Following a 7 year apprenticeship with an electronics

company in south London, i started my own company in

the same area, year 1970, manufacturing specialised

lighting products.Later, i formed a second company after selling the first one, making an even more specialised product and also bought a small holiday home in spain. Having enjoyed our 'stays' here in coveta

so much, i bought a larger villa in 1992 with a view to

retiring one day in this wonderful climate.

RICK WEST purchased this apartment in 1992

Why RICK WEST chose Alicante Area

Although, at the time a 2 bedroom property, i could see the

potential to make another room,it had the VIEW and a large

triple car space garage, now partly converted to a workshop, on approx.2000 sq. mtr. plot. One of the best things i ever did.!

We enjoyed our stay very much and felt very comfortable

You will enjoy your stay as we did if:

- you like to be away from the big tourism and still close to find markets, shopping possibility etc

- you don´t mind to stay in a simple yet practical apartment without luxury and older furniture (no airco, simple furniture, no oven etc)

- for you luxury instead is quietness and a breathtaking view

- you like to have from time to time a chit-chat with the owner

- you like to be in 3 minutes at a small and lovely beach

- you like to find several but not too many restaurants in walking distance

- you like to sunbath in privacy and read a book on the patio

- you like to have breakfast whilst watching the sunrise

- you like to take the train to go everywhere.. or rent a car to discover the coast

Perfect location

I would just like to say I've read a bad review on this property which I totally disagree with the apartment was cosy and contemporary with everything you could need.Rik was very friendly and helpful and actually went shopping for us so we had milk and bread and eggs and a bootle of wine.i can only say that if things were that bad why didn't they speak up whilst there!Rik is friendly and never intruded on us and we were there nine days!

Owner's Response: Thankyou for your comment. Having told them about upgrade due, i didn't even expect a review, except perhaps advice not to go until ready. Least of all a 500 word monologue, including a couple of actual 'pork pies'. [untruths] Review appeared after i successfully claimed for the broken kettle! Apt. now has improved mosquito protection,new taps+shower, better computer desk,duvet covers,a steam cleaner, additional cantilever parasol, and a new sofa!

accomodation 2star at best,location fab 4star

We arrived hot/tired midday Saturday. Not even a drink offered, a glass of water would have done. He shook hands, nice smile, then waved his hand,said have a look around. He said ‘its not perfect…’ how true. He has strict no smoking policy re apt [we don’t smoke] yet he came inside with his cigarette and continued to smoke it indoors. he spent long time explaining TV operation, [we never used it anyway]. No greeting pack, and unknown to us, we arrived as the shops were closing for weekend, no shops open until Monday [we found a garage shop for some basics, that was IT ]. So beware that even the big Carrefour [Saint Juan] and Lidl [el Campello] are both closed all day Sunday [April]

I needed a hair dryer, there was none, but he kindly found one the following day, and a second pillow requested was immediately found, that was good.

The place is clean re surfaces, but generally has a grubby feel to it, [dirty light switches, door handles, windows dirty, terraces floors all needed a good brushing, loose moving tiles, etc.,] low spec., lots of ‘make do and mend’. The small rotary laundry dryer outside has thick rope threaded through where the plastic had failed. The beds were uncomfortable. Bedding was a plastic mattress cover, base sheet, top sheet and cotton bed cover. I knew we would not be warm enough with that, so I asked if there were blankets. He waved his hand at two bags above the wardrobe, and said the duvets are there if you need them. When I got them down later, a pile of dust came down with them. The duvets were unaired and musty, the blue covers on the duvets were unwashed they even had blood stains on them. The next day I washed the covers by hand, and put them on the line, and put the duvets out to air. He must have seen this, as he saw everything we did, but did not comment. a day drying out in the sun, not all the blood stains came out though! I didn’t mention it as i wanted to be sure they were clean.

The guest terrace is also an exit route from owners living area above so affects privacy. The first afternoon my husband was fast asleep on sun lounger there, & Rik woke him up to ask a nonurgent parking question. Thoughtless.

The flat is as described and shown, but no mention of it also being a storage facility for plastic chairs and mattresses in the corridor,. No mention either of the view directly opposite the terrace and the length of the house, of abandoned multi storey building project, half constructed no walls. area is fab, lovely bay

Owner's Response: Sorry this guest did not enjoy their stay, [also told no welcome pack!] Our own fault ! Letting/helping any guest come to the apt. when not ready/upto standard.[ see other 9 reviews, Ai. .nb - all positive.] It will not happen again.!! - This UNFAIR REVIEW - FAILED TO SAY THAT:- They wanted accommodation for the same day as arrival ! NOTHING booked. After telling them it was NOT READY YET, no annual deep CLEAN/REPAIR, planned for THAT week, they advised ok, we'll take it 'as it is'.- Arriving 4 hrs. early, with 'negative aura' proceeded to sunbath instead of SHOP, (open till 1.30pm) - Being uninterested in any comment or help i all ways offer, i was asked "what's the smell in the bath room" husband replied, "that was me"- did'nt see them after that. - Privacy WAS respected. Our exit is once a day,if that ! They left a mess and broken kettle.Now claimed and paid. [don't be too eager to help 'strange' guests out ?] ---------- Absence 1 night DID give us safety concerns ! All points mentioned, now addressed. APT.CLEAN AND READY ! with polished handles and switches, riandrops removed from windows.!! etc. ask questions if you need to ! I actually complained about this proclaimed ''super host'', who booked through another site. [she stated, when asked, how long were you a super host?] that she had stopped taking guests, being fed up with people in her house !!!

Belle vue cest tout

Des notre arrivés on nous a pas laisser garer la voiture devant et des regles draconiennes sont mises en place par le propriétaire .

Se doucher dehors, fumer dehors, et en plus on se comprennez pas ..

Par contre , lappartement est sale des placards,le frigo les portes le micro onde a pete de suite le ventilateur aussi , la douches, les wc et lavabo aussi sale . les lits sont inconfortables au possible et les coussins taches et sales et le lit casse le dos , tres peu de vaisselle disponible pas de four et les couverts sale on a du acheté des coussins des couverts , une passoires cafetière ...

Bref, cet hote nest pas tres sympas mais tres discret par contre .

J'oublie les nombreuses douches a leau froide chauffeau hors d âge ainsi que parasol vieux et tres penible a utiliser .

Bref a part la vue et la proximité de la plage et des commerces cet appartement a besoin d'être plus soignée pour accueillir vacanciers .

Et surtout comme il y a une grande cote pour arriver a l'appartement a pieds soyer en forme et eviter les talons durant votre séjour ou les mettre dans votre voiture qui reste en bas de la rue . Et prévoir des lingettes pour faire menage a votre arrivée comme nous durant plus d'une heure .. les boules .

A vous de voir maintenant vous savez tout

YES, you can have an economic rental apt. in one of the best locations - 'COVETA FUMA' - south facing

with a panoramic view - 2 patios - twin single bedroom, just 2mins. from sandy beaches with safe swimming and 3mins.from 10 bar/rest.(most speak english),hair salon,super mkt.,tram,bus,and a gym. this pine and palm tree populated friendly village is near to golf, Alicante castle,Campello roman remains,marina and more sandy beaches.

Benidorm atractions are also close, if local seasonal entertainment is not your choice. there is fishing and a small boat launch ramp,caves to visit, and mountain villages,if a car is rented,water parks

a small zoo,and other trips worth booking. there is good shopping,local markets and boot fairs, all this

half an hour from the airport by taxi or pick up.--

If you need more, ask the owner,who lives here --
