We recently stayed at Stony Brook Farm over February school vacation. The cottage was clean, well-appointed and comfortable. Such a quiet location that feels "far away", but is still close to stores, restaurants, etc. All major attractions are a short drive away...we were able to go to Craftsbury Outdoor Center, Stowe, and Waterbury with no trouble. Excellent food options and breweries nearby. The only suggestions I have for the cottage would be for more bowls (we had to improvise for our dog), and some hooks in the bathroom would have been helpful.
The cottage was clean and had all needed amminities. There was endless hot water for the 6 people in my party. My 4-year old son loved going in the goat shed to see the goats and petting the horses behind the cottage. The owner was very nice, answering our questions but leaving us alone. My only suggestion for improvement would be to add internet access and a better TV, but what is available is accurately described in the rental description.
The cabin is charming and in a quiet area. Exactly what we needed to rest and decompress.
We loved the cottage and the location. Quiet country farm, with a great deck and view. It was also close to everything. Will be back some day. Thanks Carole for making the process so easy.
Wish we'd had more than one night to enjoy in this clean, comfortable farm cottage. Loved waking up to the sights and sounds of the farm - beautiful panoramic view of the rolling hills and changing leaves, and the goats, cows and horses. Great place for couples or families. Highly recommend checking out Alchemist and Green Goddess in nearby Stowe.
I just spent 10 days in Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont. I stayed in different places almost every night and each was unique and different. This Hyde Park property was absolutely one of my favorites! It was on a charming farm and we arrived at night so were not able to see much. The cabin was spotless and spacious and fully equipped. I slept great on a comfy bed and it was quiet and dark which is what I love. But in the morning was the "big reveal". I opened the curtains and saw the most gorgeous views! I could get used to that for sure! Then I saw the goats all leave the barn for pasture in a straight line and got some great photos of that. And some horses too. It was very charming and just what I had pictured a Vermont farm in the fall to be like. I highly recommend this place to anyone who likes off the beaten path.
