We built our Log Home and moved to Saddleback Lake in June of 1995 and spent two glorious years cementing our love for everything Rangeley, Maine. Our three kids are now in college and we rent our home to help with tuition bills.
We are fortunate to have one of the best rentals in all of Rangeley. If your family values peace and quiet and time on a quiet motor-free lake then please plan your vacation today.

Rangeley is a true 4-season resort area. One of the few places that has it all, mountains, lakes and forests. Wildlife abounds around Saddleback Lake and it is just the perfect place to spend some family time.
Your quintessential Maine experience.
My family of 5 and 2 dogs stayed comfortably for a week in September. The weather was perfect and we were able to swim in the crystal clear lake, which was very warm and we encountered no leeches. We watched a bald eagle from the kayaks in saddleback lake, saw many moose on roads located all around the cabin, hiked up saddleback to rock pond where we found a nesting pair of Eagles, and relaxed. The cabin has everything you need and makes you feel like you have a private lake to yourself. This is our second stay to the loons call, and we can't wait to return.
We love coming to this home so much. Beautiful property and surrounding area, perfect for exploring. The views are like no other. The home itself is amazing and has just about everything you could possibly need. We will keep coming back as long as we can!
Excellent location and house. Careful attention to yard and vegetable garden. Great region for sightseeing.
My family and I stayed here during August and absolutely loved it! The house was beautiful, the yard was well landscaped and it was very private. It isn't too far from town, where there's a small grocery store and a charming little Main Street with cute shops and restaurants. The Rangeley area is gorgeous and this was a perfect place to enjoy it. I would definitely recommend this to anyone!
The house was great and located in a beautiful spot. Kids enjoyed all the amenities, from kayaks and canoes to games and stuffies. Loons, hummingbirds, frogs and more. Enjoyed several family hikes to bald mtn., cascade streams, smalls falls and included the AT as part of a father/son/dog hike from saddleback summit to the horn and back. Downtown has great shops and dining. Rented a pontoon boat for tubbing and sightseeing. We hope to visit again!
First we start by saying what a beautiful location this home is. If you like to hear nothing but animals and insects, this place is for you! We enjoyed quiet mornings on the deck, watching stars at the campfire and spending time in and around the Rangeley Lake region looking for Moose. Our 7th stay in the area for vacation, my teens loved the cabin, not the Lake. With this said, we felt let down by a few things that should have been stated prior to our arrival. We booked this location for three reasons, quiet location, private swimming and fishing. Upon entering the cabin, we were greeted with a note from the owners welcoming us and stating they had never seen the Lake this low, and swimming can take place at the community beach down the road. Had we wanted a community beach to swim & fish, that is the rental we would have looked for this summer. This Lake was awful vs Rangeley or Mooselookmeguntic. It was extremely low and the 3 days we treked down thru the woods to the dock, we observed several leeches swimming around, something we have "never" seen in the other lakes. I remember reading one of the reviews and someone mentioned the leeches and the owner passed them off as you just can't stay in one place. Even the folks at the community beach said they have seen the leeches & don't stay in too long. We went to the public swimming on Rangeley in Town and spent time at Smalls Falls. Yes it was 1,000 feet of private shoreline & beach, just with lots of bugs and little water. Fishing was just as bad. We purchased licenses ahead of time to be legal, what a waste of money. Because the water was so low, we couldn't fish from the dock without the lines getting caught on rocks. And if we tried to fish in the water, the leeches would go after us. Again, we went to the public access locations to fish, not happy at all. The rock in the cove in the pictures with the kids in the water was 3/4 exposed. We should have been advised. The cabin had some flaws too. Although we had little rain, when it did rain, the skylight leaked. The basement was musty. My mother in law who stayed with us, had a hard time lifting her legs. She wanted to watch the Olympics but could not make the steps up and down to the 2nd level or basement to watch tv. Why there was no tv on the 1st flr was strange? The listing said upstairs, we assumed that was upstairs from the basement. Overall, its a nice place, and many memories were made. We loved the Loons, cabin & peacefulness, just not the Lake.
Note, Saddleback Lake is motor free - no motor boats, no snowmobiles on and around lake, But both are welcome on nearby lakes and trails. We are 10 Minutes From Saddleback Mountain! Ski to the XC trails right from our front yard. 50 minutes to Sugarloaf
