooked meals on your own private patio, from this solar powered casita. Or, if you don't feel like cooking, take a short walk down to the beach where our local bar and grill, Buzzards, serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Also, just a few minutes walk down the hill from the casita, is a beautiful white sandy beach. From late Nov to March, you're sure to see and hear the Grey and Humpack whales as they pass by. Surf spots are just a few miles up the road. Wireless internet available! Dogs will be considered in the casita.
I purchased this lot while on vacation in 1987..and starting the process of building. built the guest cottage first, lived in it and it's been my rental now for 19 years. I have since, built a main home for myself and most recently, another rental casita. I live on the property full time with my dog.

This was our sixth time staying at Casita Salina Vista. We have been staying here off and on since 2006. Being off the grid is part of the experience that adds value to our rest and relaxation! Laguna Hills is a safe and secure area within easy walking distance to the beach. The hardest part about staying here is having to leave! Kim and Shorty are great hosts, and we look forward to our next stay with them.
My wife and I stayed for 6 days just after Hurricane Sandra had dumped quite a bit of rain on the area. There was no visible damage apart from that the dirt road was a poor condition - with hindsight, we recommend renting a Jeep or SUV instead of a small sedan. After 5 days a Caterpillar re-scraped the road, and the day we left it was in much better shape so most of the inconvenience was due to the heavy rain just before we arrived.
That said, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and it started with our gracious host Kim, who was available to answer questions at any time including weather forecasts prior to our journey - which allowed us to delay the trip by two days so that the rain would not directly impact our visit. Thanks for being so flexible!
The listing description is accurate regarding the location, layout, amenities, etc., and the property was clean and well-maintained. The shower had just been renovated per the owner, and the main bathroom is spacious and great - you access it by walking a few steps outside the house, around the corner, whether from the main entrance or from the bedroom. The master bedroom has an en suite toilet. There is adequate privacy om all sides.
It was our first experience of staying in a 100% solar powered home - all homes in the area run on solar, with water being trucked in, and gas used for stove and oven. It all went without any problems. Be aware, as the descriptions states, that there is no microwave, and no TV. There is a small stereo system. The wireless Internet was too weak to work inside the property (I tried both my Samsung laptop and iPhone 6), but sitting on the patio it worked flawlessly - and that by itself was a very good reason to go an sit outside!
One day we drove to Cabo San Lucas (30 minutes away on a dual lane highway). That proved to us that staying in San Jose del Cabo (the "Other Cabo") was definitely the right choice. Much gentler and laid back.
In all, we recommend the property highly to any couple who wants peace and serenity, while being just 15 minutes away from San Jose del Cabo and all its wonderful restaurants, plus a huge supermarket called Mega. We tried three restaurants: La Lupita Tacos & Mezcal, Blue Fish Cabo, and Retro Burger Bar (you can find my reviews on TripAdvisor), in addition to Buzzards that is reached by foot just a few hundred yards from the property.
And yes, the location provides easy beach access.
What an amazing place! If you are wanting to get away from the touristy-all inclusive resort crowd, this is the place. The casita has everything you could ever need! The 2 bathrooms are great, the kitchen has everything you need to prepare any meal - if you are just wanting to take a break from the local restaurants. We spent our time exploring and surfing the amazing beaches of the East Cape during the day - then heading to San Jose Del Cabo at night. Kim is a great and caring host. She can and will help you find anything you are looking for.. This is an added bonus!! The weather couldn't have been better. The surf was amazing, beaches flawless, and even the whales made guest appearances most days!!
We would come back in a heart beat.. Even the pot-holes on the local access road wouldn't deter us! What a great opportunity to see fairly undisturbed nature in Southern Mexico.
Kim: Thanks again for the wonderful experience!!
Fabulous! Whales leaping offshore (a few times, most days), long, long beautiful beach, walk for miles, no people, beautiful tide pools, crashing surf sometimes, calm swimming other times, desert climate at the seashore, mountain views, brilliant night skies, cool nights in February. Nifty cottage for 2, furnished with all you need, sit inside or out very comfortably. Kim marvelously helpful and resourceful with everything when/if needed. You can shop in town and cook, or eat all your meals (except Sunday dinner) at the good restaurant about a 5 minute walk, edge of beach. Lots more a half hour away in town.
We were visiting a friend in the neighborhood and used Kim's for our sleeping quarters, sunrises, coffee and early morning whale watching. A great location for day tripping or a quiet, peaceful respite for reading, writing, walking, painting or whatever. The beach is close, as is Buzzard's for GREAT margaritas and excellent food. The property is pristine and fully equipped including coolers, umbrellas, cold water and lots of towels. A welcoming place to enjoy the warmth and sun of the desert when it was so COLD and gray back home. The ONLY reason I did not give a 5 star rating is that the bed is quite hard and needs another layer of "soft". Otherwise, PERFECT.
This was our second stay, both times during February. Sunshine and "just-right" warm every day. Lots of whale viewing. Accommodations attractive and clean. Owner was available for help when needed. This residential area with beautiful homes on large lots is quiet and provides interesting walks up and down the winding hills. lots of sandy, uncrowded beach. The drive into San Jose to the Mega store for groceries every few days is the right amount of diversity. we enjoyed meeting some of the neighbors who invited us to their homes. One invited me to go to yoga with her. I celebrated a significant decades birthday while there at at "The Matador" in San Jose. Fabulous!
