As the guest testimonials confirm, this is the premier house rental on Lake Willoughby, VT.
Our guest book is filled with comments like: 'best vacation ever, totally relaxing, amazing scenery, artisinal timber frame home with everything we needed, serene, fantastic star gazing, wonderful swimming and kayaking, hiking, biking out the front door'.
This house is situated on a beautifully manicured lot overlooking Lake Willoughby. It is very private and quiet. We loved the wood and the unique structure of the house which was very clean and had so many amenities. Enjoyed sitting on the porch, relaxing and enjoying the view. We could use the kayaks and paddle boat which were a lot of fun.
The owner, Tim, and the rental manager (Carol Ann Rentals) were wonderful to work with and provided excellent customer service. We highly recommend renting this house and we certainly look forward to renting it again if we have another family reunion.
We have stayed there for a week for the past three summers (a family of four with two young kids). It's a terrific house with great views in a beautiful setting.
The stone patio gets great sun late in the afternoon and into the early evening. There's a lawn in back for kids to play and there's a nice beach just down the road that's also great for kids. The house is always clean and has everything needed for cooking, going to the beach, etc. Tim has also been a pleasure to make arrangements with.
This property is correctly represented by the owner, but it is so much more when you actually see it in real life! The house is a beauty! The craftsmanship is quite spectacular. Everything felt so clean and new. The kitchen was well appointed. It was really comfortable being there. My favorite spot was simply a swivel chair right at the kitchen island.
There was plenty to do, with swimming, kayaking and hiking right there. My daughter did a 30 minute jog each morning, and I swam every day. Willoughby has such clean, clear water. Plus it just felt good to be surrounded by Vermont's beautiful Northeast Kingdom...It's a special place.
We picked blueberries in Danville, shopped at Willie’s and The Millers Thumb in Greensboro and ate at Parker Pie in West Glover, and Positive Pie in Hardwick, which by the way, was a really good pick!
Tim was very accommodating, and we thank him for sharing his lovely place with us. I would happily recommend this property to friends and family.
We stayed at this house for a week in June. The house and property exceeded our expectations. We enjoyed the lake views and sunrises from nearly every room in the house, the deck, screened in porch and the exquisite patio. The house has a great open floor plan and exemplifies fine craftsmanship and custom details. They even have the small details covered, with wifi, washer/dryer, ice maker, central vac and a gas grill all provided in addition to the standard supplies
The lake was crystal clear and the property has a nice very private dock for sunning swimming and kayaking. We also got great use of the firepit that is setup perfectly at the base of the imposing, but inviting rock ledges and offers night views across the darkened lake and out into the star filled sky.
The house is centrally located in the lake area. Stores, hiking and multiple golf courses were all within a short drive for us.
The owner Tim was very accommodating and easy to work with. This property will be at the top of our list for any return trips to the area and I would highly recommend it to others.
What a beautiful cottage. It is well supplied and immaculate inside and out. The lake is pristine and kayaks and peddle boat were a bonus. I would highly recommend this cottage to anyone. The owner was very pleasant and easy to deal with. I hope they continue to rent the cottage as we plan to return!

Lake Willoughby, also known as the Lucerne of America, is considered by some as being the most beautiful lake in Vermont and in all of New England. Located in the town of Westmore, a short distance off 1-91 and 30 min. north of St.Johnsbury, this body of water is known for its crystal clear water, natural sand beaches and great swimming, kayaking and fishing.
With a maximum depth of 312 feet, this is also the deepest lake in the Northeast Kingdom, which makes it a favorite of divers. It covers 1692 acres and is bounded one one side by the steep cliffs of Mt. Pisgah and on the other by Mt. Hor. The lake was formed 12,000 years ago, when glacier rivers of ice carved out 'U' shaped valleys and spectacular cliffs of granite in Vermont's Northeast Kingdom.
The effect is strikingly similar to a Norwegian fjord. About one third of the lake has lakefront properties. There are public beaches at the north and south ends and public access for boaters. The remainder is Willoughby state forest.
