Relaxing, entertaining, accommodating!!

  • 5 of 5

The house was great and located in a beautiful spot. Kids enjoyed all the amenities, from kayaks and canoes to games and stuffies. Loons, hummingbirds, frogs and more. Enjoyed several family hikes to bald mtn., cascade streams, smalls falls and included the AT as part of a father/son/dog hike from saddleback summit to the horn and back. Downtown has great shops and dining. Rented a pontoon boat for tubbing and sightseeing. We hope to visit again!

Solitude & Disappointment

  • 3 of 5

First we start by saying what a beautiful location this home is. If you like to hear nothing but animals and insects, this place is for you! We enjoyed quiet mornings on the deck, watching stars at the campfire and spending time in and around the Rangeley Lake region looking for Moose. Our 7th stay in the area for vacation, my teens loved the cabin, not the Lake. With this said, we felt let down by a few things that should have been stated prior to our arrival. We booked this location for three reasons, quiet location, private swimming and fishing. Upon entering the cabin, we were greeted with a note from the owners welcoming us and stating they had never seen the Lake this low, and swimming can take place at the community beach down the road. Had we wanted a community beach to swim & fish, that is the rental we would have looked for this summer. This Lake was awful vs Rangeley or Mooselookmeguntic. It was extremely low and the 3 days we treked down thru the woods to the dock, we observed several leeches swimming around, something we have "never" seen in the other lakes. I remember reading one of the reviews and someone mentioned the leeches and the owner passed them off as you just can't stay in one place. Even the folks at the community beach said they have seen the leeches & don't stay in too long. We went to the public swimming on Rangeley in Town and spent time at Smalls Falls. Yes it was 1,000 feet of private shoreline & beach, just with lots of bugs and little water. Fishing was just as bad. We purchased licenses ahead of time to be legal, what a waste of money. Because the water was so low, we couldn't fish from the dock without the lines getting caught on rocks. And if we tried to fish in the water, the leeches would go after us. Again, we went to the public access locations to fish, not happy at all. The rock in the cove in the pictures with the kids in the water was 3/4 exposed. We should have been advised. The cabin had some flaws too. Although we had little rain, when it did rain, the skylight leaked. The basement was musty. My mother in law who stayed with us, had a hard time lifting her legs. She wanted to watch the Olympics but could not make the steps up and down to the 2nd level or basement to watch tv. Why there was no tv on the 1st flr was strange? The listing said upstairs, we assumed that was upstairs from the basement. Overall, its a nice place, and many memories were made. We loved the Loons, cabin & peacefulness, just not the Lake.

Excellent vacation getaway!

  • 5 of 5

This was our second time staying at this home and we had a wonderful time. The home has plenty of privacy, but at the same time is not far from the shops and restaurants of the town of Rangeley. The home is very clean and has all the necessary supplies. We had a great time swimming and boating. We also had a few sightings of a beautiful bald eagle. Highly recommend this home and will return again.

Loon's Call

  • 5 of 5

Our Maine vacation could not have been any more perfect. Chris puts a lot of time and effort into his property, and we felt at home immediately. Everything about the cabin was well appointed. Access to the lake was excellent, and use of kayaks and canoes was greatly appreciated. We enjoyed our morning day trips but not as much as our lazy afternoons on the deck and lake! Chris was very accomodating with our travel schedule and answered all questions. We highly recommend this cabin for people looking to relax.

Beautiful!

  • 5 of 5

Wonderful. 10 out of 10.

Stayed with my wife and three kids age 1,4, and 6.

We had a blast - the cabin is immaculate.

Two bedrooms downstairs with queen beds and a room upstairs with three single beds.

A million things to do outside - boating, swimming, fishing, hiking.

This place is a cant miss.

I have stayed here summer and winter.

Owners are responsive, professional, and clearly have poured a lot of time, energy, and passion into this beautiful spot.
