If you are a large family or group, looking for a house to rent on Lake Winnipesaukee, we have a delightful, Victorian style house for you!
Downstairs, there are two bedrooms, a living room with a working gas fireplace and work desk, a fully-equipped, eat-in kitchen, a laundry room, and a bathroom with a tub/shower combo. Upstairs, there are five bedrooms, a TV room with frig, microwave and sleep sofa, and two bathrooms (one with a tub/shower combo, one with a shower). There's plenty of parking.
If you just want to take it easy, you can relax on the full, wrap-around porch, or on the garage roof deck. By day, it has an outstanding view of the lake and mountains. In the evening, enjoy the clear night sky while watching the colorful lights of boats out on the lake. On Friday nights, the fireworks are set off right across the street from the house.
The house has an unbeatable location in Weirs Beach. You can walk to everything. Walk across the street to the beautiful public beach and park. Walk down the boardwalk to the docks, where you can take a boat cruise across the lake. Farther down the boardwalk you'll find the railroad station, where you can take a scenic train ride along the lake. There are numerous restaurants and shops within walking distance. For entertainment, an outdoor movie theatre, arcades, bumper car rides and miniature golf are all within walking distance.

This house is a beautiful home that we had the joy of staying at for 7 days. The view was amazing every morning waking up sitting on the porch watching the sun rise over the trees and mountains. The house was very convenient for my stay because it is in the middle of everything. Being able to sit on the porch and watch the kids play football on the beach was great. The house has such a home feeling. The property is beautiful and very spacious. The rooms are very big and having a big kitchen so everyone can sit at and eat was very nice. This house had it all. We can not wait to go back next year.
My family and I recently stayed here and there at both pros and cons to the house:
Pros - It's huge! My extended family and friends were all able to have their own rooms or share a room as the house sleeps 17 people comfortably. We were stuck inside for 2 days due to rainy weather but their was plenty of room to spread out in the house and not be on top of each other and we spent many happy hours playing family games/cards together. The front wraparound porch is awesome. We spent almost all our waking hours here enjoying the beautiful lake view (I recommend bringing binoculars to watch the boats on the lake). The location is central to everything - you can walk to get food, drinks, arcades, shopping and of course, it's right across from the beach.
Cons - The living room furniture is quaint but quite old and needs replacing. We had to keep pulling each other up from the chairs because the stuffing and supports were shot and you sunk so low while sitting your butt practically hit the floor (although all the bed mattresses were quite comfortable). While they keep the house surface cleaned, the floors need a good scrubbing. After an hour of walking barefoot on the floors everyone's feet were black from the dirt so be prepared to walk around the house in flip flops at the very least.
The house appeared as advertised on the site and overall I recommend staying at Castle Rest as the pros outweighed the cons and you really can't beat the view from that porch!
Robert was great to deal with and Castle Rest was the perfect spot for us and our friends to enjoy 4th of July week. If we come back to Weirs Beach, we will definitely be staying at Castle Rest again!
Walk down the sidewalk to the center of the action in Weirs Beach, where there are arcades, bumper car rides, and mini-golf courses. Walk to breakfast, lunch, or dinner. There are several restaurants to choose from, all within easy walking distance.
From July 3rd through Labor Day, there's free entertainment on the boardwalk - fireworks and concerts. In mid-June, Weirs Beach is home to the world famous Laconia Motorcycle Week rally - 3rd largest in the USA with 300,000 in attendance. Other events of significant interest to visitors include NASCAR Cup races in mid July and mid-September at the nearby New Hampshire Motor Speedway, and early August's Soul Fest, a Christian rock festival at the nearby Gunstock recreation area.
