'Sunnyside' is located at Baypoint, Maine a quiet family oriented community. We are situated at the mouth of the Kennebec River with amazing oceanfront views including Fort Popham, Popham Beach and sunsets over Long Island at the river mouth. A cozy, simple cottage on the rock bound coast perfect for escaping from it all. Curl up with a book on the screened in porch, enjoy a short walk to our local beach or take a 10 minute drive to Reid State Park, and Five Islands Wharf, or Bath and other nearby towns. The Maine Coastal Botanical Gardens in Boothbay recently was chosen as a top visit site for those who love gardens!
There are plenty of cards and board games, and cable tv reception. A comfortable place to retreat, enjoy your creativity, watch the seagulls play, listen to the ocean, and fall into the rhythms of nature. The region is very desirable for painters and photographers!
Cottage and vicinity: The sleeping area in the cottage is located upstairs and is divided with a 3/4 wall to provide circulation of the wonderful sea air. Downstairs there is an electric heater to take the chill off, if necessary. There is only parking for one car. There is no access in front of the cottage to the water. You can see the steep drop off of ledges in front of the cottage. Small children need to be closely supervised. You see neighbors docks in the pictures that cannot be used as a means to get down to the water. To access the ocean you walk down the community roads to our local beach.
Many amenities are located within a short drive including a picturesque lobster wharf at Five Islands where you can dine on scrumptious lobster, Reid State Park and it's wonderful coves and beaches. The local country store has pizzas, lunches, some basic groceries, lobster and delicious ice cream. Local artisans wares may be found in area shops, and at the Georgetown Pottery. The Osprey, The Gray Haven's 'Blue' Restaurants offer fine dining within about 10 miles.
We loved 'Sunnyside.' The description is very accurate. It is a small, charming cottage and we had comfortable stay. We enjoyed the views from the screened porch, watching the sea birds. It is in a quiet area, on a salt water river about 10 minute drive to beautiful beaches at Reid State Park. There is another private beach few minutes away, no parking, but an easy 5 -10 minute walk. The owners provided the little extras that made us feel welcome and enjoy our stay. It was well equipped with napkins, tissues, cooking and cleaning supplies etc. There are also plenty of games and books. Beds were comfortable too. There is a helpful binder with information on things to do in the area and also a free pass to the state park! There is no direct water access from the home but the views were great!
Georgetown is such a pretty, unspoiled area and you truly feel you are away from it all. I recommend this property for a relaxing get away.
This was a lovely quiet place to spend a restful week. The views live up to the description! The screen porch was my favorite spot - great for knitting and watching the sea birds! The cottage is no frills (though wi fi was a plus), but perfectly comfortable with everything you might need. It would be suitable for a couple or small family. The owner was very accommodating and helpful. I would certainly recommend the property.
We enjoyed our stay at "Sunnyside". Unique blend of old and new that was very comfortable. The owners were very helpful. Quiet and peaceful .
We made a great choice when selecting to stay at "Sunnyside". The property listing and pictures were true to form. The views were absolutely amazing. We loved the charm and ambiance of this cottage. The beds were comfortable, the shower had great water pressure and the kitchen was equipped with everything you need to cook a meal. The cottage is filled with books and games should a rainy day fall upon you. Did I mention the views? Watching the Blue Herons and Ducks were quite entertaining and you have never seen the ocean until you see it from Reid's State Park....spectacular! This cottage is close to a lot of recreational attractions as well great dining but yet tucked away where quite, rest and relaxation can take over. The General Store right down the road has great pizza. The owners were very accommodating and just a phone call away should you need anything. When we visit Maine again....we are definitely staying here! Thank you Dottie and Ken for sharing this cottage with us and making our week here one of best vacations ever.

We enjoyed our stay here. It is in a good location and Dotty provides all the little things like kleenex which were very handy and she was very friendly and helpful.
The camp may be old but it was bug free, comfortable and had easy access to the area.
The porch has great views and it was a peaceful place to stay.
Our favorite place in the world. We have stayed at Sunnyside for over 7 years and each time it gets better. You are not living in the lap of luxury but if you want a clean, comfortable, quiet, relaxing beautiful get away, then this is the place. Out favorite place in the home is the screened-in porch over looking the water and watching the bald eagle who visits as well as an occasional seal and other wild life. The breezes are pure perfection. Sunnyside had all we needed in the kitchen, as well as games, books and TV. We found the home to be clean and most comfortable. Ken and Dotty even have an album with all the places of interest to visit. We go whale watching out of Booth Bay Harbor each year, about a 30 minute ride. The listing description was 100% accurate and the property well maintained. We would definitely recommend the wonderful home, just not in September, as that is when we like to go and want to make sure it is available. :)
