Audubon Society of Coeur d"Alene

Birders from Coeur d'Alene have stayed here many times. The acreage surrounding the house is a birders dream with forest, riparian and waterfowl species on the pond and Deep Creek. Mammals (moose, deer and bear) may be seen. Just north is the Kootenai National Wildlife Refuge, The Nature Conservancy's Ball Creek Ranch, and near the Canadian border is the Boundary Creek Wildlife Management Area. The house sits at the foot of the Selkirk Mountains which is riddled with fabulous hiking trails to lakes and waterfalls.

There are many level trails nearby which are good for cross country skiing or snowshoeing, or those who prefer to walk rather than hike.

Another group from our area goes every September for our ladies' "mental health" weekend. We relax, hike, explore, play horseshoes, read, play games and eat! It is peaceful and lovely. A GREAT GET-AWAY!
