Description

Ivybridge Cottage Rental Photos and Description

Sleeps 4 + cot. Luxurious Former Mission Hall with 2 Bedrooms and 2 Bathrooms.

Welcome to Blachford Hall, gateway to Dartmoor- This former Mission Hall built in 1905 is completely new to the holiday letting market and has been furnished and designed to provide you with the feeling of a relaxing stay in a boutique hotel. The Hall is equipped with soft linen, luxurious bedding and fabulously designed furniture whilst at the same time allowing you the comforts necessary to feel completely at ease and relaxed, in a way that only a self catering property can do.

Blachford Hall is situated in the original part of Ivybridge, just metres away from the 13th Century ivy covered bridge from where the town gains its name. Recently redecorated and newly available as a holiday let, this property is brimming with extensive period features and character, including stone walls, original timber beams, doors, stained glass windows and a welcoming wood burner. Amongst the period features you will still benefit from all the modern requirements necessary for a self catering break, such as the WiFi connection, the wet room and a fully fitted kitchen with all appliances. A stunning reception room with high ceilings exposing the original beams of the former chapel, and a mezzanine floor, mean that everyone has room to relax. There are two bedrooms sleeping 4 in comfort, and a travel cot can be provided upon request. Light-filled, full of charm and very welcoming, this house really is a must for those looking for something special nestled on the Southern reaches of Dartmoor, whilst only a short drive from the beaches of the South Hams and the towns of Dartmouth & Salcombe. The town's enviable position means it's the Gateway to both the Moors and the beautiful South Hams countryside. Outside, the property has a courtyard with a BBQ and seating area, with further room for the storage of any bikes, kayaks or other outdoor equipment you may feel necessary to bring with you for a relaxing holiday!

Located at the top of the town opposite a church the house looks towards Western Beacon. Being situated in the original village of Ivybridge, the hall has the feel of a village location yet combined with the convenience of being just a short stroll from the small and easily accessible Devonshire riverside town of Ivybridge. The town has a host of privately run shops, so with the bakers, butchers, delicatessen, green grocer and fish monger (not to mention the 6 public houses in Ivybridge) all within walking distance, you have everything on hand if you don't wish to drive.

Blachford Hall is the ideal location for anyone looking to explore all that South Devon has to offer. With the rugged climbs of Dartmoor to the North, The South Hams beaches to the South and the cities of Plymouth and Exeter both within easy traveling distance, this property really does offer something for everyone.

Why Dawn Smith chose South Hams

After hunting for many properties, this was just 'different' to anything else we found locally. With high vaulted ceilings, roll top bath, multi jet shower, every thing you could need within walking distance from a lovely Devonshire town, yet looking out towards a churchyard and Western Beacon, this hall is beautiful in every way.

What makes this cottage unique

The arched entrance, the gothic windows, the vaulted ceilings, the mezzanine overlooking the main living room, the stained glass window, the roll top baths, the features (oh so many original features!), the log burner for snuggling up on a cold winter's night, the sea in one direction, and the moor in the opposite direction. Need we say more...
