Are you looking for a quiet getaway on the beach? You will agree that our Villa de Brisas Marinas - Sea Breeze Villa - is just the place. We discovered the charming fishing village of Telchac Puerto and would like to share our beautiful home there with you.
The villa is set steps from the Gulf of Mexico with beach weather all year round. As you enter the front gate through the covered patio with its lovely mosaic floor, to the gate to the beach, you will be on your way to paradise. Sit under our beachfront palapa and enjoy the blue water and white sand and no crowds!
You will enjoy the open floor plan designed and tastefully appointed by local architect, Gabriela Cornelio. From Mexican tile floors, the 5 sliding glass doors to the exquisite tile accents in the kitchen and baths, you are surrounded by the beauty of the sea and the charm of local décor. The living/dining area is spacious and opens with two sets of sliding glass doors to a covered patio overlooking our private beach. We provide all that you need from linens to a well-equipped kitchen. We placed a gas cooktop in the counter, so that if you choose, you may prepare a meal while enjoying the ocean view and the company of your friends and family. It also has a split-system air conditioner.
We have three bedrooms, all with ceiling fans, and three full bathrooms. There are two bedrooms with queen size beds; one room has a balcony. These bedrooms share a bath. The expansive master bedroom with king bed, ensuite bath and large walk-in closet overlooks the master balcony. The balcony has a breathtaking view of the beach and Gulf of Mexico. Each of the bedrooms has its own, split-system air conditioner. The third full bath is on the first floor.
Activities and Attractions:
The village of Telchac Puerto is about 2-3 km from the villa. You can walk to the center plaza along the beach, or walk or drive the main road into town. There are small markets with fruits and veggies, a bakery, liquor stores, a hardware store, restaurants and other small markets.
We hope you spend your time relaxing, swimming, strolling the beach, enjoying the birds and shell collecting. The beaches are wide and inviting and the water is warm and safe. The Mayan culture is everywhere from X-Cambo ( a 10 minute drive) or Dzibichaltun (30 minutes) to Chichen Itza ( about 1½ hours) and many others. You can also explore the many villages that are nearby. You may choose to spend a day in the lovely city of Merida (45 minutes), especially the historic center on Sundays when local artisans display in the main square. Merida, the capital city of the Yucatan (Pop. 1 million), offers beautiful colonial architecture, parks, museums, restaurants and shopping, and if you must, Wal Mart, Costco, JC Penney, Sears, fast food, etc. The port city of Progreso (25 minutes) is where the cruise ships dock, with a mile-long pier. Along the Gulf in Progreso, you may walk the Malecon and enjoy a variety of shops and restaurants.
Our property manager, who is fluent in English and Spanish, may arrange fishing trips or lazy rides through the nearby lagoons to visit the cenotes (underground springs) where you can view flamingos and many other birds and wildlife. She can also arrange to have someone cook for you and do daily cleaning, if you prefer. These services are not part of the rental fee. We also have a caretaker nearby.
Henry and Nancy Casten, have always wanted to own affordable, oceanfront property in a safe and interesting area, and have found such a place in Telchac Puerto and the Yucatan. Nancy is a nutritionist in a children’s food program and Henry is a search consultant who places scientists and engineers.
The Owner purchased this villa in 2007
Quiet, beautiful, inexpensive area. Beautiful, beaches, Mayan culture, Yucatecan food, lovely Mexican villages and people nearby. It is not a tourist area, yet there is much to do all around you if you are adventurous. If not, the villa is a great place to hang out and enjoy the peace and quiet.
Sitting on my own beach with warm breezes and gentle surf. Watching the pelicans fish and the cormorants drift on the afternoon breezes above. Weather is warm and dry most of the time. The villa is great for gathering many people but also for escaping to your own area as it is spacious and built for privacy, as well.
We had an amazing experience staying at Villa de Brisas. The house is beautiful, clean and extremely comfortable. The owners, Henry and Nancy were very helpful. We were in touch with them since before we booked until we came home. They provided all of the information we needed for our first time in Mexico and more. I have gluten allergies and Nancy even sent me a list of where I could safely eat and shop for gluten-free products. When we arrived the microwave was out getting fixed so Henry had a brand new one delivered to us.
We were there for almost six weeks and enjoyed every moment. We felt very safe the entire time. The beach is very quiet and peaceful and the view from the house is incredible. Downstairs, the living, dining and kitchen overlook the beach and upstairs the huge master bedroom boasts the same amazing view.
Merida is an hour away with a Costco, many Walmart stores, many restaurants and shopping malls.
There is a direct flight offered by Westjet from Toronto to Merida every Tuesday from December to April.
Thrilled to have had this experience.
Loved this place. The house is beautiful...its large, right on the beach and has all the comforts we were looking for (i.e. air conditioning, wifi and fully stocked kitchen.). But the one thing that I think made a difference was how much the owner Henry cared about our experience. He was in contact with us even before we left to make sure we were prepared for the trip. During our stay, the coffee maker went out and he quickly got us a replacement. I recommend this place to anyone looking for a fun and relaxing getaway.
We were blown away by the beauty and comfort of this place. The house is lovely, has every comfort and convenience and is RIGHT ON THE BEACH. This is the perfect place to leave it all behind and just relax. The beach is very nice, we felt completely safe our entire time in the Yucatan and the people are super friendly. You can't go wrong here. I agree with a previous review that this place is even better than pictures will have you think. Amazing value!
This house is a perfect place to distract from city life. The beach is all yours, the village is quiet and rare people you meet are very friendly and nice. A newly-found mayan ruins site ( no admission fee, no museum built yet) is within 10 minutes drive. You can also watch flamingos in the Laguna Rosada on the way there. The villa is very clean and spacious, nicely decorated with mexican pottery. I'd love to come back and bring friends to share this wonderful experience.
I spent the month of January, 2011 at the villa and didn't want to come home. The listing details and photos are completely accurate. If anything, I found the villa to be more impressive than the pictures depicted. Spotlessly clean and very well maintained. The owners were extremely helpful and provided tips and information that I found invaluable. The location is fairly remote, so a car is necessary. We took several side trips to visit various ruins, cenotes and nearby towns. The local population was very friendly and accommodating. I was pleasantly surprised to find so many good restaurants along the way. Yucatean food is excellent. The caretaker, Manuel, also will deliver excellent dishes to the villa at very reasonable prices. The villa is located on a very quiet and serene stretch of beach that provides almost complete privacy. If you are interested in active night life, this is not the place. You would have to drive into Progresso or Merida for nighttime activities. If you are looking for a quiet, peaceful getaway with some cultural trips on the side, I would highly recommend Villa De Brisas Marinas.
There were 3 couples in our party. We arrived on Dec. 26th, rented 2 cars at the Cancun airport and drove to the villa. We were amazed at the beautiful Mexican highway systems, the well marked roads and the exact directions we received from our hosts. The villa was spotlessly clean, very spacious with plenty of room for us to spread out. We became friends with the handy man who cares for the villa -- such a nice man! He cooked two delicious meals for us & took the men fishing in his Panga. The town was very close to the villa & we all enjoyed eating in the little restaurants and meeting the friendly residents. You won't be disappointed if you choose this beautiful villa in this quaint little village!
