Great house for a weekend getaway

  • 5 of 5

A weekend away for three couples each with a child at JMU. Liked the proximity to campus and the house was plenty big enough to have them out for dinner and breakfast. Chilly night on Saturday and the wood burning stove kept the house extremely warm and cozy. House had all the amenities needed for our weekend away. Would rent again.

Our 2nd year. Would return again.

Great property, owner, and responsive maintenance.Property is great for familes and those who need limited stairs. Still has upstairs loft for up to 6 kids. Bathrooms, kitchen, laundry, garage, 2 bedroom, and deck all on single level. Reliable high speed internet improves experience over prior year. Wildlife with deer sightings most evenings. A 2nd television would be nice in one of the bedrooms to give adults the chance to catch up on shows whiles kids watch DVDs in the living room. Appreciate the large charcoal grill. Fully equipped kitchen. Close to all resort amenities (10 minute drive). Nearby Elkton for groceries or fastfood pizza if you tire of resort offerings or home cooking. Lots of scenic and historical sites within 2 hours or less drive.

A quiet retreat in beautiful Massanutten!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed here for six weeks while searching for a new home nearby and we're so glad we did! This is a large log cabin with beautiful wood furniture throughout including a truly giant dining room table. The kitchen was well stocked with small appliances and everything else I needed to cook and bake for an extended stay. We don't have any children, but we do work from home, and this cabin had more than enough room for us both to do that comfortably. The bunk beds in the lofts would be perfect if you have a large family or multiple families with kids looking to vacation together. I would have loved it as a kid traveling with my sisters and several cousins to have our own lofts with the catwalk in between. The home is also animal friendly, so you can bring your dog or cat along for the trip.

The neighborhood is quiet and well maintained. Everyone waves to you and is very friendly, but not intrusive. There's a lovely wooded backyard view that you can enjoy from the large back deck. There's also a big grill on the deck, if you like to have cookouts.

We didn't have a chance to take advantage of everything that Massanutten had to offer, but we have friends who live there all year and they love it. There are all sorts of outdoor family activities, nice hiking, and concerts to check out. There's also an excellent restaurant on top of the mountain called Base Camp that has outdoor seating around fire pits.

This was a working vacation for us, and we have higher than average internet speed needs. The high speed internet at this home was amazing! You'll have access, if you want, to all of your streaming media or any work you need to do online.

Finally, the owners and property manager are the nicest people! They were flexible, quick to answer any questions we had, and they were ready to take care of any problems that arose (none did). We would definitely return if we were looking to vacation in the area, and highly recommend it.

Perfect getaway!

  • 5 of 5

We loved this cabin!! It was perfect for our group of 8. Lots of space for everyone to hang out and a huge table for meals. The wifi and air conditioning made it very comfortable. Not a bad drive to Shenandoah National Park which had beautiful views and a ton of hiking. Will definitely return for future visits!

We had a great time at this property. The house was very nice. Had plenty of room for our group. The kitchen was well equipped especially the griddle which came in handy when cooking breakfast for our group which was the main meal cooked. There were nice places to eat near the house as well. Liked how close the house was also to the water park, skiing and ice skating. This was our first experience in Massanutten and this home helped make it an amazing first trip here!
