The property overall is very nice and a beautiful location. The description on the homeaway site is not correct. We arrived and the place looked abandoned. There was no restaurant or lodge at the time we were there, and it states May- Dec. We ended up NOT staying there because it wasn't what we were expecting. We had to go find other lodging and we were only refunded one of the two nights we paid in advance to stay there. The owner- Trudi- was hard to contact prior to our arrival and was not willing to understand our concerns after we arrived. The doors were unlocked in the lower level restaurant (not in operation) and that would allow anyone to enter into the area we were to stay in. It was very uncomfortable and we chose not to stay there. I don't know if they are even still in business but I have my doubts.
September is a wonderful time to visit Glacier. The crowds are smaller, the air is crisp and the leaves are turning a lovely golden yellow!! The log style lodge was all ours to enjoy as we were the only guests. It was so peaceful and we would spend our evenings on the deck watching the sun go down and the sky full of stars emerge!! My husband, brother and I spent 6 nights here in early September. We stayed in the upstairs lodging and it was just beautiful!! My brother slept on the pullout couch and was very comfortable. The king size bed in the bedroom was so very comfortable that we slept like babies after a long day spent hiking in the park. The Jacuzzi tub was also welcome after a long day wandering the park!! The lodge is conveniently located less then a mile from the west entrance to Glacier making getting away into the beauty of Montana so very easy!! The grocery store is located down the road in Hungry Horse and has everything that you would need. The kitchen is well appointed and has everything needed to prepare a nice meal. Trudi and Juanita made our stay so relaxing and the welcoming bottle of wine and the homemade brownies were a very nice touch!! While there were several trains that went by at night, it was not disturbing at all. In fact, the sounds of the train added to the western ambiance. We loved every moment of our stay and are already planning a return trip to this most lovely part of Montana and would love to stay here again!!
The five star rating for our 4 night stay at Heaven's Peak Lodge is based on the lovely upstairs unit that we occupied and the hospitable reception by Trudi and Juanita, including delicious homemade huckleberry coffeecake and fruit cobbler. The apartment was really clean and bright, with a well furnished kitchen, and a very comfortable king bed. We ate two dinners out at the Glacier Grill and cooked the rest of the time. The proximity to the West entrance to Glacier is a real plus. The proximity to the highway and the high level of activity in the area was a little off putting at first, but we were not there during much of the day. The trains at night are quite audible but even though I dislike a lot of noise, I was not overly disturbed. The restaurant was not open except for Friday morning benefit breakfast. If it had been open, it could have been disruptive to our stay as our unit was over the kitchen. We were the only two people there most of our stay and enjoyed our solitary "happy hours" on the deck gazing at the mountains. We did see the ground floor unit which was very nice and spacious, and equally well outfitted. Two couples could stay there very comfortably. I agree with the reviewer who mentioned that it would be a good idea to check with the property manager to see if there is any special activity planned at the time of your proposed stay. There was construction on a separate unit going on during our stay. If we had been there more during the day, it would have been disruptive. I'm sure most guests are out enjoying the splendors of Glacier Park during the day. We would stay there again.
This is truly a gorgeous log home style resort and my adult daughter and I were the only one's there for the two nights so it was very quiet. It is located less than a mile from the West Entrance of Glacier National Park. We occupied the upper level which sleeps four people; my daughter slept on the sofa bed and said it was a bit uncomfortable but for the two nights it was fine. The unit's amenities have everything you could want and need for the kitchen, a large bathroom with jacuzzi tub (great after hiking and horseback riding), plenty of towels/toiletries, and a large master suite which overlook the mountains and it was amazing to wake up to that view! I liked the fact there was no TV, we bought a jigsaw puzzle and put it together in the evenings chatting and having a bottle of hard cider. Trudi the owner and Juanita were such a big help in booking and making sure we had anything we needed. I read the other reviews on how wonderful the bistro was and hope I can try it next time since it was closed on Monday and Tuesday. In the event you can't eat there, I highly recommend the Glacier Grill and we also made a stop at the Glacier Distillery to sample the whiskey at the recommendation of another traveler.
We stayed at this wonderful place for 4 nights last month and I just wish we could have stayed there longer. The accommodation was far better than we ever hoped for, even better than the pictures show. Very well stocked, loads of towels, toiletries etc and even a good selection of herbs/spices in the kitchen cupboard. Bed was huge!! Tracy, the property manager/chef was a wonderful host and very accommodating. We had sole use of the bistro deck/gardens for 2 nights of our stay as it is closed on Mon/Tues. Tracy put out a grill for us and table/chairs so that we could have our own private bbq. Even saw a doe and fawn come out onto the lawn right in front of us. With regard to the noise from traffic/helicopters/train, this did not bother us at all, in fact I loved the sound of the train sounding its horn - reminded me of Casey Jones!! When the bistro was open we had a meal there which was delicious - chicken with huckleberry sauce - yum yum! Beautiful evening eating out on the balcony whilst the sun set. The lodge is less than a mile away from the West entrance to GNP and in the other direction about 3 miles down the road there is a small town with supermarket/shops/restaurants. As previously mentioned in other reviews we would highly recommend Glacier Grill for a no-nonsense, tasty meal with excellent service. All in all this was THE best place to stay and we would definitely stay there again if we were ever in the area.
My husband, teenage daughter and I stayed here 4 nights. Occupied the upper level. The master suite was HUGE and beautiful (including walk in closet). Bathroom was large with lots of space to hang towels and use of cabinets.
Living quarters are WAY BIGGER than the pictures can show. Our daughter slept comfortably on the pull out couch. The fully furnished kitchen had everything we needed! Everything was clean! Views from the cabin were spectacular.
We had access to the outdoor grill (although we chose to use our own little grill we brought). We DID use the fire pit. Everything was perfect.
Tracy was on-site to answer any questions and give us advice about the area.
We were not bothered by trains or helicopters. The cabin is conveniently located between West Glacier entrance and town of Coram (where we did our grocery shopping at Canyon Foods (cheap!) and a couple meals at Glacier Grill (great pizza and salads!).
I would highly recommend staying in this location. Although the restaurant was not open during our stay, I would love to return and try their enticing menu (and a huckleberry margarita).
If you have an opportunity, take advantage and stay here! We certainly don't regret it!
