During the summer you can sit on our large deck or on our beach and relax. Your children will not get bored with our sandy swim area and play ground with large swing set, slide and climbing bars. The kids will like making some-ores at our island fire pit, and we provide the wood. We have 3 paddle boats, 2 canoes, 1 row boat and there is plenty of fish in the lake. If you’re bringing your own boat we are located 500 feet from a very nice concrete launch ramp.
The fall color tours can begin at our Lodge; you can take several two lane roads to Petoskey, Indian River and several other cities in the area while taking in the colors as you travel. For the Arnold Palmer’s in your group there are several world class golf courses located in the area.
In the winter the snowmobiling conditions are great; we are located in the Snow Belt and receive more than our fare share of the white stuff. We are 3 miles from the Rails for Trails by snow mobile and only 5 miles from Pigeon River Forest, we sit up on a large hill and the kids will enjoy great sledding. For the snowboarders in your family we are less than 35 miles from Boyne Mountain and one hour from the Highlands. Our large parking area will accommodate over 25 snow machines and their support vehicles.
Spring time brings Morrell mushroom hunters and spring golf. We are centrally located to accommodate your trips to the forest and the green's.
Our recreation room provides evening entertainment with a pool table, large card table, and DISH TV. All 9 of our bedrooms have 2 full sized beds and private bathrooms. We provide the linens and towels for your stay. Our kitchen is fully equipped and you can cook for a group of 50 or more with 2 gas stoves, 2 refrigerators, a dishwasher, and micro wave oven.
We are located only a few miles from one of the TOP 10 Mountain biking trails in the USA, Mountain biking in the Pigeon River Forest as noted in Men’s Journal Magazine. We are a member of the Michigan Vacation Rental Assoc.
We have a great location, remote by today's standards. We have seen several eagles as they soared above the lake, heard the call of the coyote's in the evening, the bugling of the elk when the wind is right and the call of the loons in the morning. It’s really a wonderful spot to share with friends and family and quiet enough to hear yourself think.
WE HOPE TO SEE YOU SOON!!!
To very honest with you when I first drove up the driveway to visit the property I wasn’t overly impressed. I knew it was a lake front with its own island, large in all senses of the word. But when we walked into the home we immediately saw the potential of the facility. The entrance way opened up to the nine bedrooms and 11 baths with a large living area and a huge recreation room. All of that paled and became a secondary consideration, when I walked out on the deck that overlooked the lake and the island. WHAT A VIEW. It was the mid week, the first week of September. It was a picture perfect day, clear beautiful blue sky, temperature in the mid seventies and quiet, so very quiet. There was no one on the lake except a couple of loons. We think that the realtor hired them for a swim by, we also think that she hired an eagle and an elk, they didn’t show up then but we have seen them many, many times over the years. The house needed lots of work but I was sold on the place. We purchased it in January of 2001 and started planning what needed to be done first. Sense then we have taken on many large and small projects, always trying to improve our home and make it as comfortable as we can for our family, friends and clients.
We have one benefit that everyone seems to be looking for. We can house 35 to 40 people in the same building. We have a kitchen that’s large enough to cook for them and lots of room for everyone to either get together and talk or find a quiet corner to go read a book. There are similar facilities that offer one large building and several smaller cottages spread out on the property. What our guests tell us is that our home allows them to all be in the same place, not having to go from cottage to cottage. It makes it so much simpler to enjoy everyone’s company when you don’t have to go next door to talk to them.
I must say that this weekend was wonderful! Being that this was the 4th time that my friends have stayed here, it was exactly what I was told to expect. The Lodge is very spacious, with 9 bedrooms each with its own bathroom. We hosted approximately 21 adults and with the space of the place, we were never over crowded. Very clean and peaceful spot to take the family away to. WiFi was available so I was able to get some researching and studying done on my down time as well. The view off the back deck was AMAZING (got great pics)!!! The town itself was cute and small, the locals were very friendly and we were in short proximity to so many other places. With that being said, we had a blast shopping, traveling the Mackinaw Bridge to Mackinac Island, golfing at Black Bear golf course, checking out the casino in Petosky and just hanging out enjoying the scenory. Oh..and cleaning my laundry before I left was a plus. I recommend this spot for anyone. It was definitely worth my money.
What a wonderful experiance!! We are a family of 20 people from all over the country and this house was by far the most comfortable house for our needs. Having 9 bedrooms with their own bath, gave everyone their own space when needed. The setting was a tranquil lake with plenty of room on the deck for family meals and conversation. The firepit was a nightly treat for many of us to stay away from the mosquitos and chat. We had our own little family olympics with the canoe and the rowboat. We had swimming, biking, running, rowing and paddling. Luckily the weather was on our side so that we could enjoy all that Wildwood had to offer. I would highly recommend this house. Activitives off the property included: golfing at the local course up the road, trips to Mackinac city that is about 30-45 away, a lumber jack show, a trip to Mackinac Island, a chartered fishing trip in Traverse City, a trip to Petrosky, a rafting and a tubing trip, a trip to The Cross in the Woods and the the trip to the Mystery Spot and the Man eating clam. We all enjoyed the stay, and the kitchen, although a little tight, was more than fully equiped with everything that is needed for a large crowd. I would highly recommend this for a large family reunion!!!
Wildlife Viewing (less than 10 miles to the largest Elk herd in Michigan), Morrell mushroom hunting, only 36 miles to Mackinaw City, 35 miles to Boyne Mountian. We are located only a few miles from one of the TOP 10 biking areas in the USA, Mountain biking in the Pigeon River Forest as noted in Mens Journal Magazine.
