Comfy and affordable slice of Vermont life

  • 5 of 5

Wish we'd had more than one night to enjoy in this clean, comfortable farm cottage. Loved waking up to the sights and sounds of the farm - beautiful panoramic view of the rolling hills and changing leaves, and the goats, cows and horses. Great place for couples or families. Highly recommend checking out Alchemist and Green Goddess in nearby Stowe.

Memorable accommodations

  • 5 of 5

I just spent 10 days in Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont. I stayed in different places almost every night and each was unique and different. This Hyde Park property was absolutely one of my favorites! It was on a charming farm and we arrived at night so were not able to see much. The cabin was spotless and spacious and fully equipped. I slept great on a comfy bed and it was quiet and dark which is what I love. But in the morning was the "big reveal". I opened the curtains and saw the most gorgeous views! I could get used to that for sure! Then I saw the goats all leave the barn for pasture in a straight line and got some great photos of that. And some horses too. It was very charming and just what I had pictured a Vermont farm in the fall to be like. I highly recommend this place to anyone who likes off the beaten path.

Amazing Vermont getaway

  • 5 of 5

I couldn't say more nice things about the cottage. From the homey cottage itself, to the scenery right off the back deck, to the owners themselves, this was what i was looking for exactly. Everything you could need is provided but if you feel the desire, down town is less than 10 mins away. Was a great stay during my VT brewery vacation. I have already recommended it to friends and family and I hope to return

Quiet getaway in Beautiful surroundings!

  • 5 of 5

Staying here at Stony Brook Farm was one of the best vacations I have ever had. Quiet surroundings with views of pastures, forests and red Vermont barns. It was a pleasure watching the herd of goats come out every morning and scamper in the sun. I would sit out on the deck and listen to the brook in the background, the crows, the bluejays and other song birds. Great location: not far from Burlington or St. Johnsbury. Close to Cabot and Ben & Jerry's. We visited wineries, breweries, a distillery, art galleries, farm stands and had an awesome tour of a maple syrup producer.

Carol and Tom were great hosts, providing beach towels when we were about to go kayaking! The cottage was very clean and homey, providing what we needed and more. There isn't any WIFI but trust me, that is a plus, not a negative. :) Carol provides movies and games to entertain children of all ages. I highly recommend visiting Tom and Carol at Stony Brook Farm, especially if you have young children. They will love it. I sincerely hope to be able to visit there soon and often.

Little paradise

  • 5 of 5

We expected vacations out of the urban rythm for our 2 childs (4,5 and 2 years old) and us: it was simply perfect. It was a journey in the deep green Vermont, with gentle mountains surroundings, amoung farm animals... in a cosy little corrage, comfortable, neat, and nice.

Carol was wonderful, patient and comprenhensive with children, instead of the difference of language (we are French speaking).

We were awaken by the rooster; beakfast and meals were taken on the rear deck, in the middle of the prairie, with goats and chicken not very far... Perfect spot for "urban sicks" like us; for sure, we will go back again (our daughter asks already for it!)

The cottage is exactly as discribed; a perfect place for country vacations. The closest little town is Morrisville, but we prefered Stowe, 10 miles away from the cottage: very pleasant town, patrimonial buildings, stoll paths, typical shops -espacially local products.

Too many things to tell here. Just experience by yourselves!

Best Place Ever

  • 5 of 5

Incredible! Listing does NOT begin to do it justice. Unbelievable views, clean, comfortable accommodations with lots of extras and generous, gracious host and hostess. The working farm aspect is the best, especially for children...chickens, cows, a host of animals just outside the lovely cottage. Great, convenient location to groceries, lake, town...You support a local small farm while enjoying a magnificent site at a great price, too! We can't wait to go back!
