Welcome to our chalet tucked in a green forest and set beside a shimmering lake at the foothills of Southern Appalachians. The development, called Pine Mountain Club Chalets Family Resort and Conference Center, consists of over 100 chalets surrounding a 12-acre lake built with its own Bavarian design, keeping the overall plan as that of an Alpine Village. Enjoy Lake Innsbrook, a private lake with docks, boats, and canoes moored around the lake for the guest's convenience. Fishing in the lake is great.
Swim in the community pool, play tennis, Ping-Pong, pool, basketball, shuffleboard, volleyball, horseshoes, or try the nine-hole, miniature golf course.
View the natural beauty of nearby Callaway Gardens, 14,000 acres of wonder, the John A. Sibley Horticultural Center, Cecil B. Day Butterfly Center, and more. If you are a golfer, there are 63 holes of the best golf you could ever want. The Christmas lights are absolutely fabulous. In nearby Warm Springs, visit the Little White House where Franklin D. Roosevelt built his retreat during his presidency. There is plenty to do in the area, or just relax with a book or listen to the ducks clatter on the lake.
Our chalet is one of the most popular chalets in the development with up-to-date furnishings, a screened porch overlooking the lake, and a kitchen with plenty of utensils to make a gourmet meal.
The chalet is owned by Chalet 78, LLC that was formed in 2007 by Jerry and Karen Thompson. Jerry originally purchased it while living in the Atlanta area where he was CEO of a successful Atlanta based bank. In 1995, Jerry and Karen moved to St George Island, FL where Jerry became successful in real estate selling resort properties. Twenty years later, Jerry and Karen purchased a home near Pine Mountain to be closer to the children and grandchildren and are now full time Georgia residents again.
Jerry Thompson purchased this chalet in 1986
We were attracted to Chalet 78 because of the beautiful lake views and quite setting. We like it because it is not real close to the community pool and recreational area that has more noise and activities. However, it is just a brief walk to enjoy those activities when we desire.
One of the unique benefits is the close proximity to Callaway Gardens and to the quaint downtown area of Pine Mountain. We visit Callaway Gardens frequently to play golf, fish or take advantage of the many activities there.
My husband and I stayed at Chalet 78 with my Mom and step-father, both in their 80's. It was such a lovely setting. We immediately noticed a "welcome basket" when we entered. Also saw that there were great books for all kinds of interests as we entered the other rooms. Spending time on the screened porch with a book was our favorite! The lake view is so peaceful. The home is laid out very well for those who cannot go up and down stairs. (Two bedrooms and a bath downstairs) The furnishings are comfortable and the kitchen is stocked with all you need for meal preparation. We preferred to eat in and made good use of the grill! We have done VRBO many times and I can honestly say this was the cleanest and most comfortable place we have been. We took in shops and antique stores in town and found some great bargains. My husband has already said he would take me back for my birthday trip in 2017! Thank you so much for sharing your lovely Chalet with others. Hope to return soon. Highly recommend others who are seeking quiet and rest visit your home. Thank you, again.
We were there mid-September, so it was nice and quiet. Pretty location and close to lots of things. Updates to house are nicely done. A couple of minor issues that arose (but were out of mgts control) were quickly dealt with. Many thanks for a special time.
We really enjoyed our stay at the Pine Mountain Chalet. It was very clean, quiet and peaceful. There was plenty of activities for all ages. My husband passed away the end of May and we all needed some away time.. A few relatives came by to visit with us and had lunch . It was a nice visit with them. The only negative I can mention was the manager of the Lodge was not very nice. However we did not let his attitude spoil our rest and relaxation. I would recommend the privately owned Chalet 78 to anyone who needs to get away from the rush of the city.. ( But do not park in the the main office parking lot!! - --- park only on the property of the private chalet) The owner of the property gave very good direction to the Pine Mountain park Thanks for a nice week end.
Wow! What a great place to get a little r and r. The chalet is very close to Callaway Gardens as we attended the Hot Air balloon festival. Totally worth it and check that off my bucket list. We got up very early one morin to see lift off but it didnt happen because of the wind. So back to the cabin to rest until that evening. We tried again to see lift off and got there to see the glow. Perfect!! The cabin had everything we needed. Love the back porch over looking the lake. We caught a bass and bream and got to paddle around in the John boat. We all loved the area and Crickets restaurant so close by. We will be back next time to stay a little longer. We did bring extra towel which helped out. Jerry was accommodating as I text or called with questions. Thank you for everything.
We just returned from a special back-to-school trip with our two youngest grandchildren aged 13and 10. We were so fortunate to stay in this delightful chalet in Pine Mountain Ga. The chalet was wonderful and perfect for our needs. Our favorite spot was the large and comfortable screened porch overlooking the lake. We gathered there for meals and just hangout time.
The whole chalet was spotless, fully stocked with an abundance of kitchen equipment, and great. The resort complex itself offered lots of fun activities for families. When we booked, the pictures of Chalet 78 looked like a perfect spot and the pictures were exactly right on!!
Interaction with the owners was easy and all our questions were answered
before we arrived. If you are planning a trip to this area we highly recommend this chalet as your place to stay. We have nothing except positive things to say about this place and we hope to have other trips there in the future. Thank you, Judy and Boyd, Birmingham, Al.
The chalet is within 1-mile from the main entrance into Callaway Gardens and approximately 2 miles from the quaint village of Pine Mountain. Shop in the unique antique and specialty shops, eat in the restaurants or get your favorite ice cream cone from a local store. In Callaway Gardens, relax on the beach, play golf on one of the two Championship courses, rent a fishing boat or visit the Gardens, or butterfly center.
