This updated cottage is the perfect vacation spot offering spectacular views of Nantucket sound from the living room, dining area, master bedroom. An awesome Bose sound system, gas grill, ultra quiet Bosch dishwasher and washer/ dryer make your time away so much easier. Enjoy the bustle of downtown Chatham with the finest shops and restaurants on the cape. Stroll lighthouse beach and spot the grey seals basking in the sun or swimming in the waves. After a day at the beach or in town wind down on the back deck with a cool drink and enjoy the soft ocean breezes. The Friday night band concerts on the green are not to be missed. There are so many things to do in Chatham: hiking, biking, swimming, fishing, tennis, golf, watching the catch come in on the fish pier ( be prepared to see the reel deal) or for a quieter day- shopping, antiquing or napping on the beach. At night there is live theater in Chatham or in nearby Orleans. If you love movies---Wellfleet drive in is a favorite of our family.
The cottage is small, however there are 2 full bathrooms and an outdoor shower. The second bedroom has two sets of bunk beds ( 4 single beds).
The bunks are best for children but can accommodate adults.
What else could you ask for.......................
We have vacationed at this lovely cottage for several years because we have found the location to be perfect and the accommodations sufficient for our needs. The property owners are very quick to address any issues and are very easy and pleasant to work with.
Given that we have rented for several years, we have seen several renovations to the cottage that have made our stay more comfortable such as new windows, living room television and appliances. The fully furnished kitchen has almost everything we would need (but we do bring our own Keurig) and the WiFi is quick and reliable. We also bring a Wii so that on rainy days the kids can have something to do.
My only concerns of the property are that the bedroom(s) could use a television (as with aging kids I don't want to watch what they watch) as it had in previous years, the BBQ is in desperate need of new grates, the beach chairs could use replacing and while the electrical is fine, it would be nice if there was a larger (or separate one for the bedrooms) AC unit that cooled the entire property (not that it is always hot at the Cape but it usually humid). This last point is one that we have struggled with but given the outstanding location one we have overlooked.
Things to do nearby for those who are not familiar with the area:
Food - First and foremost - Marions pie shop right up the street is a must do. Best pastries and you must be there early. Other great places to eat include the Kreme & Kone, Hot Stove or Brax (in Harwich) and there are plenty of ice cream shops!
Shopping is always good as are Chatham A games.
If you can get to Provincetown (P-Town) go on Dolphin Fleet for a whale watch.
Beach - you are right on Ridgevale Beach. There is a great (but slow) snack shack and you can rent SUP and boats right there.
Overall, this cottage affords its guests the perfect location with comfortable accommodations for a wonderful Cape trip.
Our family of four stayed here for a week and had a wonderful time.
We were very pleased with this sweet, cozy cottage by the sea. It is well-equipped and very clean. The family room, kitchen and dining area were quite spacious...larger-feeling than the pictures indicate. It's an older home so the furnishings aren't brand-new and the bedrooms and a bathroom may be smaller-scale but, to me, that didn't matter one bit. I loved living here for the week. What a fantastic location! It's situated in a beautiful and quiet neighborhood but is just a quick walk to a bustling and very "family-friendly" beach. Probably the most "family-friendly" I've ever seen. Not only were there lifeguards and gentle waters but everyone, for lack of a better term, was well-behaved. There were many large family groups and people talked, played beach games, swam, etc. without imposing on others or getting on the lifeguards' nerves. Around 4:00, nearly everyone picked up all at once and went home for dinner. They came back after dinner to see the sunset. The town of Chatham itself has more charm...in abundance. This is a great place for a slower, quieter but thoroughly enjoyable vacation. I came away with a greater appreciation for the beauty of Cape Cod and its residents.
Great location and very charming, comfortable, and clean home. Home included many essentials that are often lacking in other long term rentals. Our toddler loved walking on the bridge to the beach and playing in the sand. Close to the downtown shops of Chatham. Had a delicious meal at near by Del Mar Bistro.
We've been coming here for almost 10 years and it never disappoints.
The house is on a neighborhood association beach pathway 100 yards from the private section of Ridgevale beach bridge. The public beach with lifeguards and a grocery/snack shop is just steps away as well.
Perfect for children with lots of wading pools and a constant gentle breeze. Additionally, School House pond, a spring fed fresh water body of water is a quick bike ride away (less than 2 miles). The cape cod bike path is less than a mile from the house.
Other Activities: Concert on the Town Green and local theater
