The apartment is located in a property built on the site of a former medieval cloister. Its garden surrounded by high walls on one side and a colonnade portico on the other, gives the place a romantic atmosphere; this secret garden invites to contemplation by the calm that reigns there. It is located off the usual tourist trails, in the heart of a very authentic neighborhood of Venice. The house, however, has an extremely central position as it is only 100 meters from the entrance to the Biennale d'Art, 15 minutes walk from Saint Mark's Square. It is also easy to reach the beach of Lido in ten minutes from the nearest boat station.
It is an ideal place for shops; in fact, at fifty meters you will find an excellent fish market, a superb display of fruit and vegetables on a boat moored along a canal and much more (pharmacy, pastry, delicatessen etc). You will have the opportunity to treat yourself to very good tables or lounging in front of a good cappuccino.
Venice was always the point of arrival of the Silk Road. Following this tradition, the Fonduk (or Fondaco in Italian) is decorated with examples of textile art from countries where the ancient merchants of Venice traveled. For this reason the Fonduk is not only a guesthouse for travelers but also a cultural center for the exchange, research and promotion of oriental textile art.
