About the property

House, 4 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 9)

On a private half-acre backing onto a nature trail, our spacious retreat is a short walk to Asilomar beach, the most beautiful beach on the Monterey Peninsula. The great room has soaring ceilings, a spacious dining area, a kitchen bar and couches looking on to the gardens. The cozy living room has a wood-burning fireplace and couch with a fold out bed. The four bedrooms all have French doors opening onto the grounds. This retreat also has a game room, with a foosball table and brochures about area attractions. This home’s lounging spaces and chef’s kitchen will tempt you to hibernate. Yet we also provide a 30-page guide with our insights about the best walks, the best local restaurants, and fun things to do when you venture out.

Walk a few blocks from the retreat to the Asilomar State Park and beach entrance. From there, you may stroll the beach and miles of coastal paths. We are walking distance to the beginning of 17-mile drive, one of the most scenic drives in the world and to the Monarch Sanctuary, where thousands of monarch butterflies winter after their migration from Canada. Downtown Pacific Grove, with its quaint shops and excellent restaurants, is a 6-minute car ride away. Downtown Monterey is 11-minutes away while the Monterey Aquarium is just 8 minutes away. Nearby Lovers Point offers a protected sandy beach, great for kids, swimming, and snorkeling. And downtown Carmel is a 15 minute drive.

Our home is private, light, and lovingly cared for. It is a perfect place for you to relax, reconnect with family and friends, and explore the Monterey Peninsula.

The BEST Place I've Ever Been!

  • 5 of 5

Incredible, comfortable and peaceful to stay in the Asilomar Ocean Retreat! It's a fabulous place to stay with friends and families.

Nice layout with several indoor spaces, especially the large open kitchen and the wonderful bedrooms. As we arrived with my 5 other friends, we've played basketball in the yard and spent a wonderful time in the game room together with much fun.

Fatijah is a wonderful host and we had great communication with her. I highly recommend you spending some time here, and exploring the fabulous beach!!

Wonderful retreat!

  • 5 of 5

I am not used to going on a retreat with friends, but I believe the experience of staying in this house over the weekend will change my habit. With 5 best friends, my stay here was fantastic.

One impressive feature of the house is that it enjoys plenty of sunshine. The ceiling of the living room is high, with skylights, and all rooms have big windows. On Sunday morning when I woke up, I felt very warm, with sunshine filling the house, which was great for a cozy weekend morning. The main bedroom was also very spacious, great for a vacation. The kitchen is clean and tidy, with all the accessories needed for cooking. There is a spacious front and back yard, for many activities (we played basketball in the front yard). The house was close to the sea, which was very convenient. Overall a great experience and highly recommended!

From our 4 year old Alexandra

  • 5 of 5

I had a good time at the beach. We found treasures in the tide pools. I saw a crab run on the sand and the anemones hugged my finger. I also liked exploring the yard at the house. It is big with lots of trees pine cones and I like to chase my sister. My uncle Patrick came over and we had yummy pancakes. My sister had a good trip too.

Quality Family Time

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this property! I can think of no better place to stay with our little ones (age 2 and 4) considering the great layout of the house, with the open plan kitchen, dining room and living room. There's a lovely relaxing atmosphere due to the various sky lights and the trees you see through every window as well as the sound of waves crashing on the shore when the French doors are open. There is a lovely and sizable yard to go discover things or sit and relax, and the beach is just a short walk away. It made for a wonderfully tranquil family trip, which frankly is hard to come by with little ones.

With the way the bedrooms are spread out there is a great level of privacy so we hope we can come stay again in the future with friends who also have kids, or with extended family.

We highly recommend this place for anyone, but families or groups of friends in particular.

Comfortable and convenient

  • 5 of 5

The house is clean, fresh, and comfortable. It suited our large extended family nicely--eight of us stayed at the house and the rest stayed at nearby Asilomar Conference Center, a quick and easy walk away. The house is very convenient to Asilomar beach and to Pacific Grove. It's in a lovely neighborhood, perfect for walks to the beach and to the butterfly refuge or for just meandering on the nature trail or deer trail. We tried out many of the restaurants suggested in the helpful booklet--our favorites were Taqueria del Mar and Fandango. The basketball hoop was appreciated by the sportier types in our crowd. Altogether, a lovely vacation--we would definitely come back!

Map

We are two blocks from the Asilomar entrance. Walk through to the beach. From there you can walk for miles on the ocean footpath or spend the day on Asilomar Beach which is perfect for surfing or tide pooling. Nearby Lover’s Point is a protected sandy cove, ideal for snorkeling or swimming. We are near the beginning of 17 mile drive, one of the most scenic drives in the world. Downtown Pacific Grove, with its quaint shops and an abundance of excellent restaurants, is a short drive away. Carmel and its numerous attractions is also very close, while a little further afield is the wild beauty of Point Lobos or of Big Sur. (you will find books of hikes at our house)
